Cavarly League News - Our opening match against the Husaren-Regiment "GrafVonZieten" Nr.4.

As mentioned previously on this thread, we were to meet the Nr4 in battle as our first official match of the Cavalry League. We were satisfied with our preparations and were looking ahead of this match with grown excitement and a mix of caution & confidence. Although aware of our abilities and current good form, we also perfectly knew that the best way to lose against a regiment such as the Nr4 was to underestimate its actual strength. We had faced them earlier in practice, and though the first half of the match had been mostly in our favour, they had managed to catch us off guard in the last instance of that game, making the clear statement that we could not allow ourselves to lose focus throughout the entirety of that match.

From the get-go, we acknowledged we were in for a ride. The Nr4 was present in full strength, with large numbers and on time. As for us, we were missing a couple of players and eventually had to delay the start of the match as much as we could. Ultimately, however, we had to play the first round slightly outnumbered (from one player only though), but the difference on the field was felt much wildly than through numbers only. The Nr4 charged at us with full-confidence, ready to rip into us at full speed while we were still under the stress of some late player joining us, with our heads definitely not fully into that match. That first round was a slaughter, we lost a couple of men in the very early stage of the battle, and quickly, we were at a disadvantage it was almost impossible to come back from. Once that first round was lost and as we were meant to jump straight into the second one - still under some shock as this was definitely not the start we had hoped for - Erik and Skittles's speeches revitalized us. We had trained hard for that, and regardless of how shitty that start was, we had to step-it up, right here, right now.

From that point and with the late arrival of Ciiges and Shagon, we were truly ready to compete. We showed a much better face in the following rounds, trading one to one with the Nr4 in some fierce and close engagements. Though they were still in the lead, the mentality was now completely different. Communication was more relaxed, and so were our plays, both individually and as a unit. The pressure was still on, but instead of letting it overwhelm us, we strived on it. Slowly but surely, the 4e as a whole came together and just like an old squad of veterans who almost all know each other perfectly, we started to switch the tides of the battle. We evened up the scoreline, then took the lead in the following round, only to increase it a moment later. But that's where the quality of the Nr4 has to be praised. Many regiments would have shank from that point and give us a comfortable victory but Felix and his men didn't give up. Instead, they stole a round from us in convincing fashion and applied the pressure back instantly. It was only through an intense and exhausting fight that we were first able to secure the draw, then the victory. But even then, as we were looking to conclude the match on a 7-3 win, the Nr4 kept themselves together and succeeded in taking that last round, ending that match on a scoreline which certainly reflected the intensity of that encounter and how well the german regiment played.

We had triumphed, but this victory was a costly one. We had gave-up more rounds than expected, had been caught up at the beginning of the battle by a better-prepared opponent and only through difficulties - and thanks to an iron-will from many of our players - had we managed to defeat our enemies. With another strong-looking opponent ahead of us in the second week of the Cavalry League - the 6e Régiment de Hussards - we knew we could not repeat such poor start and had to work hard on the mistakes we made to make sure they would not be seen again in the remainder of the competition.

Our Match was in fact spectacular, you could not expect it to be more thrilling. From our point of view, we had the hardest opponent directly at the beginning of the League and enjoyed this clash really much. Although the Nr4 lost, we were satisfied with this close result. I think this Match was an intense opening for all of us into the Tournament and we wish you guys best of luck for the upcoming fights. GG, WP!

Likewise man! I am really gutted I fucked-up my recording cause that's one of these intense matches you look forward to re-watch sometime later but for some reasons I only have the first 2 mins of the battle and the last 30 seconds after the match was over, rest is gone and I can't wrap my head on how it happened cause I made sure to double-check everything when I was in-game. 

Hopefully, I can get my shit sorted for the next one and add-up some video footage alongside the written summaries of our matches. Thanks again for the match and good luck in the next ones!
