I also reenact the War Between the States and the first set of images I expected out of anyone making objects for a ACW game. Then I saw the second set of equipment and was blown away. Those seriously look damn good. Not fresh, but worn. Worn, but not worn out. Just as a soldier would have been expected to maintain for his uniform and equipment. Well done! Looking forward to seeing more.

The Austrians at this time period of the conflict would be wearing the similarly produced (the chinstrap was different) stahlhelms.

Spoiler

These fellows have a different model helmet that was less common.

I can echo everything Deo has said. There are reenacting units in Arizona, but I'm not sure of their names. Half of reenacting is finding an impression you're interested in and the other half is finding a great group to roll with. For me, my reenacting comrades are exactly that - comrades. If you can really get in with a good group of fellows, you'll really enjoy yourself.

Swag, mane. This is something from the "Schlacht im Hürtgenwald" event folk who were talking about possibly doing something interesting for the February event:
Spoiler
For 2015 would german participants be interested in a resupply scenario? It would involve a pre-purchase from ATF and/or Panther Store for items and those items would be boxed and brought forward for resupply by type. Those who pre-purchased the items would then retrieve their items by type. Clothing, gear, etc. Just an idea, let me know your thoughts.

Items to be distributed:

Winter Parka sets (Panther Store)
Camouflage smocks (panther store)
Tunics/ trousers (ATF)
Leather/ webbing goods (ATF)
Bread bags (ATF)
Socks
Sweaters
gloves
toques
cold weather gear in general
Helmet nets

So the concept is this- people will pay for their items from these places in advance and we will have their items tagged w/ their name from the Mfg. There will be one shipment to Phil's place and it should be there 10 days or more before the event.

By the way, did you want to get the 275 on that event? It's pretty fuckin' legit. It's the one down in Waverly. The one I've told you about before.

They're just cartoons, nerd. Watch them whenever you want.

I plan on buying a Merkur 45 Bakelite safety razor and just buying all the other stuff to go along with it. Ideally it'd be a leather case where I could store my razor, spare blades, shaving soap, and brush. Then I'd have an original pocket mirror on the side. I think the only original stuff would be that and the containers for the shaving soap. Getting a bakelite soap box would be great too. Better than a bottle of Johnson & Johnson shampoo or something like that. :c

Since I bought a map case for myself and it has some pencils in there already, I'd like to buy a repro notepad as well as find some blank non-printer paper as to sketch down maps, orders, and the like onto.

Then of course I found a website that makes all sorts of paperwork and ration bags and boxes and it just reminds me of how much I need to spend on boots and winter clothing. I really aught to put little stars next to what I want for Santa to see. ;~; pls gib halp santa

Krampus gonna get you first though.
