The Mexican–American War, also known as the Mexican War, the U.S.–Mexican War, the Invasion of Mexico, the U.S. Intervention, the United States War Against Mexico, or the War of Northern Aggression, was an armed conflict between the United States of America and the United Mexican States from 1846 to 1848 in the wake of the 1845 U.S. annexation of Texas, which Mexico considered part of its territory despite the 1836 Texas Revolution.
Combat operations lasted a year and a half, from spring 1846 to fall 1847. American forces quickly occupied New Mexico and California, then invaded parts of Northeastern Mexico and Northwest Mexico; meanwhile, the Pacific Squadron conducted a blockade, and took control of several garrisons on the Pacific coast further south in Baja California. Another American army captured Mexico City, and the war ended in victory for the U.S.
The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo specified the major consequence of the war: the forced Mexican Cession of the territories of Alta California and New Mexico to the U.S. in exchange for $15 million. In addition, the United States assumed $3.25 million of debt owed by the Mexican government to U.S. citizens. Mexico accepted the loss of Texas and thereafter cited the Rio Grande as its national border.
American territorial expansion to the Pacific coast had been the goal of President James K. Polk, the leader of the Democratic Party.[5] However, the war was highly controversial in the U.S., with the Whig Party and anti-slavery elements strongly opposed. Heavy American casualties and high monetary cost were also criticized. The political aftermath of the war raised the slavery issue in the U.S., leading to intense debates that pointed to civil war; the Compromise of 1850 provided a brief respite.

well boy its going to be like one of the parts a Flashback like when you watch Lord of the Rings and the Flashback for that is the Hobbit so the Mexican American War was the early days of the 2 Great American Officers Ulysses S Grant and Robert E Lee before the Civil war starts as there second war

its there first war actually so 2 officers will be added on the mod which is ofcourse Robert E Lee and Ulysses S Grant :P fighting mexicans and i forgot this is during the 1846 to 1848 so the guns will still be Muskets but the Artillery will be kinda a bit Upgraded like those guns from North and South but a bit early its called the Flying Artillery so the speed of the Artillery Train will be increased much more like the speed of the Horse Artillery and much more so stay tuned :P

Just found out about this, I must say I'm anxiously looking forward to this mod. The Mexican American War was a interesting time, especially when we had all the Civil war generals/soldiers served together under one flag. Good luck and I'll be following this closely! :D

thank you  :)  this might take a lot of time since there is just 3 of us working im still looking for a Modeler and a Coder and i just did 3 units so far plus the Mexican Faction alot of work to do and lot of time  ;)

well im planning to change the accuracy and range of both sides the Mexican will have greater advantage in Guerilla (Skirms) and cav while the US will be Arty and Lines

Features:
When it comes to upcoming events when the Alpha is soon gonna be release the mod will be overall siege battles instead of Line Battles because during the Mexican American War what i notice is most of the battles are Siege Battles and Skirmish one as you can see at this great image of a siege battle in Chapultepec own by the mexicans so the mexicans will defend this castle with a high ground advantage but for the americans will start on the low ground but with trees for cover but when it comes to events Americans will be marching in two  columns advancing right to the enemy and into the castle expecting casualties and maybe some rage quits. There will be Marine units on each sides but no ships which is the sad part.

Just read The Killer Angels and spent much of a 3 day road trip reading up on the Mexican-American War. Very interesting war all in all (if not a bit one-sided). I really find it interesting to think about how so many well-known Civil War generals were present and serving together in the US Army. Really makes the Civil War seem a whole lot more desolate.

But best of luck on the mod! Uniforms look great so far, and I can't wait to see some Southern action!

If I recall correctly, the deserters came from multiple US units, not a single 'Irish volunteer' regiment.

US Irish Volunteers are mixed up with Anglo-American forces during this time and Germans. The San Patricios will be another regiment but an Artillery regiment for the Mexicans equip with Rifled Muskets (the only Mexican Regiment that has Rifled muskets the rest are Brown Bess Muskets got from England by trade) The reason why when they deserted from the US Army they carry them along with some ammunition. The San Patricios will be using The Gribeauval cannons *Hint cannons from Napoleonic Wars*

Good to hear about the cannons. Tis a sad true tale of what treatment was used on the Irish be they new immigrants or Natural citizens. BUT when the time comes to reserve regiments I call the San Patricio Artillery.  ;D

I hate to say this but the mod is in slow progress alpha test might be on July 1st.... Alpha Mod Release will be in 2 weeks which is almost the end of July last week of that month.

