Could you place member limits as a new rule depending on how many provinces a nation/state holds to say 2 per province? So say Bavaria has 20 provinces at the start then at the start they can have 40 players max or another example Rhein has 6 provinces then at the start they can only have 12 players until they take more or overcome the faction that controls them,in this case Prussia this would also mean players can join mid-competition if they see the thread late. I would also like to see a rebellion feature where a group of generals can declare civil war a final suggestion is a diplomacy feature where different nations can make allys gain non aggression pacts and declare war on SPECIFIC nations which will reduce the chance of one nation wiping out the rest of the nations in no time at all as the weaker nations could band together to prevent their destruction?
I had thought about limiting numbers, but I want the game to be open to as many different groups as possible. If a 10 man regiment wants to play but there are only 9 spaces, that would suck for the one guy. I'll be allowing people to join mid-game anyway - It's recruitment, after all. The rebellion thing COULD happen, but there would have to be rules about it, otherwise one Brigadier who joined with his regiment but didn't get general would just instantly split. Diplomacy is something we've been discussing.
What do the rest of you think? Should we have realistic diplomacy of the time? Ie French satellite states vs people who aren't french satellite states? Or should we have everyone starting as independent states that can break and form alliances at will?
