Don't get me wrong, I'm not attacking you EMP :P I appreciate your remarks

This pack is really hit and miss with me, and while I was still playing NW, I ultimately uninstalled. It's a shame it's in it's final version, because it could really be updated and be a quite nice pack. Well, here are the problems I found with the pack after about 200 hours of testing various versions (all problems have still not been fixed).

1. Some skins are broken, for instance, one of the units has a shoulder pad that does the harlem shake whenever you move, and penetrates your shoulder blade when you crouch and aim. There are also a few other problems with some of the skins.
The shoulder thing was fixed in the last patch. What are the other uniform glitches you noticed? If I get back to this mod I'd like to fix them, but I can't fix them if I don't know what they are ;D

2. The textures are a nice update, they are a "bit" higher res looking, but at the same time, they removed a lot of the color and saturation, and overall, gave the game a more gritty, browner look, which would be okay if the game was meant to be a nitty gritty combat game in the vain of Chivalry, but Napoleonic Wars was never meant to have a dark tone to it, it was meant to be a more colorful, lighthearted war game.
Play the mod with HDR enabled. Playing vanilla NW with HDR enabled makes it a bit more "nitty gritty" as well and not so OTT on the saturation front.

3. The random objects (palm trees, bushes, rocks) are not only glitchy, out of place and ugly, but also put you at an inherent disadvantage against those who are not using the pack.
I've only encountered one instance where a flower was glitchy, the rest of the new plants were fine and looked nice (btw, there are only five new bushes, and two new flowers. The rest are simple replacements for the awful grass meshes of vanilla). The palm tree can be easily removed if you are able to use OpenBRF.

4. The blood is far too obnoxious, and while it looks nice, it is overly exaggerated and tends to get in the way a lot.
How does it get in the way? It was originally supposed to help officers see if their troops are hitting at range. Plus, if you get shot (IRL-ish), there's a lot more blood than M&B offers.

5. The death sounds are far too annoying, and they quite literally sound like they were ripped from porn films. They make my ears bleed, and I know many others feel the same.
Nurdbot had a fix for that, just remove them and they won't play. If I get back to this mod, I'll probably remove some of the longer sounds because they get a bit bugged on deathmatch mode. And what kind of porn are you watching? XD

6. The new animations are entirely hit and miss, some are good, others are not. The reload animation LOOKS good, but does not perform well. Unlike the vanilla reload animation, it does not give you an indicator of when it is safe to move without breaking reload, and it is left down to mostly guesswork and timing, which is easily botched in a heated battle where the reload could have meant life and death. On the other hand, the cavalry animations are just awful, even with the sword. It looks goofy with the sword, and even more so with a pistol or spyglass. Honestly, I think if anyone rode a horse like that with their pistol extended out like it does in the game, they would be flogged by their own comrades for looking like a douchebag.
Use the "unlimited" option for ragdolls to get the best out of the death animations. The reload movement thing doesn't need much guessing, there's a part at the end of the mod's reload there you put the ramrod back into the gun, that's when you can move without breaking it. I have no idea which version of the mod you're using, but the cav animation was removed a version or two back.

7. Finally, the mod pack seems like it really had no goal, and was rather just a random compilation of any old mod there was to add. .
The mod was my own personal version of NW. Nurdbot and a few others said that I shouldn't let it go to waste and share it with the community, I'm sorry that my taste differs from yours :P

On one hand you add desaturated, grimey textures, realistic smoke, gore and "realistic death sounds", and on the other you add Pokemon and Pirates of the Caribbean songs to the pianos, plus MLP themed admin panels. Which are you aiming for, a darker, more true to life mod pack, or a lighthearted mod pack? Don't get me wrong, the music replacements are amazing, but they do not fit with the other mods at all
Awww, I'm sorry that you don't like fun ;D I like fun, and Pokemon, and MLP, and PotC... The musician instruments were also never touched, only the organ and piano tunes. Don't like fun? Replace them with your backed up vanilla files.

Overall, it is a fairly decent mod pack for those who want a more atmospheric experience, but I'd rather take the skins and music replacers (and smoke enhancer, cause that was pretty nice) and play NW that way, because in my opinion, everything else in the pack detracts from the experience.
Thanks for the feedback! It was probably the longest feedback I've received (apart from Navy telling me all about the bugs in detail). But remember, this is my own compilation of stuff I want in NW, not what everyone else wants.
Check out mods I've worked on: Blood and Iron: Age of Imperialism, and North and South!

I'd just read the names, they are pretty obvious what they are. Once you found them right click on the propeties and check the time of them if you are deleting the long ones.

Hey Parrot, I apologize if you have already explained this somewhere in the past 52 pages but could you explain to me how to change the idle musket animations and the aiming animations? I liked the aiming animation from what I believe was version 5.0 but the one apparently added recently with the more outstretched hands looks pretty silly to me.

Gracias :)

Is there a way to install this but keep the 95th rifles instead of the 60th?

Yes, thanks to the new mod layout. Install the mod as usual, then head over to your NW module folder and open up "module.ini". Use the find function to search for "custom" and it'll take you to the section that lists all the customisable units.

Remove the # from infront of the unit you want, and add the # infront of the unit that's currently there. All units have been named so it's easy to see what you're replacing/removing.

Not only can you do this for uniforms, but also for animations!

Once you've done that and saved the file, head over to the rar archive that has the troops.txt files in and extract the file for the troop you just added to the game. Rename it "troops.txt" and let it replace the one that's currently there.

Enjoy!

Just follow those steps, but instead of changing a uniform brf, there's one for animations. Just switch out the #s and you'll be good to go :D

I found the module folder, but I could not find any numbers and when I looked up custom all I found was "load_mod_resource = nw_custom_anim"

Is that the right thing to change?

Sorry in advance, I'm a bit slow when it comes to this stuff :(

I know you folks are finished making new pack updates, but is there any chance of a v5 Lite?
