Sadly, that's not practical.

In most clubs you at least have to be 14 to fire however in my company we allow people younger kids to go out on the field as medics and suff. Although not accurate and it does a little away when you have a bunch of little kid swarm you when you go down but it helps with recruiting tremendously because many of the current regular members started of as medical kids (cadets).

I have a mental image of a swarm of children carrying wounded soldiers off the field now.

Like worker ants.
Crawling back to you,
Ever thought of calling when you've had a few? 'cause I always do.

I rather to have some rule that are flexible, rather to be up to company commanders to decide. Thats how it works, generally Battalion staff would have general rule about 16 and above being able to fire. But anything Battalion does not say, Companies are welcome to change. 10th Illinois do allow 16 years old and older to fire but do not allow under 18 to camp without consent or alone.

However, battalion was able to change the rules for one event when the Boys Scouts (American Hitlerjugend) (mostly 12-16) to join 31st Wisconsin to fall in for the weekend, march, drills, in uniform, even fight in battle with their own rifle, no medic stuff. There was 20 of them in fact. Was very interesting but knowing Boys Scout, they have capablity of  discpline and the organizgation itself is well repuated, i would bend the rules for them. Which my battalion did and it was a success, all the boys had a great weekend of their life.

I typically like tacticals much more because the rules are typically more lax, you don't have to deal with the public, there's more action + tactics (no stage show!), and typically you're on good terms with whoever is setting the whole thing up so things are a bit easier.

I'd probably smudge the rules with Boy Scouts if I had that much loaner gear! After all, my dad was a Boy Scout when he got started into reenacting... needless to say he dropped the Boy Scouts pretty quick when he could march in the field dressed as a Confederate instead. :P

However, I've also been to very strict tacticals where the event organizers actually check through your ammunition at formation and whatever else you're carrying amongst other things like visually making sure of authenticity regulations. ( not to say my typical southern boy reenactments are too bad in the authenticity department - I've seen horror shows from Florida and Texas in pictures D: )

P.S. Also have seen great reenacting groups in TX as well. It seems hit and miss over yonder - which is totally the perspective of someone on the outside looking in.

So it's no problem that you can't buy a beer untill you're 21 but the world will end if you can't have guns when you're 12.....

hey.....  i cant assure you that,  the 21 law is not much of a roadblock

Its kinda funny the topic were on. I bought my musket no licence from a guy in the back of a McDonalds parking lot. Not thats American!

very nice Im  surprised you were able to do that under senator Feinstein fascist rule. GG dude!

And I drink it legally. It's incredibly amusing for me that all you adult Americans who can shoot and fight at re-enactments can't drink a beer.  :P

I think it would look much better if there wasn't a flag on the flagpole of the villa. Can someone photoshop that?  :P

Edit: It would also be great if they hadn't taken this pictures with a God-damn potatoe.
