I spoke with 5arge personally so if you need any confirmation, feel free to speak to him.

So...

Artillery is allowed 10 artillery men. There can be 2 trains and 8 rankers or 2 trains 2 rankers and 6 officers. Any combination is acceptable including all the artillery units, line infantry, skirms, and engineers/sappers.

There is no limit on how far away the artillery pieces can be from one another.


Hopefully stating these rules explicitly will help clear up some of the problems related to the rules.

We don't have to follow all of 5arge rules. This is the 60th line battle and I like each line battle I play in having different rules and quirks.

I prefer having no more than 6 arty crews. Two will be the cav train, and the rest can be either rankers or arty captains.

The reason is games already take long enough when arty is the last ones alive and they spend it shooting at each other. More crew on arty who can fire/load the arty pieces mean more of them that must be killed off before arty is taken down.

Arty is important so if the lines abandon arty and leave it cav, well it is their own fault for not having a supporting unit near arty.
