Anyone see this trailer? Its not filled with explosion after explosion, but really a truly great trailer as I did read the book by Chris Kyle, and this depicts war in an entirely different way.  If you HAVE already read the book please do NOT spoil what happens, or at least put spoilers with the captain spoiler if you want to talk about the book, but this is more for the movie adaptation upcoming.

I think Bradley Cooper will play this role honestly really well

    Off Topic / Final Four
    « on: March 31, 2014, 09:35:01 pm »
So what are your guys predictions with the NCAA Final Four?  I CORRECTLY predicted that UCONN would beat Michigan State and fight Florida  :D  I actually am in a pool and will win $100 if they beat Florida, then $200 if they win the entire tournament.  My prediction is that Uconn will defeat Florida State, considering they already owned them in December (1 out of 2 teams to beat Florida I believe), and guard to guard the huskies outmatch them, along with free throw percentage.  Not to mention Kevin Ollie has been quite a badass coach thus far.. NBA style tactics seem to have a big effect.  On the other side, ill go with Kentucky beating Wisconsin.. and then guessing Connecticut vs. Kentucky would be quite a tough match, but since Uconn struggles vs tall players like when they had a game vs Louisville, and since Kentucky has a deadly offense, along with taller players, will defeat Connecticut, thus resulting in Kentucky to win the entire tournament.

Again, post your predictions below, why you think who will win it all (including the final four matchups).  Pretty psyched, both final four games are on April 5th.

Enlist Now!

Starting their service record fighting on the western border with Germany, the 63e was one of the main forces to battle the offensive in Belgium, there they covered the retreat of allied forces. They were able to halt the German advance through a series of bayonet charges and quick raids. There next objective was to stop the enemy forces from crossing the River Meuse. Called to strengthen the French line where it buckled most. There they repulsed the Germans again but in the fighting they were nearly surrounded. However, the Germans did not press their advantage and the 63e, along with the rest of their corps (12th Corps) were able to once again hold the enemy back. In the process losing 9 officers and 724 men in the engagements. From there the French army began to withdraw, with the 63e once again taking rear guard duty. Suffering from battle fatigue they were able to once again protect the rear but in the process of this, took 80 more casualties. From there they took part in The First Battle of Reims. Placed at the front of the army, they advanced under heavy artillery and machine gun fire, taking the first German trenches with a loss of 150 men. After this they were shifted to the left flank. The day after their main advance, a thick fog rolled in. The Germans took advantage of this by sending a bayonet charge through a farm. The 63e was able to repulse the charge but took heavy losses of 550 men but inflicting over a 1000 casualties on their German attackers. Losses proving too heavy for the regiment, they were withdrawn from the front and placed in reserve. From there they would remain in a state of inactivity as they tried to regain man power. However, this all changed with Verdun. Called to action, the 63e was sent to Verdun to halt the German advance. Placed in the middle of the assault, they take heavy casualties from artillery and gas attacks. The next day the regiment was caught, "stuck the earth" as an officer noted, from the shock of the German bombardments. Regardless, they rallied and were able to regain 400 meters of ground that had been lost the previous day. However, through out the rest of the battle they remained as a reserve unit, only called in to support when absolutely needed. At one point called in to reinforce a hole in the line, they repulsed a German bayonet charge but at a heavy cost of 271 men and 11 officers. From Verdun, the 63e took part in numerous other small engagements. One of their final battles in the war would come in the Defense of Reims. Resisting multiple incursions by the Germans under heavy artillery fire, they were able to succeed on multiple occasions. With one occasion coming of where the 63e and a fellow regiment dug along a 500 meter line. Together they repulsed a large German force intent on flanking the French Lines. From there they continued to repulse attacks until the Germans fell back. The final actions of the 63e would come as they pursued the Germans. With the help of aerial surveillance, they were sent on a rapid advance in coordination with British and American forces. Taking large swaths of ground and prisoners while taking heavy casualties as the Germans launched gas shells in an attempt to slow down the advancing forces.

    Hey Guys,

I think its time for me to move on from my crap laptop toaster to a better computer, and since I recently hit the jackpot in the stock market, im willing to spend around $1500.

    Some people recommended this setup

        CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4820K Quad-Core 3.70 GHz 10MB Intel Smart Cache LGA2011 (All Venom OC Certified)
        HDD: 2TB (2TBx1) SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 64MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (Single Drive)
        MEMORY: 16GB (4GBx4) DDR3/2133MHz Quad Channel Memory [+64] (Corsair Vengeance [+29])
        MOTHERBOARD: (3-Way SLI/CrossFireX) ASUS P9X79 LE ATX w/ Remote GO!, 3 Gen3 PCIe x16, 2 PCIe x1, 1 PCI

    Hey Guys.

Recently earlier this month my grandfather had a stroke, and he probably will not live for very long, he served in the Pacific during WWII, and honestly I have not really gave much interest into what he did, he lives all the way in Georgia and I never really bonded with him.. He had my father at around age 40. and is pretty damn old lol, Anyways, I am scanning a crap load of photos since now I am literally the only one in my huge ass family that gets some of his old war junk, a lot of pictures/albums, but I wanted to know some more information as im not familiar at all with the sort of gear/weapons they used, he was a rifleman in I believe the 37th infantry, served in solomon islands and peliliu.  Considering a LOAD of you are history buffs/military buffs and stuff, thought I'd share it with you and let you give your opinion.

Anyways ill post the first picture I scanned, obviously I apologize for the quality.. but my grandfather is the one in the middle with that rifle, and the 2 guys he is with I am pretty sure were some of his good friends, pretty sure both died.  My question is if anyone knows the actual model of that rifle he is carrying, and can anyone guess what that structure is behind him? I would ask him myself, but he hardly remembers and found this photo in an old newspaper from the 1950s of him.  Again any info would be useful, I just wanted to document everything I find on him, and share it, because I am the only one who is taking initiative about it.
