I think having a regiment dedicated to MGs would be better because they can provide their own security and it's a pain in the ass to command your men and a MG team at the same time.

Arty is crewed by one man as people have seen in videos... if the typical 10 man arty regiment split between field guns and mortars, I think it'd better simulate artillery bombardments.
But then we would have loads of small regiments doing the MG:s.

Exactly. For the event I am planning, regiments can apply to have a machine gun role. So the regiment would break off pairs of guys to play as gunners and ammo carriers (one team per 30 opposing players) and the rest of the regiment could act as riflemen support, medics, officers, and the rest to form a "machine gun company" of sorts.
it seems that the person on the wrong end of 5arge always seems to get the punishment.

Looking good but is I think 8 very small companies is a bit silly. 4-5 bigger ones would make more sense. They way you have done it might work in modern day but not for this mod (IMO).

You could call each "company" a squad and for an extra measure of organization you could group two squads into a platoon, and effectively have two platoons of two squads each in your overall company. That's a setup that makes most sense to me.

If I could do a conquest event, I would have MG teams covering the flags. However, I'm not sure how willing people would be to cover their home flag when the battle is over at the enemy's!

Well my IE regiment the Welsh Guards start off as all riflemen and if server files system is solved we will traing everyone on MGs and see which 2 are most effective.

Essentially battle with lives. Would be a cool idea, but I think that's beyond the limits of the Warband engine. Q_Q
