Game not launching at all...

This should perhaps be a post in the taleworlds forum but considering this happened while I was playing NW I will post it here.

I tried to minimise the game while playing and it crashed (This happens a lot, I don't care about that) but now when I try to start the game again on steam, steam does the little green box thing whatever to indicate it's loading but the launcher that lets you choose modules never appears and then steam just exits the game. Help ?  .

So far I have:

1. Restarted my computer
2. Deleted the rgl_config thing
3. Reinstalled the game
4. Verified the integrity of the game cache
5. Deleted appcache on the guidance of Steam's notoriously bad technical support

Anymore suggestions?

EDIT: When I check task manager when trying to run the game my disk usage skyrockets to 100% until when steam closes the game it drops back to normal levels.

Tried even more solutions, and no results  . Guess I'll just have to wait for Bannerlord to play some more Mount and Blade .  I wuv u NW  :c

Have you tried obliterating and then reinstalling the steam client itself? You can backup and transplant your common folder to avoid having to redownload any games therein.

Tried deleting steam and all my games, and it still refuses to work

%99.999 sure a reformat would fix the issue but I'm sure you know this already. is M&B dependent on DirectX, VB or .NET?

I tried a system restore which refuses to work because apparently it can't access some stupid file, but resetting the computer and wiping the hard drive seems a bit too extreme for this.

EDIT: Got the system restore to finally work but it still wont run the game... this is getting ridiculous now

Got it to work after a lot of trial and error.

The solution for this problem involves going into C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData*\Roaming\Mount&Blade Warband   ---   Delete the last file

* = To see AppData you need to enable hidden files (So you can see them) - doing this varies on different operating systems but on Windows 8 you go to the view tab on the top of the file explorer and tick the box 'Hidden items'

Then delete mount and blade from steam or uninstall it with the non steam version (I am not sure whether this is a necessary step, but I did it anyway).

Reinstall the game and it should work!
