Lt Colonel* and most rebs officers arent mounted. The horses, despite the Federals officers to be mounted, is sacred for the south. They were pretty sacred. In fact upon the surrender at Appomattox. All war machine must be turned over to Grant. Lee objected that all horses must return to men because not just they were a war machine. They were the machine that kept them alive at home. So Grant pardoned all the remaining horses and they returned to owners, not Generals. Yes When the war came up, they called all farmers to donate horses for generals and cavalry force. In the end, if the horse is alive, he is to be returned, if dead, he is to be paid by money.  The whole point is, not much of a horse is to be spared in the south whilst the North can get many horses from Europe. (Thanks to Anacoda plan, ze Sawth cant get much of supplies through the blockade.)

Fun-fact; a relative of mine (in a Confederate cavalry unit) received extra pay during the war because he used his own horse.

Hence, the horse.

Anyway, talking 'bout horses, I'm off to Waterloo in an hour! It just stopped raining here, I hope shizzle better down the Southern Netherlands!
