History of The Kaiserlich-Königliche Armee

History
The name "Imperial and Royal Army" was born in 1745 and the "royal" part referred to the Apostolic Kingdom of Hungary. The key feature of the army of the Austrian Empire during the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars (1792-1815) was that, due to the multi-national nature of the territories, regiments were split into Germans units (which included Czech-troops recruited from Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia, Polish and Ukrainian units recruited from the territory of Galicia, Flemings and Walloons territory of the former Austrian Netherlands, and Italians) and Hungarian units (which included troops from Croatia and Transylvania).
Units
Wartime conscription resulted in elements of untrained men in every battalion, a problem exacerbated by incoherent training across the regions. The army was beset by constant government frugality and a plethora of confusing orders and reorganisations. Although some regiments were disbanded in 1809 following the loss of their recruiting-grounds, others were allocated new areas yet kept their old designations; for example, the Walloon regiments whose recruiting areas were transferred to Bohemia.
Leaders
The most powerful individual in the Army of the Austrian Empire during the period was Archduke Charles, who implemented wide-ranging and modernising reforms, particularly following the crushing defeat at Austerlitz. Charles was responsible for the severe heck Napoleon suffered at the battle of Aspern-Essling, but after the subsequent defeat at Wagram retired from active commandSource

Infanterie Regimente
Josef Graf von Colloredo N°57 und Prinz Reuss zu Greiz N°18

Our line infantry regiments will guide you on your journey to become a disciplined and skilled Fusilier and as our Infantry Detachment is an expert in melee, you'll learn to swipe foes aside carrying out effective formations in a swift & efficient manner. Showing unprecedented accuracy and great strength in melee we are a great challenge to anyone who we encounter. We rarely back off from a fight and often start them ourselves. Despite our intimidation and strength, we are nonetheless a friendly group who enjoy gaming and hanging around. So don't be afraid to join the group, and definitely don't scare off of hanging out with us!

History of the Regiment

In total there were more than 60 Infantry regiments within the Imperial and Royal army of Austria. The Nr57 and Nr18 were both 'German' units, comprised and recruited mainly of Bohemian infantrymen. They weren't officially German, because of the location being the contemporary Czech Republic, but were under jurisdiction of the German speaking part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Therefore the main instated language was that of German, but factually very little of their members spoke German, and only a few of the officers and NCOs which lead the troops had an adequate grasp on the German language. Nonetheless, the Nr57 and Nr18 as German Fusiliers, being considered the elite of the Austro-Hungarian infantry, despite the language issues, were considered a crucial part of the army and were not afraid to show their strength on the battlefield. The Germans were moreover known for their unprecedented accuracy and their morale and discipline in battle. They were some of the few elite units in the Napeolonic Era who knew how to apply (and hold) the cavalry square, without losing faith or routing, for a long time. The Nr18 was long known as the 'Stuart' Regiment, but in the years of 1809-1817 became known as the Infantry Regiment ‘Prinz Reuss zu Greiz’.

History of the Uniform

Uniform
The Austrian infantrymen wore the simplest uniforms during the Napoleonic era in Europe. It was comprised of a white outfit, and the only colouring which would identify the origin and number of the regiment, was a colouring of the collars and arm-facings, along with part of the inside of the jacket being coloured in the regimental colours. To show that the unit was of a 'German' origin, the breeches (trousers) were also coloured white, contrary to the Hungarian units, which wore sky blue breeches, with golden insignia. The original design for the uniforms (except for the colours) was adopted from the British uniforms, which shared in their simplicity, back at the beginning of the 19th century. The hat which the infantry wore was a simple shako, copied off the then existent military norm. Prior to 1807 (approx.) the larger part of the army would wear a cap, similair to the cuirassier helmets, which the Infantry got rid of around 1808 but remained the standard wear for the cuirassier units.
The officers of the German Fusiliers would share the same clothing, but would not carry a backpack and often had a different colour to make them easier to spot. They would carry a black outfit, breeches and jacket, with the same colours of the regiment as the enlisted, on their facings and collar.

Weapons
The Austrio-Hungarian infantry would often carry no more than a standard bayonet rifle, occasionaly accompanied by a sabre briquet. However it would sometimes occur that German Fusilier units would show up without a bayonet attached to their rifle, as it made their accuracy better and allowed for more agile movement.
The officers wore nothing more than a pistol and a standard line-infantry-officer sword.

