Hello and welcome to the official thread of the Cavalry Napoleonic Wars League. The biggest and most important regimental cavalry event returns to the community for a fifth season. This competition is the opportunity for every cavalry regiment to prove its worth, and for the players, from new-comers to veterans of the game, to show their skills and will to win. It had been a pleasure for me to host the fourth season of the competition about a year ago, so I can only hope that this new season will go as smoothly and will be as enjoyable as the previous one.

Just like the previous seasons, the competition will be divided into two leagues in which regiments will be put depending on their level.
Gentlemen, prepare for a thrilling and enjoyable competitive experience, and may the best regiment be crowned champion.

The Cavalry Napoleonic Wars League will begin on Monday 16 April.





1. This is for regiments only.
2. Regiments will have to pick one unit between the following: Hussar, Cuirassier, Dragoon, and will have to stick to it throughout the competition.
3. No invites allowed whatsoever.
4. People who are in several regiments have to choose one regiment to play with and one only.
5. If a player once played for a regiment in the season, he can't play for another regiment, even if he left the first one. This counts for the whole league.
6. No shooting whatsoever.
7. No wallhugging / rockhugging / treehugging.
8. Only one officer and one flag-bearer per regiment are allowed on the field. No musicians.
9. Minimum attendance: 12 men for League 1, 8 men for League 2.
10. Regiments have to spawn all the men they have on the server (as long as the match remains balanced). Putting people to spectator on purpose is forbidden.
11. If a regiment brings less men than the minimum number, his opponent is allowed to have more men on the field.
12. If the minimum limit is reached or passed by both regiments, then the match has to be balanced perfectly.
13. No maximum attendance.
14. Matches will be played on Random Desert maps. Size: medium.
15. Matches will be played in 10 rounds. Not one more.
16. Matches have to be played with a referee. Regiments have to choose a referee when they organize their match.
17. Matches have to be played on the official CNWL servers.
18. Matchweeks last from Monday to the Monday of the week after.
19. Winning a match gets you 3 points. Drawing a match gets both regiments 1 point. Losing a match gets you 0 points.
20. Each regiment has to play one match per week. Extras days might be given, but only a few. Do not abuse it and try to play your match during its matchweek.
21. If a regiment doesn't show up on the announced date of a match, then the other regiment gets a 10-0 win over them.
22. At the end of the League, if a winner-deciding match results in a draw, then a rematch has to be played. If the rematch is a draw, then the team with the best rounds difference wins the League.
23. Picking enemy weapons and horses is allowed.
24. Behave ! Do not tea-bag, and keep the global chat to a minimum.
25. During a match, referees are to be listened to and obeyed. If you have any complaint to make, wait for the match to end and do it on this thread.
26. Both regiments have to stay at spawn at the beginning of a round, and wait for the referee to write "Go" in admin chat before moving out. Referees do not have to ask if ready, however officers might ask for breaks, and they will be granted.

- The NW Cavalry international competition returns for a fourth edition -





Hello to all the Cavalry Community of Napoleonic Wars, and welcome to the thread of the official 2017 edition of the Cavalry Nations Cup.
This is the only international tournament in the Cavalry community. I have hosted 3 previous editions of it in 2014, 2015 and 2016 with the precious help of various co-organizers, all of these editions were successes. I hope I will be able to bring you a quality event as well as fun and epic matches for you to play, no matter which national team you are a part of.

In this tournament, no teams has even been able to retain the champion title they had won the year before. Therefore it is more than fair to expect an extremely close competition, in which every player will need to be at his very best in order to triumph.
Gentlemen draw swords. And may the best team win and lift the Cavalry Napoleonic Wars 2017 Champion Trophy!

The 2017 Cavalry Nations Cup will begin on Monday 13th November.

