Napoleonic Wars World Cup / Re: NWWC 2016

Why USSR is a stupid idea?? Its just a name of Russian-speaking coalition.

Well I don't agree with coalitions at all. Hekko and I had a system that was less complicated/controversial to achieve what you probably want to achieve. Instead of national coalitions, there can only be single nations, e.g. Russia, but ethnic Russians in Ukraine or elsewhere can play for Russia. The only time 'coalitions' were allowed as a separate team was for very recently former nations such as ex-Yugo or ex-Czechoslovakia but if even one nation like Serbia could make its own team then Yugo would not be allowed for example. I think this kind of rule would achieve what you wanted without actually preventing other ex-USSR states, who don't identify as ethnic Russians, from making teams.

USSR is a stupid idea in my opinion, but I don't think anyone should have to commit to a nation before the team deadline, which Rommel told GB was extended to next Sunday.

Mandar told me that he was going to play for RUS. Why would you force a player to choose before the team deadlines?

Did I miss something, organisers choose the team captains?

Meanwhile on Native :

Great trailer but the gameplay in native battles is so boring it sends me to sleep. We do our tournaments in true Napoleonic style, fast and furious.

After consulting with Rommel we came to the conclusion that Harriers idea is really the best way to solve this. The prior Organizers didnt take nationality too serious so we dont have anything to really work with. Since we will change that in this and the upcoming cups its probably the best if we make a cut and let the players in question choose ONCE between their Nations. Again: You cant switch your nation after this cup, so it will stay for the upcoming NWWC tourneys.

I don't really see the point in legislating for future tournaments since international events have changed hosts many times in NW throughout the years. Hekko and I have hosted NWECs in the past and we did take nationality seriously, serious enough to recognise that some people have multiple nationalities and that it's completely arbitrary in an open-circuit, online-based competitive game to limit someone to a single nation for their entire playing career. It makes a tad more sense in the real world where logistics are very important and costly, where big contracts are being signed, and where single-body organisations control the entire competitive scene (e.g. FIFA) and can actually feasibly enforce such a thing. We have the luxury of the internet in our case and none of those burdens, I don't see why we should conform to their model. Since this doesn't exactly impact this particular event much I'm not going to press the point much more, but I think you should reconsider the principles of your statement here. If I for example wanted to play for the ex-Yugo states one time, maybe even in a minor tournament like a 5vs5, since I am part-Balkan and understand the Serbo-Croat language to a day-to-day conversational degree, I don't really see how that should problematic since it doesn't compromise the competitive integrity of the event and I qualify for it as much as I do the GB team.

If you judge a sovereign country as able to control their own borders and make their own rules then we should get rid of team GB, France, Germany, Poland, Spain, Netherlands and have team European Union, then all the other countries.

Why I'm voting OUT in June.  ;)

You can change nation in Football, you just can't change nation within FIFA. NW is an open-circuit competitive scene, it's not controlled by a single body. It's not like FIFA. If someone is eligible to play for a nation under the given criteria then they should be able to choose the one to represent at that point in time, not for eternity. It's as unenforceable as it is impractical to try limit someone to 1 nation for all competitions if they can clearly qualify for others.

Why you should be a Co-Captain: Herishey needs a backup if he isn't there. I captained the original UK team back in NWEC 2012, held together 3 different factions in the team to bring it all the way to the final. I've been a vice-capt on other occasions later on in UK's NW history.

Community / Re: Napoleonic Wars European Ranking
« on: January 19, 2016, 09:34:24 pm »
It's up to you since it's your ranking, but really if you include the Mini-NWWC in this ranking then you should have the NWEC "Pilot". It's described as a "Pilot" but it had plenty of teams in it and a really high level of competition, more so in my opinion than the Mini-NWWC. The real 'tester' happened before it in 2011, during Mount & Musket, the only reason it was called a "Pilot" was because Napoleonic Wars was a new game and it was the first time larger squads were being used. The tournament actually worked like any other NWEC or NWWC tournament.

Hekko needs to be in the elite tier for leaders. Many people think Nr.24 was so good due to its players, and yes it had an amazing pool of veterans and, at the time, hot new players, but our 50 unbeaten 1vs1 linebattles run and winning the NWL was substantially down to Hekko and his co-pilot Svensson play smart with positioning and movement. I would say Hekko revolutionised the use of reverse-columns and was one of the best leaders at minimising casualties in the shooting phase, prior to getting us into melee. He needs to be there.

Yeah if we didn't casually throw it could have been like 8-2, since they had to clutch 2 rounds on NA servers with like 2-3 guys vs 8 of us.
