In about a month I'll have pictures of my in full mounted drill-kit of the hussars.

Not quite campaign dress, I know. That's for next year  :P

Got any ideas on getting a horse, and where to keep it?

Were all going to look fly as shit at Spotsylvania! #33rdVA (hopefully by that point) meetup
Of course, I also think lines should be able to move in double rank without having emotional breakdowns.

So, joined an ACW unit in my area and was wondering, how many people show up the the Gettysburg re-enactment each year? excluding this year.

Im looking to go but dont want to waste all that money if its not worth it.

In America? My guess is a few 1000. Buuutttt if there is an Aussie Gettysburg re-enactment, id say at the most a few 100.

Going to be at my second training session in a few hours. Looking forward to not being able to move my arm for the next few days.

We rent a group of horses from a pension (Horse farm if you will), where we also train them. Two of our members have their own horses, though. The great advantage of this is that they know each other and will always remain together.

Going to be at my second training session in a few hours. Looking forward to not being able to move my arm for the next few days.

That's the spirit.

I dont recommend the event though, its all bunch of farbs having tits n' giggles. GAC does it every year and the recent year was 150, so it was special event, numbers do not look like that for annually event. Id say less than thousand.  I recommend you look into what event is going to be 150 around the time.  Like let say, we have 150th Red River coming in April, it is one week long event where you march and battle for 23 miles on part of original grounds. Then in May, we have 150th Wilderness andd Spotsylvania, where we will have trenches, and in June, I believe 150th Petersburg related event should happen (that siege took a month).

Do you guys expect an exodus of people after all the 150th-events are over?

No just back to their local events. Just because 150th anniversary is in virginia mean the entire state of Virginia shows up and start waving their flags. No, not really, nope.

People like Millanders from california flew all the way to Pennsylvania for a event. There are many people like him doing that even europeans too. Those non 150th event probably would get a thousands to 100.

no not really there have been some "Brass" who formally retired after Gettysburg because of health issues and to make room for new people. But the 150th are still going, but after that i do suspect that there will be a slight drop in numbers.

Maybe slightly but unnoticeable. I think the 150's have attracted allot of people to the hobby and the period in general. So yeah there might be slightly less reenacters however there is still more than before.
