Iron Europe / Iron Europe Music Pack
« on: January 25, 2015, 08:03:44 am »
This is a sub-mod for those who are looking for new atmospheric music to play when they are in Iron Europe. The music packs will be separate for each faction, to allow people to choose what factional songs they want to listen to, and will contain military march songs from during and near the WWI era. If you have any song suggestions, be sure to comment it as I would like to have a lot of songs available for each music pack. Feedback is also welcome and appreciated!

To install, go to your Iron Europe module folder and drag the music.txt file and music folder to your desktop, to back them up. Once done, extract the downloaded Music Pack and send the content to your Iron Europe module folder.

▶ Regiments
▸Infantry regiments will consist of units such as the Cohors, Thorakitai, Machimoi, Phalanx, etc.
▸Skirmisher regiments will consist of units such as Antesignani, Psiloi, etc.
▸Cavalry and Artillery regiments are self explanatory.
▸The infantry will be the bulk of the teams and as such will having a variable amount of regiments. Skirmishers, Artillery, and Cavalry however are limited to one regiment per team. Furthermore, if one team lacks one of the support regiments (i.e. Red team has a Cavalry regiment while the Blue team doesn't), then a regiment can volunteer to be one of the support regiments.

▶ Size
▸Infantry: Must bring atleast 7 men. May also bring archers, the amount of which is dependant on how many attend the event. A standard bearer for each infantry regiment is also required.
▸Cavalry: Atleast 5, no more then 16. Skirmisher Cavalry, however, can go to no more then 12.
▸Skirmishers: Atleast 4, no more then 32.
▸Artillery: Atleast 3, can bring up to 2 Ballistas. A sapper may also be used to bolster the artillery's defensive position.

▶ Formations
▸ Infantry can utilize any historical formations (Testudo, Boar's Head, Hollow Square, etc). They are also allowed to adjust their lines from tight or loose formation, as well as being able to compress into more lines if they so desire.
▸Skirmishers can be in a loose formation when skirmishing and while on the move.
▸Cavalry can engage who they wish when they wish as long as they have more then 3 horsemen. If they have 2 or less, they can only engage if there is a melee already in the process or if they are the only ones left.

▶ Miscellaneous
▸Be mindful of your remarks on global chat while on the server, offensive comments won't be taken lightly.
▸Double shielding is not allowed, you may only pick up another shield if your previous shield is broken. Discarding a near broken shield for a new one is allowed however.
▸If the enemy team has 3 people or less, ramboing and breaking formation is allowed to finish them off.
▸Though not necessarily a rule, it is advised you coordinate and stick together with your teammates. Tactics and teamwork can decide the fate of battles.
▸The events are held on the Antioch_NA server, special thanks to Nikandros for providing it!

Legions / Seleukidai Hypaspistai [NA/EU]
« on: October 28, 2014, 09:54:17 pm »

Hail, Hetairos! Before you stand the Seleukidai Hypaspistai: the elite of the elite and the Basileus' personal guard. We are a North American Regiment that utilizes the Ptolemaic Thorakitai class and units (however we do use other units depending on the events) and the owners of the Antiocheia server, which we use to host events / training. Additionally, to uphold our namesake, we focus our trainings on a multitude of aspects. One of these aspects being close quarters combat, which can play an important and decisive role in Bello Civili events. If you by chance fancy a regiment that desires to be skilled and organized yet maintain a friendly environment, then feel free to give our regiment a try. Moreover, if you're in need of sparring buddies to improve your own fighting ability outside of training, we have many who are willing to answer your call. Our schedule consists of training on Saturday at 6:00pm EST / 10:00pm GMT, with Shield battles on Friday at 6:00pm EST / 10:00pm GMT and Sunday at 4:00pm EST / 8:00pm GMT.
If you have any questions about us that I have not covered, contact one of the officers from the contacts section on the bottom of the thread.

Seleukidai Hypaspistai Banner

Historically, the Hypaspistai (shield-bearers) first appear with Alexandros at the beginning of his reign as his elite troops and bodyguard. He used them extensively throughout his anabasis for special missions, assault of fortifications, and in support of light troops in rough terrain; however, details of the unit seem to disappear by the time Alexandros reaches India and remain as such until appearing in various sources for the three remaining Diadochoi kingdoms in different forms and perhaps briefly in Epeiros with Pyrrhos. Such examples of their deployment count them as possibly numbering a fifth of the 10,000 Arygraspides corps of the Seleukid kings or as the military police and closest guard of the Makedonian kings. Yet, despite their prowess, the Hypaspistai were either forced to evolve past the antiquated hoplite model as in the east or vanish with the fall of their kingdom as in the west.
