Luckily he talked to me but only to say that he would not contact us anymore. I was very saddened but I understood. Very much saddenend. Everyone deserves to live a good life with or without what ever they want or need. So we parted ways.

I think a conflict is unavoidable. Now, does the U.S want to help Al-Qaeda by siding with the rebels? Prob. not a good idea.

I don't think the US will "officially" provide any support to the rebels, even though we have in the past. If something goes down, it will be aimed at strategic points all over Syria, and the rebels will take the opportunity to try to finally topple Assad, whether we officialy give them any aid or not.

Indeed, however the real threat is what comes after Assad. Who's next? If the rebels do topple Assad then Al Qaeda will most likely get involved. That means they could potentially have access to Syrian weaponry and technology. That's definitely not something the U.S wants to have against them.

True, but again, you guys and the soviets have always been at each others throats.
 Anyways, I  don't see a positive outcome for the U.S. whatever happens.

The best outcome would be for us to back down and stop putting our nose in other people's business. Let someone else punish Syria, the UK ain't gonna do it, so let France or someone have at them. When did it become our job to police the world?
