As both French and Allied troops settle into winter quarters after 9 months of campaigning, both sides take stock of their hard fought victories and losses during another year of war in the Peninsular. Allied forces have made outstanding progress towards threatening France itself, with their conquests to the North and with Zaragoza captured they have a base from which to continue operations in the region. France however still hold a firm foothold in the south, even securing the key strait of Gibraltar. Spanish guerrilla activity still threatens French interests to the east but without a base of fortification from which to operate and French forces still holding one of the keys to Portugal at Cuidad Rodrigo. In summary whilst the Allies have secured the most ground, French troops still maintain control over the most substantial number of forts in the region, a sound draw for the end of this Campaign...