1. Teams will only be composed of players who have the nationality of their team's country/countries.
2. Teams will be composed of 12 players minimum, 21 players maximum.
3. Teams containing coalitions between countries will only be allowed by the organizers, on the condition that this is the only way
for these countries to play due to low numbers.
4. Matches will be allowed to be played with either 8, 10 or 12 players minimum. Captains will decide it when they set their matches up.
If both Captains can't agree on a maximum number of players, I will be the one who decides. No more than 12 players allowed on the field per team.
5. If a team doesn't bring enough players, they will play with what they have, but the team they face will still be allowed to have the
decided minimum number of men fighting.
6. Teams will have to pick one unit between the following: Hussar, Cuirassier, Dragoon, Lancer, and will have to stick to it throughout the competition.
7. Matches will be 'first to 8'.
8. To win a round, a team has to kill everyone in the enemy team.
9. Picking enemy weapons and horses is allowed, like in a standard 1v1 regimental cavalry fight. Lances however can not be picked up.
10. Behave ! Do not tea-bag, and keep the global chat to a minimum.
11. Listen to the admins and what they say.
12. Matches' organization will be up to the Captains of the teams which have to face each other every week. They have to post a date and hour,
and then I will give a referee and server to this match.
13. One officer (the Team Captain or the Vice Captain if the Captain isn't there) per team may be on the field, to lead his men.
14. Shooting is strictly forbidden. If an officer or a ranker is caught firing his pistol, referees will reset the round, and the team
of the guilty man will loose one point.
15. Team members and captains alike are asked to remain calm at all time if they are unhappy with any decision a referee or I can make. If they wish to express their discontent they must do it on this FSE thread, and write it politely. No insults or in-game complaints will be accepted.
16. Players must wear the tags they were signed-up with in their team's roster. They may change things in it, but must keep the original name visible. For example: a player signed as Potato can join the servers with the tag "DeadlyPotato", but not "DeadlyBottle".
17. Teams playing as lancers are not allowed to use the couched lance ability of the unit. If a player does it, he will be slain. If it continues, points might be taken off the guilty team. This goes for other classes who might pick a lance on the ground.

Team Captains have to call all of the players who are in their nation's list of players looking for a team, and to give them a chance to prove their in-game skills. They are of course free to take them or refuse them in the team, but they have to see them play at least once. Everyone must have his chance to join the national team of his country.

Hello to all the Cavalry Community of Napoleonic Wars, and welcome to the thread of the official fourth season of the Cavalry Napoleonic Wars League.
This event is the most famous regimental cavalry event in this community. It has been hosted for three consecutive seasons by Wüstenkrieger and Dario. I am happy to carry on with this great project, and to present you this new season.
Apart from a few changes in the rules, this event will still be the Cavalry League everyone is used to, and I do hope I'm gonna be able to gather as many regiments as possible, in order to compete in a healthy and interesting tournament.

Hello to all the Cavalry Community of Napoleonic Wars, and welcome to the thread of the official 2016 edition of the Cavalry Nations Cup !
This tournament, aims to regroup all the members of the Cavalry Community, in order to make every nation face each other in epic cavalry battles.
This Tournament will have its specific rules and organization, and I highly hope it will be able to bring as many nations as it can, in order to fight in good conditions, with good sportsmanship, and with the little touch of regional pride that always motivates everyone to give their best !

The competition knew two previous editions. In 2014, Poland's heavy cavalry team was crowned champion of the Cavalry Nations Cup. In 2015, France took the lead by beating the Germanic Countries in the final.
Now is the time for all nations to arm and prepare themselves again, and to show that they are ready to give their very best in order to claim the champion title of international cavalry.

So gentlemen, which nation will bring the best riders ? Who will triumph and who will fall ? Up to you to write the story !

The Napoleonic Wars Cavalry Nations Cup will begin on the 14th of March

The 4e Régiment de Hussards is happy to introduce you to its brand new event. We aim to create a challenging event for every regiment partaking in it, ruled by responsible, understanding and understandable admins, having known the community and its rules for years.

This event will take place every Friday, at 7.30pm GMT.
The event server is: 4e_Hussards_Event.
This event is open to Cavalry and Line Infantry regiments only. Artillery might be accepted if both sides agree to have one or two cannons. Light Infantry and/or Skirmishers units will not be accepted in the event.





