Hello guys,

I would like to present you my 79th Regiment of Foot "Cameron Highlanders" texture.
I made it about 6 months ago.. so feel free to download and use it! It was exclusive to Diplex 79th regiment, but they are free to use now!

The texture is different to other texture-packs, since I always make wartorn uniforms. War is a pretty dirty business, so expect dirty and ruff clothes too!

Dear North and South community,

this is hard for me to say but the updates for North and South have been postponed. The reasons for this will stay quiet for only a few weeks but I must ask that the community understands due to the nature of the project and the amount of time in a day, that we have to stop work on North and South and all our modding projects.
Both me any Nytech are so grateful to this community for its hard work and encouragement and we thank you all. Your faith in us has kept this project going and has inspired us to do something even greater.

I do wish to add that just because the updates have stopped does not mean you have to stop playing, we wish as many people as possible continue to play this mod so that are hard work is put to good use.

We look forward to telling you more when we feel it’s the correct time. Understand that this is not a goodbye but just a door closing and another one opening, to a much brighter and greater future.

Your,
North & South Team

• Many uniforms of famous regiments!

New Rank System

You will have your own name, own uniform and flag colors. That regiment with its own uniform is exclusive for you and your soldiers, while other players can see your unique uniform and be jealous.
Those regiments have to be historical and american revolution based of course!

Other Games / AGEOD's American Civil War
« on: February 12, 2013, 11:41:30 am »
Hey guys,

anyone of you know or own Ageod's American Civil War?

What is AACW?

Ageod's American Civil War (AACW) is a historical operational turn-based strategy computer game, that places players at the head of the U.S. or CSA during the American Civil War.
Players are military and political leaders trying to lead the troops of their nations (armies and fleets) to victory, in the midst of some of the toughest operations during those five years of wild campaigning throughout a divided nation, while making political and economical/financial decisions throughout the game that affect the outcome.
You can build your own army, promote your generals, you have to form your divisions, corps and armies and more! :)

Most of the individual years of campaign between 1861 and 1865 are playable via a separate scenario. There is also the complete Grand Campaign covering the whole war.

Its playable via multiplayer (played by email - sending turns). Its the best and biggest civil war stategy game atm... so it would be cool, to find new player for it! :D

North & South: First Manassas / Current patch bug and excuse!
« on: February 05, 2013, 11:14:51 pm »
Dear North and South community,

I'm very sorry for the huge bug we introduced with the new 0.402 patch!
The bug is so deep and hard to find that we have not been able to find a solution yet. We are currently redoing most of the codes and aside from that we have some external coders checking the files.

The bad news:
Also, we can't downgrade back to 0.401 at the moment. For the next days you will unfortunately have to be patient and excuse our biggest fault so far.

The good news
:
We managed to include some scripts, we used in our old secession times. Together with some adjustments we made, that new stuff will be added in the upcoming fixed patch 0.402 !

Drum sound preview:

Finally, we made drum sounds, which will fit to our current fife tracks. Those drums were made by a talented german musicians, called Johannes.
Here is a small preview:

http://www.tunescoop.com/play/313631373933/welcome-here-again-drumfix-ogg

Wounded system and new class

The new patch will have a new wounded system. When you get hit and actually survive, you are wounded and slowly bleeding to death!
To avoid that, we introduced a new unit class: The Medic!
Medics will spawn with 8 bandages, to fix the wounds. So better get some medical support near your regiments! :)

Hope you guys will enjoy it! :)

North & South: First Manassas / WIP: The Regiment System
« on: December 04, 2012, 10:56:09 am »
Introduction

As some of you might know, we are working to extend the regiment and army system in our mod.
The whole mod is based on regimental gameplay and we would like to extend the possibilities for them. This is one of the first steps, we have way more importent and unique stuff planned for regiments! :)

The new regiment tool

We are currently working on a tool (or webpage form), to build new regiments, to form new armies or to manage your troops.
Each player can sign in in that system, looking for regiments or more.
Regiment leaders or other high command staff can accept invites, promote their soldiers or giving out medals.

It will be pretty easy to use and will help you to get your regiments managed.

The future

This system can be extended in many different ways, like getting in a war theatre map, to move your armies and regiments around, capturing enemy territories and finally plan your line battles :)

Nothing is final yet, so feel free to post your comments, suggestions and other ideas!

North & South: First Manassas / Map Preview: Antietam [Millers Cornfield]
« on: December 01, 2012, 11:45:14 am »
As some of you might know, our next episode will feature the "Battle of Antietam" on September 17th, 1862.
Antietam will feature new maps, new units, new weapons, new armies and much more!

One of the best mappers, like "Karantukki", are working on different battlegrounds of that bloodiest day in the american history!
Today, I would like to present some screenshots of his latest work, which will feature the "Millers Cornfield".

The Antietam battlefield

Millers Farm

The Cornfield 1

"As we appeared at the edge of the corn, a long line of men in butternut and gray rose up from the ground. Simultaneously, the hostile battle lines opened a tremendous fire upon each other. Men, I cannot say fell; they were knocked out of the ranks by the dozens. But we jumped over the fence, and pushed on, loading, firing, and shouting as we advanced." Major Rufus R. Dawes, 6th Wisconsin

The Cornfield 2

General Hooker's men would march confidently through these fields towards the Dunker Church through tall fields of ripe corn. As they emerged from the southern end of Farmer Miller's fields, the sturdy veterans of CSA General Stonewall Jackson waited for them with rifles at the ready.

The West Woods

As the morning phase of the battle progressed and the attacks of Union Generals Hooker then Mansfield died away, Union Major General Edwin V. Sumner led his men across the battlefield towards the Confederates in the west woods. Unaware of the approaching southern reinforcements, upon entering the woods, his men would be caught in a crossfire, suffering mightily at the hands of stalwart troops led by Major General Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson.

The Updater

Introduction

One of the main goals of the mod is to offer simple and fast updates for the community. We are also supporting historical line battle events with special maps, units or other props.

To get all this done, we created an own mod updater, which is located in your North and South Module folder. Each player can check the current updates, mod news and if needed he can easily download the current patches and bugfixes from the main server.

So you don't need to redownload a full mod version from different webpages, the updater will offer an easy way for you! One click and the new updates will be downloaded and installed automaticly.

How does it work?

Go into your Mount and Blade: Warband \ Module \ North and South folder. Scrolling down, you will find the NaS Updater.exe. Start it by double clicking the file.
After a small while, the updater tool will be open, like the screenshot beyond.
Here you see your current version and the newest mod version.
If both numbers are not the same, try to press the UPDATE button and wait, till your game is patched.
