Developer Blog 16 - Weapons
Welcome back to our 16th Developer Blog. Today, we’re going to show you three new weapons!
Confederate Bowie Knife
The bowie knife obtained its popularity in the 1840s and was widely used during both the Mexican and the American Civil War. This Confederate bowie knife is brass mounted, has a wooden grip and a typical chipped blade.
1850 Mounted Officer Sword
The 1850 mounted officer’s sword closely resembles the foot officer’s variant and was used by both the North and the South throughout the American Civil War. As most of the American weapons produced during that era, the sword resembles a French pattern with a brass hilt and a dark shagreen grip.
8-Inch Columbiad Cannon
The 8-inch columbiad is a large calibre smoothbore cannon able to fire both solid shot or shells over long ranges. The columbiad saw service from the War of 1812 to the early 20th Century and was mostly used as a seacoast defence weapon.
Thanks for reading.

-
Looks Cool! Thanks for the Blog. :D
-
Looks good, but the edge of the Bowie knife looks somehow a bit weird. As if the metal of the blade went over the edge of the knife (sorry can't really describe it :P ).
-
Looks pretty nice! ;)
-
Can you block with the bowie knife? If you can't, instantly my favourite weapon. Thy chambers shall become forced.
-
Nice work!
-
I want to sit on that cannon :)
-
Fucking amazing. Now, regarding the mounted officer sword, I was reading that most civil war cavalry sabres were not edge, rather blunt. The civil war cavalrymen would simply hold their sabre down to their side and the blunt damage from the sword was said to be far more lethal than an edged sabre. Is the officers sabre like this? Or, will that be a feature fro the regular sabres?

I saw that episode of Pawn Stars, too.

What does Pawn Stars have to do with anything? ::)
-
Amazing work!! :P

The "1850 Mounted Officers Sword" was more often referred to as the "Model 1850 Staff & Field Officer's Sword".
-
Now that's the kind of pedantry even I'm not to prone to.
-
Fantastic job!
-
Cool!
-
Now that's the kind of pedantry even I'm not to prone to.
Some cavalry officers carried a different sword so naming it the mounted officers sword is misleading.

Very epic knife. The sword is quite lovely also.
-
Love the knife! Just wondering what units it may be available to though, since my knowledge of the knife is somewhere along the lines of mainly a backwoods bushwhacker, but hey that's just me.
-
Noice knife.
-
Brilliant work
Especially like the bowie knife; how will it be used?

It's cannon people! Still makes me laugh when people go can't wait for the new canon or to shoot with it....i always imagine them with one of these clicking away at their computer screens.
It's cannon! Not Canon!
-
Canon was an acceptable variant spelling until the 19th century. There's no reason it shouldn't be now since we get it from the French 'canon'.

I don't think people cared about spelling of words in those days. I mean, I found Waterloo being written as Waterlo quite a few times.