Line Infantry / Guard
- 15 men minimum are needed to sign up.
- Firing in charge is forbidden.
- Firing out of formation is forbidden
- A line may only crouch when hidden behind a hill, wall, house etc.
- A line may not crouch when being fired at.
- Gaps must be filled.
- A line may not spread out.
- If you have 3 men or less, join a friendly unit nearby.
- If you have 3 men or less and are attacked by any enemy unit, you must surrender, do not fight back.

Cavalry
- 10 men minimum are needed to sign up.
- 16 men maximum are allowed on the field.
- Cavalry must stay in formation, unless when charging.
- Dragoons may not fire from horseback.
- Dismounted Dragoons are considered as being an infantry line.

- 3 men minimum are needed to sign up.
- 10 men maximum are allowed on the field (guards included).
- You may have one sapper.

Good day, monsieur ! Welcome to the official thread of the 4e Régiment de Hussards.
This regiment is an european cavalry regiment, composed of plenty of veterans of the cavalry community,
willing to show deadly skills in quick and deadly attacks, mainly focused on targets such as skirmishers or artillery. But by no means will we be too scared by the lines, or by the enemy cavalry.
We are a friendly yet professional community, willing to train any new recruit about cavalry and any skills we could teach them.
As any french hussar should be, the men of the 4e Hussards are fearless, proud, bold and reckless.
Being european, the 4e Hussards is an English-speaking regiment. However, due to the high ammount of french people in it,
French is also allowed to be spoken during events. Our recruitment is open to anyone willing to ride, fight and die for the Emperor.

In 1776, the Régiment de Conflans Hussards is created, under the rule of the Kingdom of France. The regiment is mainly composed from horsemen coming from the east of France (Conflans), and Germany, and fighting for the King Louis XVI. The regiment has four squadrons: three of them come from the Légion de Conflans, and the fourth one is from the Régiment Royal-Nassau Hussards, a regiment coming from Nassau, created in 1756. A fifth squadron is added to the regiment in 1788, and one year later, the regiment is renamed to Régiment de Saxe-Hussards. In fact, a lot of the horsemen of the regiment came from Saxony, only a few could speak French.
In the first of January 1791, the Army decided that all the cavalry regiments should be renamed to a number, depending on their seniority in the French army. The regiment then becomes the 4e Régiment de Hussards. However, as France is at war against a lot of Germanic States from the Empire during the War of the First Coalition (1792-1797), a huge part of the regiment betrays France in 1792 and joins the enemy. Only the fourth squadron of the 4e Hussards remained loyal to France.
After this surprising event, the Command Staff has no other choice but to disband the 4e Régiment de Hussards, and to decrease all the regiments of hussars of one number. Therefore, the 5e Régiment becomes the 4e, the 6e becomes the 5e, the 7e becomes the 6e, and so on...
That is the story of this new 4e Régiment de Hussards we are going to tell.




Telling the complete story of a regiment in a time periode such as the Revolution and the First Empire (1789-1815) would be both complicated and uninteresting. That is why we chose to pick a few episodes of the 4e Hussards' History, the ones we find the most worthy to be told.


Pajol, and the creation of a famous motto.

1799, Battle of Winterthur. The French army is fighting a hard battle against the forces of Russia and Austria.
The Chef d'Escadron (Squadron Leader) Claude Pajol, fighting harshly, finds himself surrounded by many enemy hussars. At the sight of his rank, the austro-russians decide to capture the french horseman. But the latter won't let himself get caught so easily, and continues slashing ferociously. As he gets hit and hit again, the French loses his strengh, and a great part of his uniform is torn apart. The enemy captures him, and takes what is left of the uniform, leaving Pajol with nothing but a light shirt covered with blood on him.
Seeing their leader getting captured and brought away from the fight, the hussars of the 4e charge quickly, slash the enemies holding Pajol, and save him from his fate. As soon as the Squadron Leader recovers his mind, he asks for a horse and a saber, and gathers everyone around him. Still wearing nothing but a shirt, Pajol leads a terrible charge on the enemy, to get his uniform back. Leading his men, he shouts "Saxe-Conflans, Bannière au vent !", meaning "Saxe-Conflans, with our Banner in the wind !". The charge is a great success, the austro-russians are destroyed, and a lot of prisonners are caught.
Général Masséna, when he heard about that story, instantly made Pajol a Colonel. The latter ended up as a Général, and is still considered as being one of the most famous cavalryman of that time, alongside Lasalle, Murat, Montbrun and a few others. He was one of the bravest fighters of the Grande Armée, which resulted in him being wounded so many times in so many battles (he received 2 bayonet hits at the battle of Spire, 1792). Claude Pajol died in 1844.

