History:The 24th Michigan Infantry was organized at Detroit, Michigan and mustered into Federal service on August 15, 1862. It was assigned to the famous Iron Brigade in the Army of the Potomac. The brigade's commander General John Gibbon had requested a new regiment be added to his command because its four original regiments (the 2nd, 6th, and 7th Wisconsin and the 19th Indiana) had been severely depleted by combat action and numbered less than 1000 men total by October 1862. He said that ideally it should be a Western regiment since the others were from that part of the country. Gibbon's request granted, the 24th Michigan joined the brigade and saw its first action at Fredericksburg taking on a nuisance battery of Confederate horse artillery south of the town.

The 24th saw no major action during the Chancellorsville campaign, but at Gettysburg it "Went into action with 496 officers and men. Killed & mortally wounded: 89; Otherwise wounded: 218; Captured: 56; Total casualties: 363. Five color bearers were killed and all the color guard killed or wounded."

Colonel Morrow was wounded while holding the regimental flag. "Just before reaching the fence, Col. Morrow was wounded in the head while bearing the colors. He was stunned by the wound and fell down. He was then helped from the field by Lt. Charles Hutton of Company G. A portion of the national flag carried by the 24th Michigan is held by the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh as item XX.330.244, "Linen, 31.5"x43" US flag fragment, four red stripes and 4.5 white stripes, one piece attached to the top by a thread. Very poor condition, stained, many holes, splits and ragged edges. Part of a US flag captured at Gettysburg by the 26th North Carolina Volunteer Infantry Regiment ."

From thenceforth, the 24th participated in the rest of the Army of the Potomac's campaigns and battles, but was not present at Appomattox because it had been reassigned to a garrison post in Illinois two months earlier.

The regiment was selected as escort at funeral of President Abraham Lincoln.

The regiment was mustered out on June 30, 1865.

Warning to those traveling on this thread. These guys seem to be happy go lucky gents, but they really break some common sense community rules. The sprang up and immediately try to regiment snipe some members of the Eastern Iron Brigade, who are apart of the Union Brigade. I would really love to get some new regiments in this mod, but not in this manner. Especially when they promote "community united" but secretly trying to take your fellow members.

*snip*

He proceeded to unfriend because I was pestering too much.

ok one, i never reg sniped 2, i respect others & i have a common sense 3, i was never wanting to start shit but apparently i always get cought up in drama shit i dont want it anymore i'm about to retire ffs (btw i'm not apart of this i'm just helping him with the TS thats all). i'm a good person in heart i just want a normal life but i cant have that cause of this BS i hate seeing people suffer Owen here is going through alot right now i understand that, but why is it really worth the fight. whats the main point of this anyways. why cant we just get along cause for all you know it could turn nasty to the point where all armies go down cause if you care about ruining this persons effort of reviving a good game then it might also ruin other efforts to revive it, why worry about one person when you could worry about something else. i respect the DA, UB, & the CSA they have good people and dedicated members to this mod. I love this mod with all my heart i'm a big history buff myself and love learning about this era. i loved seeing videos of this but now these actions idk if i wanna stay in this community its to negative to others now. i miss old times when people were having fun, hanging out with other regs and chatting, & most of all doing great awesome events. what happened to those times. i play this game for the historical feel and for fun. I wish people weren't treated like they are shit & were treated with kindness. Now if anyone sees this feel free to Hate, but keep this in mind that if you meet someone be friendly, get to know them, & if they are different Race/ Culture/ Religion feel free to get to know them who cares what Race/ Religion/ Culture its only about being respectful & Kind.

Um, Ben, at what point did I mention you in this? Nowhere did I mention yourself in this situation. Steam messages are self explanatory, and it wasn't an "idea". Doesn't take more than two chromosomes to figure out that you did in fact message Eastern Iron Brigade Regiments. I mean, just read the language in the screenshot. It just disappointing that a new community as yourself did this.

But I'm glad you both are full of love about this mod, I am as well. But this isn't the proper way to start. You ended up stepping on the toes of the only remaining communities in this decaying mod. Quite frankly sad.

Sadly, I am assuming Owen is claiming lead on this community. So his actions reflect the community he represents. That includes yourself and his cluster of friends. But I get what you meant. I wouldn't take it personal per say.

Side Note: Nobody here is talking trash. It's a simple warning to those adventuring down here. I'm sure the Union Army Brigade can recover from it's debacle.
