3lb barrel, standard Horse Artillery Galloper Gun barrel

Vast majority of Horse Artillery units don't have horses, not exactly practical on a battlefield the size we usually have to play with, and pretty costly
No tarletons at this event, space restrictions when we were coming across meant we were down to the bare minimum of kit, so all the bulky stuff i.e. tarletons were left back in england

Funnily enough... I don't. And I do not appreciate the constant condescending tone you keep using with me

I was talking in general.

I find horse artillery without horses to be pretty much the same category as cavalry without horses. You're missing the one vital thing that makes your impression different from the rest. I understand why it happens, of course. A great uniform, being something 'more' and 'special, and the fact that you can swag around with cavalry sabres, and when people comment on your lack of horses you just bring up the 'expensive'-excuse. If people can't afford an impression in full, or are simply not willing to do that full picture with all the gear that makes that impression, as it should be done, I don't think they should do it. Simple as that. Exceptions only for very expensive not-used items, such as fire-arms for cavalry and artillery. I can understand not spending +1000 euro on something you'll just carry around. Great respect to those that do, of course.

This comes from a cavalryman who does sit on a horse, who's sick of camping next to 'dismounted' dragoons that go around camp telling everybody how great it is to be a cavalryman.

Finally a decent pic of me in kit has emerged.

And by decent I mean it's really far away and you can't see my face at all, but it's full body and I'm not stood behind anyone.

I'm on the left with an axe tucked under my arm, trying to wrestle the goddawful armadillo gloves we have to wear into a buckler.

I was in fighting gear all day since my soft kit isn't really ready yet - just boots, hose and the braies that are hidden under my gambeson -  so by the end of it I was praying that I get my proper undershirts by the next show.
