Well...I need something to kill the enemy with, don't I?

The 6th also had carbines, but they aren't a mandatory addition to your kit. As of yet.

He's a cavalryman. Not an infantryman.

If you are planning to, promise me this; Start taking horse riding lessons for 3 to six months AT LEAST, and then make that decision.

This will A. Learn you if you are a horse-person and more importantly B. Set you apart from all the other guys who keep shouting AW GEWD I WANNA DO CAV. Cavalry regiments will appreciate that.
And C. of course it's handy to be able to ride.

Indeed. It turns-out I know some people who have a horse at the local stable. They said they'd help me try riding it. So if I don't end-up getting sea(horse?)-sick, then who knows, maybe I'll try taking lessons there.

It's the same in the Civil War...

Sounds good. So, you are thinking about doing ACW or Napoleonics?

Or both?  ;D

Great, Great.

back to my sabre, God, I love it so much. I need to get a pair of gloves though. It's ill-balance is starting to peel my skin off  :P
The curved blade is especially very sexy.

Munk, I think he meant the fact that the term 'trooper' was used in basicly every period of war. Including ACW and Napoleonics.
Now, I've been wondering for a long time...Are you a re-enactor? xD

there is A. Cavalry
            B. Mountetd Infantry
and thats it NO TROOPER!.

Yeah, I guessed as much... Just wanted to know for sure. Please don't take offense! What unit do you re-enact?

A trooper is the cavalry equivalent of a private.
