Yes. There really hasn't been any since you/Norwegian/StephanGH left 1.5 years ago.

If you can see this Gi I'd be interested to hear your response to what I said.

Out of curiosity, what's wrong with competitive for you to hold not playing it as a badge of honour?

Most of us have played the game for a long time (December 2011 in my case) . Some of us are ex competitive players, for example you might know Nozza.

In our collective experience the competitive scene is filled with people who are power hungry, egotistical, disloyal and infested with drama. There are exceptions to this, for example I know your 15thYR has lasted a long time. But overwhelmingly this is not the case.

Now we are simply a casual regiment that runs events like they used to be back in the old days, lots of lines and limited specialists with no FiC. Stable, and drama free.
Fair enough, personally I find casual events mixed with a competitive event per week to be enjoyable rather then all competitive/casual, although most of my regiment would disagree.

I understand what you mean by that but to me, it sounds more like a description of the NW community rather than one of its competitive side. The only difference with the competitive community players is that they tend to be more active on FSE/ingame and therefore might put some people under the illusion that they are worse than players approaching the game with a more casual aspect. Some of us are, no denying about that, but that doesn't make it an 'overwhelmingly majority'.

You can run a casual regiment and be the most egotistical, power hungry, and drama making sort of person and there have been examples like that in the past. With that being said, you need every type of environments for every type of people. I am sure lots of people enjoy the casual aspect of the game and for that, it's a good thing you regiment exists.

Edit: Good thing to see Nozza is still alive and doing well, miss the guy.

Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often.

I'm actually glad you asked/responded to this guys and hopefully you understand our position. I really think you can't argue it, it's really a question of how widespread are the things I describe.

I will concede overwhelming is a stretch of a word. But I genuinely believe a majority of players exhibit some, or all of that behaviour.

Imo in the competitive community it's easier to deal with those kinds of people due to everyone knowing one another. If I know some one is a problem or could cause trouble, I simply won't let them in the regiment, regardless of skill.

Unfortunately, that's the downside of pushing competitiveness, you also get lots of drawbacks coming with it, some of them making it look like it's not really worth it in the end.

I can only speak for myself but same as GI, in the 8 years spent in that community I have found my best memories in balancing things between the competitive and casual aspect of the game, and I would not give up on either of them for all the gold in the world.

But yeah, I totally understand why some people don't like competition and prefer what looks in their books like a more healthy and friendly type of environment.

Full casual or full competitive is not fun. Game gets stale too fast, you need a balance of the two.

Respectfully I'd say we've succeed in avoiding competitive almost completely for our existence, and yet are one of the biggest regiments in the game.

People enjoy our community.

Totally agree with you Gi, but I would extend it to include the RP community which is often overlooked; to me comp and RP are the too extremes with casual in the middle, a mix of all these being the most enjoyable approach for me personally.

I'd like to add we despise this behaviour so much because it doesn't do any good for the game.

New people join regiments lead by these kind of people, and what do they see? Power hungry manchildren. They then conclude regiments are run by idiots and either: join servers like NRP or Minisiege and mock regiments, or leave the game completely.

This mass of crappy people are killing the game, they always have. This is what makes us so 'xenophobic'.

It’s of course your decision how you want to run your regiment. But stating that you guys don’t do competitive as something to be proud of comes off as arrogant in my opinion.

Years of dealing with bad apples, combined with the negative connotations surrounding competitive play has made it a matter of pride for us and aids us in the places we recruit from.

It's part of a highly effective marketing strategy.

Our cav is trash at cav vs cav though. :'(

If you've ever been charged by our cav alongside inf though, you were probably annihilated.