On the 30th of September 1805, the 4e Régiment de Hussards is part of Kellerman's Cavalry Division, in Marshal Bernadotte's Ier Corps d'Armée. It forms the second Brigade of the Divison, alongside the 5e Chasseurs à Cheval. The 4e is then led by Colonel Burthe, and gathers 444 men divided into 3 squadrons.
On the 9th of November 1805, the regiment is part of the second brigade of the vanguard of the Ier Corps d'Armée. That brigade is led by Kellerman himself. The 4e then gathers 501 men divided into 3 squadrons.
On the 2nd of December 1805, one of the most famous days of the Empire, the regiment is on the battlefield of Austerlitz. There, it is part of Kellerman's division in Murat's cavalry reserve. 280 men of the regiment fight that day, divided into 3 squadrons.

As Marshal Soult's IVe Corps attacks the autro-russian divisions on Pratzen Heights, the fight is fully engaged around 12 o'clock. The French have better positions and troops, therefore the allies are beaten rather quickly, and in a couple of hours, the French Army is on the top. But the russian infantry continues the fight, and slows down the advance of the whole army. To secure their defeat, the Emperor launches all his cavalry reserve on the allies. The 4e Hussards takes part in the charge, and harshly attacks the russian infantry. The charge is so powerful that the Russians are pushed back, until the french hussars can reach the artillery positions. In this glorious attack, the 4e Hussards captured a lot of prisonners, as well as some cannons, and 2 enemy flags. At the end of the day, 63 men of the 4e, including 6 officers, are dead or badly wounded.

Austerlitz has been a day to remember for the 4e Hussards. The name of the battle, as well as a few others, is written on the regimental flag.

Yo guys. I'm opening this thread for all the Rugby lovers out there. There was already one last year for the 6 Nations Tournament, so let's do the same this year.

Who do you support ? Who do you think will win this year ? Looking forward to the World Cup in a few months ? All Rugby talking is here :D

I personally support France, obviously, but if I had to give a team that I think will win this year I'd go for England or Ireland. Both have had excellent results lately, and with the French team missing some key players due to Top 14, I don't think there will be much teams to stop them. Wales is still sharp and will be a tough adversary for everyone. Italy is a bit lower than the rest but still can surprise everyone (they beat France last year in Roma). And I think Scotland improved a lot, they can do great this year, way better than the previous editions at least.

Tournament starts this weekend, with Wales facing England Friday at 8:05pm GMT, Italy facing Ireland Saturday at 2:30pm GMT, and France facing Scotland Saturday at 5pm GMT.
I personally bet on England, Ireland and France for the winners.

Just my two cents of course. Give your point of view !

Hello to all the Cavalry Community of Napoleonic Wars, and welcome to the thread of the official second edition of the Cavalry Nations Cup !
This tournament, organized by Paulin and I, aims to regroup all the members of the Cavalry Community, in order to make each nation face each other in epic cavalry battles.
This Tournament will have its specific rules and organization, and we highly hope to be able to bring as many nations as we can, in order to fight in good conditions, with good sportsmanship, and with the little touch of regional pride that always motivates everyone to give their best !
At the first edition of this tournament, Poland managed to prove itself the best Cavalry Nation, by defeating France in the final match. France then finished second, while the United Kingdom took the third place.
All nations are willing to show that they can achieve what Poland did, by winning this international cavalry tournament. Now the wait is over.
So gentlemen, which nation will bring the best riders ? Who will triumph and who will fall ? Up to you to write the story !

The Napoleonic Wars Cavalry Nation Cup will begin on January the 26th.

