~The Sims 4~ (Actually E.A. and The Sims 4)
« on: October 22, 2014, 04:03:26 pm »
A couple of my classmates were raving a week ago about how crazy awesome The Sims 4 was, and that actually intrigued me (as someone who played, and evetually hated, The Sims 3), to try it out. Well, I legally bought and downloaded the game from KickassTorrents The Origin Store, and noticed that this £50 full release title had managed to cut back even the most basic features of the original Sims 3 (even without any expansion packs).
So I decided to compile, off the top of  my head, a list of casualties in EA's continued War on consumers.

- Cars
- Infant Age for sims
- Large, seamless, open-world maps
- Create A Style mode for editing clothes, furniture, etc
- Pools
- Buildings which house businesses
- School Buildings
- A couple of careers, including Politics and Law (ffs)
- Newspapers (and the postman who delivered them)
<more coming>

Having seen how bad some of EA's recent releases have been (SimCity, B4 multiplayer, NFS Rivals, Dead Space 3?) ,and the fact that it had been voted 2 years in a row as worst something in the USA by its own customers, I wonder what you guys think about it?

Should EA be crowned as the Ca$hWh0re K1ng?
Should we turn to online piracy in order to say "fuck you" to such publishers?
Is Ubi$oft (or even Activision, who knows?) gonna steal EA's role as "most hated publisher 2k14-15"?
Is everyone who plays The Sims a) homosexual b) female c) a homosexual female?

Should EA be crowned as the Ca$hWh0re K1ng?
"I am not sure, it does not seem as if they are just spewing games all over, trying to make cash. It just seems like they actually want to improve and upgrade earlier games, but are failing horribly at it."

Should we turn to online piracy in order to say "fuck you" to such publishers?
"It most definitely seems like a viable option."

Is Ubi$oft (or even Activision, who knows?) gonna steal EA's role as "most hated publisher 2k14-15"?
"With the games Ubisoft is making now, and the actual quality they have presented, and are presenting now... They might very well go from a very respected, loved even, publisher, to one of the most, perhaps most, hated one. I mean, Assassin's Creed is starting on the path of being an overrated CoD."

Is everyone who plays The Sims a) homosexual b) female c) a homosexual female
"No."
Probably one of the very few old-timers here who hasn't been a regimental leader.

Why is there no "no" option?  :(

Is Ubi$oft (or even Activision, who knows?) gonna steal EA's role as "most hated publisher 2k14-15"? Not a chance
Is everyone who plays The Sims a) homosexual b) female c) a homosexual female? All of the above.

Just gonna throw this out there before anyone does anything stupid:

Quote
5. Copyright infringement
We do not tolerate piracy. Anything connected to piracy, warez, cracks, hacks, serial keys and key generators or any other sort of copyright infringement can get you into trouble, regardless of whether you do it directly or indirectly. Infringement of this rule will result in immediate mute and possible ban depending on the severity of the breach. This rule also applies to the unauthorised use of other user's game assets (both from this community and any other). If you wish to use someone else's work in your mod you will need to get their written permission first, preferably alongside some form of proof that you have it.

(It's because I love you guys)

Just give the topic a wide berth, and just say that you won't buy their games instead. It makes things much easier for everyone involved.

Point is, he isn't breaking the rules... Yet. he only suggests piracy, but not encouraging or denying it, for that matter. So technically it wouldn't be breaking the rules.

Yet they make games like Valiant Hearts, Rayman Legends & Child of Light.

Can we at least discuss whether piracy should be an appropriate reaction to EA stealing our hard-earned cash? Like, debate online piracy, and its effects. (It's a fine line I know, ty for giving us such a wide berth <3 ) :)

True, but sadly those are smaller, more "niche" titles, for undoubtedly a smaller audience. The big franchises have been on the way down for quite some time :( (AC3 was meh, W_D an overhyped disappointment...) I actually respected Ubi$oft once upon a time...

Why is there no "no" option?  :(

True, fixed.

Every single person that has played a Sims game has at least once killed his sims using either ovens or pools. If you didn't, you haven't played these games like you should have played them.

I killed them with fire. Let them invent stuff (fireworks) and set the house on fire.
Then play a violin competition with the Grim reaper and start all over again.

Having a huge house party, and, at the end, removing all the doors, windows, fridges and ovens from the house is the best way to go. Who knows? the Sims may turn cannibal at the end :)
