Of course, I also think lines should be able to move in double rank without having emotional breakdowns.

At least it looks like he's actually aiming, unlike most reenactors who seem to (understandably) hold their muskets far from their face.

Is nobody worried about the fact there's a flash going off in his face?

Well, uhm, okay.

It happens. Just get on with it. If people were worried about it then everyone would have those shit pan covers on their muskets.

First of all, people DO have flashguards on their muskets and for good reason, second, as a musket-shooting re-enactor you should know you are not supposed to fire a musket like that!

Its the person firing's fault if he gets powder flash like that. They need to learn how to load properly if its doing that so using a flashguard is just a lazy way of doing it.  If they are worried about flash then maybe they shouldnt fire a gun.

It's usually the person standing next to you who gets the flash in his face. And tell me, what's the proper way?

Not to much powder and closer to the touch hole. You are rushing your reload if you put to much in.

And still you think flashguards are a bad idea? I feel a lot more comfortable when everybody has a flashguard. I mean, sure, people can promise to not put too much powder in, but these are re-enactors. They like big bangs.