Husaren Regiment Erzherzog Joseph Anton Palatinat von Ungarn N°12

We are a dedicated group of players who strive to fully use the Hungarian Hussar unit to devastating effect; crippling any opponent we encounter. Our pool of CO's and NCO's will make sure you will feel at home very quickly, so you can participate and have good fun in our battles. That said, one does not need to be skilled from the start to join us: we are more than happy to train people in the Hussar fighting style. When upon the battlefield we let our sabers loose and allow the enemies to feel the cold hard steel, we are the Nr12 Hussars.

History of the Regiment

In a whole there were only 12 regiments of Hungarian Hussars, but nonetheless they were deadly and effective. The Hungarians have a traditional culture of being horse-masters and praise anything that involves cavalry. It therefore made the Hungarian Hussars some of the most effective mounted fighters in the history of cavalry warfare. Even though there were many German and Austrian Hussar regiments, the Austro-Hungarian army relied more or less constantly on the Hungarian hussars to perform the most difficult of tasks. It came down to the strong conviction and pompous attitude of Hungarians to claim that they were unfit to be dismounted units, in the time of war, and that they considered it more of a plague to be 'stuck' as infantry, rather than an honour. It was on the Hungarian hussar uniform that all other hussar units in Europe would base their uniforms and colours, such was their impact.

History of the Uniform

Colours of the Nr12:
Source

Uniform
The Hungarian Hussars were the first to create the 'stereotype' uniform on which all the other hussar units during the Napoleonic era would base themselves. It consisted of a regular Dolman, with a grey colour, covered by a pelisse carried on one shoulder, in the identical colour, but often darker, or blackened, to contrast the Dolman. As in the case of infantrymen, the Hungarian units of the Hussar detachment of the Austro-Hungarian army, would carry sky blue trousers (breeches) with insignia embedded on them. The shakos of Hussars would often differ in colour depending on which regiment or region they were from, but the N°12 relied on the regular Black, which was the average colour of any hussar unit. Their buttons however were coloured in white, which indicated the veterancy of the unit.

Weapons
Hussars in the Napoleonic era would often carry rifles or carbines with them, as they acted as 'light' dragoons, prior to their mainly melee based meaning. Their rifles would be 84 cm long and weighed in at 2.45kg, which was the lightest carbine available, as they needed to maintain an agile and light movement. Their swords were of a standard short (84cm) length and thin, to allow for swifter movement and quick fighting styles. The officers would not carry any different, as for the Hussar regiments in the Austro-Hungarian Army it was traditional to carry the same uniform as officer, as it was by infantry, with minor details and insignia pointing to the officer statute. They would carry the same sword, but a pistol to replace the carbine. The trumpeters and flag-bearers would share this with the officer class.

Artillerie Regiment Prinz zu Lothringen-Lambesc N°7

We the artillery are the underdog of any linebattle. Time after time people wrongfully underestimate what difference we really make. As elite artillerymen with an abundance of experience and skill, we manage to cripple any army that opposes us, and in combination with our infantry and cavalry allies, are able to take down any Goliath. As veterans of the Austro-Hungarian army we offer tips and tricks to learn the basic needs to be an effective artilleryman. Think you got what it takes to be a real soldier? Join and find out!

History of the Regiment

There were not many artillery regiments in the Austro-Hungarian Army, mostly because the Austrian army was so effective that it rarely came to an instance where the artillery would get wiped out or destroyed. Also the size and veteran-cy of the already existent Artillery regiments of the late 18th century, made it unnecessary to invest or to employ new artillery detachments. Thus the N°7 was one of the elites of the Austro-Hungarian armies and often showed its strength on the battlefield. In total there were merely 16 regiments of artillery, but only 8 were active during peace-time. The N°7 however was one which was at all times active and stayed active for many years after the Napoleonic Wars.

History of the Uniform

Colours of the Nr7:
Orange Jacket accompanied by a black bicorn and white breeches. Standard issue boots for infantry.Source

Uniform
Austrian Artillerymen of the 7th regiment would all wear the same outfit, an orange/brownish jacket accompanied by a bicorn hat and white breeches. This outfit was the traditional outfit of the Austrian Artillery, and much like the infantry, most artillery would share this uniform, to keep the army colours simple. Orange-brown would also be used by Grenzer (Border) units, and acted as a camouflage, so that they could often hide in ambush positions after which they could spring their traps, unnoticed. As the artillery was often at a safe distance from the battlefield, they were allowed to wear bicorn hats, which allowed for more style and demonstrated a whiff of elite-ness amongst the troops. Contrary to the units on the battlefield, they did not have the risk of losing their hats when moving quickly. In melee combat however the artillery would often be bothered by their hats and remove them. A trivial yet important and influential fact about Austrian troops.