1. Teams will only be composed of players who have the nationality of their team's country/countries.
2. Teams will be composed of 14 players minimum, 21 players maximum.
3. Teams containing coalitions between countries will be only allowed by the organizers, on the condition that this is the only way for these countries to play due to low numbers.
4. On the field, 12 men maximum will be allowed to spawn and fight.
5. If a team doesn't bring enough players, they will play with what they have, but the team they face will still be allowed to have 12 men fighting.
6. Teams will have to pick one unit between the following: Hussar, Cuirassier, Dragoon. The team will have to play with this unit during all its matches.
7. Matches will be 'first to 8'.
8. To win a round, a team has to kill everyone in the enemy team.
9. Picking enemy weapons and horses is allowed, like in a standard 1v1 regimental cavalry fight.
10. Behave ! Do not tea-bag, and keep the global chat to a minimum.
11. Listen to the admins and what they say.
12. Matches' organization will be up to the Captains of the teams which have to face each other every week. They have to post a date and hour, and then the organizers will give a referee to this match.
13. One officer (the Team Captain or the Vice Captain if the Captain isn't there) per team may be on the field, to lead his men.
14. Shooting is strictly forbidden. If an officer or a ranker is caught firing his pistol, referees will reset the round, and the team of the guilty man will loose one point.

Hello and welcome to the official thread of the Franco-Spanish Cavalry 2v2 Tournament.
This tournament is organized by DarkLight and Erik le Rouge, and is open to every spanish-speaking or french-speaking player willing to fight with his teammate.
The main goal of this tournament is to bring both the French and Spanish communities closer, and to let everyone having fun in a well-organized and well-managed tournament.

We hope that we will provide all that is needed to give everyone the fun they want, and of course, we hope to see every concerned players motivated and willing to give their best in a good cavalry fight !

This tournament will take place on Friday the 5th of September, at 20.30pm Franco-Spanish time.





1. Lancers are not allowed in the tournament.
2. Cuirassiers, Hussars and Dragoons are allowed in the tournament.
3. Shooting is forbidden for Dragoons.
4. Wallhugging is forbidden.
5. Only Francophone (French, Belgians, Swiss...) and Spanish-speaking (Latin americans, Spaniards...) are allowed to sign up to this tournament.
6. Mixed teams (i.e. 1 hussar and 1 cuirassier) are allowed.
7. Nationnality couples (i.e. 1 spaniard and 1 french) are allowed.
8. You must fight with what you spawned with only (Hussars can't pick heavy swords, cuirassiers can't mount light horses).
9. Do not delay on purpose.
10. Team wins when both opponents are killed.
11. You are allowed to dismount your horse once you have killed the ennemies' horses.
12. First few rounds are First to 3, Semifinals on-wards First to 5 victories.

A well organized EU based Event, with listening admins, a good server with no lag, and an interesting challenge for your regiment, due to the teamplay between the 5 regiments of the IVe Corps, which you will be most likely to face.
The IVe Corps already hosts a Wednesday LineBattle event, that has been hosted for nearly 2 years now.

Line Infantry / Guard
- 10 men minimum are needed to sign up.
- 30 men maximum are allowed on the field.
- Fire in charge is allowed.
- A line may crouch behind walls, barricades etc.
- Gaps must be filled.
- A line may not spread out.
- No reloading during the charge.
- If you have 3 men or less, join a friendly line.
- You may have sappers.

- 16 men maximum are allowed on the field.
- Fire in charge is allowed.
- Sirmishers may crouch.
- No reloading during the charge.
- Skirmishers may spread out.
- If you have 3 men or less, join a friendly line.
- You may have sappers.

- 3 men minimum are needed to sign up.
- 10 men maximum are allowed on the field (5 guards maximum).
- 3 pieces are given to each team.
- You may have one howitzer.
- You may have sappers.

- Do not spam the global chat.
- Do not team hit intentionally.

- Cavalry must stay in formation, unless in charge.
- Dragoons may not fire from horseback.
- Dismounted Dragoons are considered as being an infantry line.
- Cavalry may not capture the flags.

Artillery
- 3 men minimum are needed to sign up.
- 10 men maximum are allowed on the field (5 guards maximum).
- 2 pieces are given to each team.
- You may have one howitzer.
- You may have sappers.