Probably but it can be awkward to model it that way without it clipping whenever you run.

Sorry guys were still on progress but slow and dont worry were gonna released some updates in a few months including some weapons but nothing new for the Mexican Infantry because they use Brown Bess muskets from England by Trading ^_^

I started working on it again some time ago, but we don't have anything that would make the mod very different from nw, and i think it would end like most other mods. But still, its not a nice move from Hinkel.

i've been in the void lately so i wasn't able to work on this mod especially the fact that im busy in real life and trying to think for future updates for War of 1812 if there will be anything to add just in case and Hinkel i think advertising on my mod page isn't a good idea even though you have almost everything a player can find in your mods but at least have a respect.

Mod will resume development on the 1st or 2nd week of December and just a heads up, there will be a meeting for developers that will start on November 24 so all developers will be receiving a PM 10 AM EST Time.

Development Status per faction as of now done:
US:42%
Mexico: 28%

Main page will be updated in the next day with current units etc.. if there are any questions about the mod please don't hesitate to ask.

I hope they do finish this mod. Give them time, last I heard they were starting work again in December. If they decide not to finish it then fair enough. Alamo and San Jacinto maps would be good, although I would point out that the Texas Revolution was a good decade and a bit earlier. Then again I think the 15th NW server has an Alamo map.

I have an alamo map from NaS and Arkansan has another version for NaS.....I mean they could be converted to this mod but I think it would be better to start from scratch due to texture / model differences in the walls.

Im back from the dead and i wanna apologize behalf of my Dev team for not being able to finished this mod but there will be hope. I will be entrusting this to Navy and Isa's dev team for continuing this mod's development and hope they would be able to finished it in the end.

The Tulancingo Cuirassiers, any chance we could see them with a little more bite than vanilla NW cuirassiers?

No NW mod has really adequately represented the advantages of being armored (at least in melee combat, ballistics are a whole different can of worms), which I suppose I can understand at the risk of upsetting balance. But I must say that paper breastplates and helmets really erodes at the "oomph" factor that the metal-clad cuirassier represents.

Still there are few words that could be better translated I think, if I can get the source will be great, for example "hildago" that make no sense, but "hidalgo" means nobleman and also is a district from mexico.

Nah, uniforms maybe, flags definitely not. Each US regiment carried a flag of their own into battle. That one specifically belonged to the 4th <3

Try to make two separate versions involving a .ZIP file and a .exe instead of just the .exe, please?
Making things in .exe plagues people like me for whom it says "Please install Mount and Blade Warband"
(I think you know what I mean, it'd be a big help if you do that PLUS host it probably at Mediafire?)

Because it's hinkel there is a lot of unreleased stuff from the north and south MOD don't even get me started on the custom units in 1.0 the it's like a love hate relationship with them

Well that sounds really great and awesome but you don't have to post this on my page so please stop i mean you have your own page to announced this and plus why would you wait for Mexican American war mod to be finished or unfinished/cancelled to release or finish working on your thing.

Please have respect with the mod developers and team working on this mod, it is still in development although it is slow that doesn't mean is dead.

Well that sounds really great and awesome but you don't have to post this on my page so please stop i mean you have your own page to announced this and plus why would you wait for Mexican American war mod to be finished or unfinished/cancelled to release or finish working on your thing.

Please have respect with the mod developers and team working on this mod, it is still in development although it is slow that doesn't mean is dead.


Calm down, there is no need to be rude, its just that your last progress was a long time ago people presume its dead, all Hinkel is trying to do is showing that hey all hope aint lost, it isnt exactly the same thing but its somewhat the same, he didnt mean to discredit your mod or promote his mod its not even out yet he said himself and i quote "Its not that I am using this thread as advertising"

The only reason he is doing it or waiting for a mod of the same time period to be dead so that it doesnt have competition and the mod can be more well known that way, i mean when people think of American Revolutionary war they think of Whigs and Tories, Civil war : North and South ( some i think Highwater mark or whatever the name of the mod was) and Franco Prussian war : Blood and Iron, he is doing it out of respect for you, so that when he does release, whatever you are going to release wont go in vain for people wont have to choose 2 mods of the same time period( not exactly the same but you get what i mean).

Because I had no plans to release it to the public, to be honest. Its mostly based on North and South btw, with United States, Mexican Republic and Native Tribes as factions.

Might finish it, if needed :)
