Well seems like nukes do jack shit...

Me and my friend just nuked Dublin four times and London once. Didn't really do anything, no civilian casualties, no loss of divisions or men that were stationed in the cities.

fix your nukes, paradox.

I want to kill Irishmen and Brits from the comfort of my German couch.

They lower national unity and that's pretty much it.

Which doesn't make sense in realistic terms.

Nuclear bombs are useless in this game I guess then.

Nuclear Bombs are like glorified confetti, they aren't worth the hassle unless you want to lower NU.

I was enthusiastic to play Vic2 but it just seems so much more complex than Ck2 and HoI4 that i kind of gave up,

It is all about your eco and knowing where to expand. Disband any fleets you have at the beginning, they are just expensive and mostly useless - as they are old ships. Next, bump the taxes of your lower and middle class to 100%. Only raise your tarrifs if you are going into minus. But try lowering your army and navy budget first. Expand into undeveloped regions first. It is Victoria II after all, imperialism is what the game is about. I would write more, but I am on my iPad right now. Hope this helps at least a little. Good nations to get familiar with the game are: France and the US for standard gameplay, and Japan for westernisation. Brazil is also a good chooce but in my opinion very easy, dull and slowpaced - boring.
