A Question for the Community
« on: April 19, 2014, 06:12:12 am »
This may just be me:

But do you find it annoying to see new versions of regiments that left behind certain legacies? Such as if the 92nd were to disband and another rose in it's place?

Or on the NA side the 3evolt disband, and a new one rises? 63e? 60th?

I created the 9y with a few others and I see the new version on NA1 all the time now. Quite frequently playing lancer, running into rocks, screaming in all chat about how pro they are as they hang a 1-4 on the leaderboards etc. And it's basically some kids using the tags to troll the server.

While some will call the original 9y trolls, we had a certain level of skill and it just makes me sad to see how the name has been dragged through the mud by these guys.

Before you post I know there is nothing I can do to stop it. I gave up the name, thus I gave up the rights. But it is slightly annoying. Call it a pet peeve more than anything.

Yea, it does suck, but at least you can be proud that people are trying to recreate what you did!  :)

Do what the 89thRG did. Go on an indefinite hiatus never officially disbanding.

I can see it being annoying when people don't live up to their namesake, but you know what they say, "imitation is the finest form of flattery".
In theory we could do huge player numbers far over 500 players per server...  As such we will surely keep our promise to deliver you the 500 players per server.

We will probably go (far) over it, but that's for later.

We talk about this in the 3e pretty often actually.. people should definitely stay away from the large names. It can be hard to live up to, and sometimes the old regiment will end up overshadowing the new.

Well why would someone want our name anyway, the regiment never existed in real life. Plus we werent even that good :P
Anyone really, seems to be our speciality. The 89thRG: we show you how to die right.

Problem is they have no clue who the original 9y were. Or who I am. "Supposedly". Yet their tags are the exact same ones I came up with exactly a year ago.

It's w/e, I don't get annoyed over aspects of a video game. But this one has got my goat apparently.

You don't do yourself justice. You could at the very least hold your own.

With regard to the matter at hand; I would agree with you Mack, but only on the basis that said people who took the name were dragging it through the mud as you mentioned. I would say that it isn't too upsetting if the leaders can do the name justice.

I did just start a new North American 21e, which Millander had before I, so I'm not sure if there is real value to my opinion on this subject.

Hmm... In that case, only option is an honourable duel for the name to prove their worth :P

I'm just saying it keeps people from taking the name.

I was lucky after I closed down my 3rdFG that it was well maintained by Primus for several months, a little too much so perhaps ;)

I would come back but only for 9y, no one else.
