Russian Revolution And Civil War Discussion Thread
« on: February 03, 2014, 08:54:18 am »
Hey, Im wondering if any of you can tell me a slogan/sentence that was used during the russian revolution, something similar to "The Rising Sun" (Japan). Something communist-ish please! :D It is supposed to sound really Pro-Commie-propaganda

'Bread, Peace and power to the Soviets!' was a common Bolshevik slogan throughout 1917.

I believe that "Workers of the world, unite!" (literally "Proletarians of all countries, unite!") was quite popular.
There is a story that scientists built an inteligent computer.
The first question they asked it was "Is there a God?"
The computer replied "There is now."
And the bolt of lightning struck the plug,
So it couldn't be turned off.

Those were pretty much the main slogans yeah.

I've always found this era incredibly fascinating for some reason. The Civil War was pretty horrible and bloody with all sides committing acts of horror and tactical brilliance.

Plus armoured trains. Who doesn't love them?

Dammit inteventions. War was bloody as hell, on some fronts Red army soldiers fought with only one bullet and went in bayonet charges without bayonets. In other words White army was well supplied by foreign powers, Red army had only bits, but they shared even that with workers and hungry people in besieged cities.

Please don't start the 'red=good white=evil' discussion.

I didnt state that, Reds performed a lot of crimes during the revolution, and i'm only giving the fact, that red army didnt really had so much supplies and nothing more, dont try to find something in my words, Duuring.

Please don't start the 'red=good white=evil' discussion.

This is the one rule for this one, use the good old 'they were all kind of cocks really' clause and talk about the interesting stuff.

Like armoured trains!

I miss the Mount And Blade mod from this era :(

It actually was a pretty decent base mod, complete with several non Russian Factions a custom map and some really good weapons. It really just needed some good scenes and removing the grenade spam from the White Russian grunts.

Oh god the grenade spam!

I'd encourage giving it a couple of hours really. It apparently is being slowly ported over to Warband. Also, anyone object to adding Warlord era 20th century China to this thread topic?

Both eras get weirdly skipped over in general.

SeanBeanShako, the best armoured car in history was at the siege of mafeking when Baden-Powell filled it with sharpshooters and sent it straight into the Boer camp.

Just sayin  :)

But could they watch hilarious propaganda and really nice cartoons in that one? huh? could they?

Plus, the Elite soldiers staffed on those things had a really nice looking uniform!