Weapons
The Austrio-Hungarian artillery would carry swords and sabre brickets, accompanied by the ramrods needed to load up the cannons. Occasionally the artillery would act as its own guards and they thus often had a bayonet mounted on a standard issue rifle along side their ramrods. The cannons of the austrian artillery were unmatched by many of the other armies in the Napoleonic Era. The artillery fielded a total of 742 Guns and an abundance of munition and shots to fire. The Austrian army was very fond of their howitzers as opposed to many other armies, as their arsenal consisted of more than 15% Howitzer cannons and munitions.

Associated Information and Details

Our Servers

The Kaiserlich-Königliche Armee community hosts 2 significant servers which have shaped the Napoleonic Wars community for a long time already. On these servers one can train their skills for either becoming an excellent Infantryman, or an exquisite Horseman. On both of these servers one has the opportunity to fight along side strangers, or a selected team, against a group of enemies in a Battle to the death for either teams. Want to become the best? Join our servers today and fight for the title!

Groupfighting_Server

The Groupfighting Server boasts an excellent admin team to keep your experience as leisurely as possible. We use a variety of scripts to ensure that rule breaking is kept to a minimum. An active Leaderboard which displays your kills, deaths and their ratio to give the server a slight competitive feel. All of our maps are community made both new and old with new maps being added each month. This is what makes our server so unique to others alongside a fun and friendly player base. So why not come and join in? The rules for this server are specifically set up to prevent people from trolling and ruining other people's experiences, even though the coding is already capable of cancelling out much of the trolling, our administrators, of which there are many, are always at hand to enforce any overseen rules and to prevent any discomfort. Cavalry_Groupfighting

The Cavalry Groupfighting Server is a cavalry melee only server created by the K-KA in November, 2012. The aim of the server is to offer a competitive/cooperative cavalry combat experience. The server has a large rotation of maps with moderately flat terrain to administer an equal environment for everyone. The server was originally inspired by the Groupfighting Server, a bayonet only melee fighting arena. So we created the original Cavalry version for everyone's enjoyment and it has been running non-stop since then. On this server you can find all the major players of the Horsemen in the Napoleonic Wars Community and thus you will find many opportunities to hone your skills and manoeuvres. Just like on the Groupfighting Server, the administrators work hard to make a friendly environment for each and every cavalry player, and seek to penalize any rule-breakers or disturbers of the peace. All Cavalry types are allowed on the server; from Lancers to Carabiniers. Become the best Cavalry player today: Choose your favourite unit and join the fight! For more information, click here.

Our Forum

The K-KA also hosts an individual forum. This is not just for the organization and administration of the Kaiserlich-Königliche Armee itself, but also to enable players to reach the administrators and hosts of the K-KA hosted servers, so that any complaint, issue or difficulty that might arise, can be dealt with swiftly. It is also a place to hang out and to communicate about several different topics regarding the community and more. To apply to this forum click here.
Our Tuesday Event

As of the 13th of January onward, the Kaiserlich-Königliche Armee will be hosting a regular tuesday event. In this event we strive to create an exciting battle between strong regiments and encourage teamwork and teamplay amongst the regiments on our team and the ones we face. It will be hosted by different administrators each week, to ensure that the task is not burdened onto one person only. Any regiments are welcome, despite any history the K-KA might share with them, but regretfully for some, we have decided not to allow any light-Infantry or skirmishers to our events. Nonetheless, don't be afraid to sign up, there is space enough for everyone! For more information, click here.

Our Victories

The K-KA takes part in several competitions and tournaments to constantly achieve the greatest and to improve. As the K-KA should be regarded as a community in a whole and not a batch of different regiments, we sign up for any tournament under the K-KA name and allow anyone who is a member of any regiment within the K-KA to take part in these tournaments. This method has achieved us great victories and we are proud to announce that the K-KA has performed excellently in the following tournaments and leagues (more to come):

Listen to me big fat red haired spastic, you don't have half of my intelectual capacity, you are a fucking brain less animal, i think your mother throwed you on a wall when you were a baby and this is why you have the same brain as a monkey,
You understand nothing, this is why you are working at 20, because your brain did not allowed you to go to school to grab a decent degree, being toxic on a video game is not the same as being retarded, you should try to do some maths exercices because remember you can't even count to 10 if you remember one of the recent tournament, so now go threat your gambling addiction before your mom kick you out of her house.
And you should also go in an asylum, you get triggered by a fucking game and go in depression, deleting everyone on Steam and setting your profile as private, you cunt.
