In June 1685 the Monmouth Rebellion against the Catholic King James II was still in full swing and the king was in need of troops. One of the noblemen he commissioned to raise a regiment that month was Sir Edward Hales who formed his new unit at Canterbury.
It took part in the defence of Gibraltar in 1727 and remained there until 1742. It fought against the Jacobites again at Falkirk and Culloden (1745), then moved to the West Indies. There it was given the numeral 14 in 1751, and from 1752 to 1759 was back in Gibraltar.

In 1766 it moved to Nova Scotia, then two years later to Boston, where it was involved in the 1770 Boston Massacre. It was briefly in the West Indies, for three years from 1772, but returned to North America in time for the American War of Independence (1775-83). In 1776 so little was left of the regiment that its remaining men had to be posted to reinforce other regiments, while its officers had to be sent back to England to re-recruit.
In 1782 it was given a county association for the first time, with Bedfordshire.

In 1809 the 14th Regiment of Foot and the 16th Regiment of Foot swapped counties, leaving the 14th with Buckinghamshire. The regiment was unusual in raising a 3rd Battalion of regular troops during the Napoleonic Wars. This was formed in 1813 from volunteers from the militia.
3rd Battalion fought at Waterloo (1815), but a year later both it and 2nd Battalion were disbanded. 1st Battalion returned to the West Indies and Canada between 1836 and 1847 and then served in the Crimea in 1855. It then spent the rest of the century in Malta, the Ionian Islands, India, Aden, England and Ireland.

2nd Battalion remained on the Western Front throughout World War One, but 1st Battalion moved from there to Italy in 1917. The regiment also won four Victoria Crosses and raised 35 reserve, territorial and service battalions during the conflict.
They also had very different experiences of World War Two. 1st Battalion was in India in 1939 and fought in Burma from (1942-44) before returning to India. In contrast, 2nd Battalion had been sent to Palestine in 1938 and so had fought in Abyssinia, Egypt, Iraq and Cyprus by 1943, when it was sent to Burma. In 1945 2nd Battalion held Java, before moving to Malaya the following year and amalgamating into 1st Battalion in 1948.
1st Battalion carried out occupation duties in Austria from 1946 to 1952 and garrison duties in Northern Ireland in 1955. It also fought in both the Malayan Emergency and the Suez crisis before merging with The East Yorkshire Regiment in 1958 to form The Prince of Wales’s Own Regiment of Yorkshire.

Colonel (Col)
The leader of the regiment. This man is usually the face of the regiment and is the one who signs the regiment up to events.

Lieutenant Colonel (LtCol)
The Colonel's second in command, this man is usually the man in charge of training events and administration. He is also there in case the colonel is absent.

Major (Maj)
The Major of the regiment is also known as a company commander. If the regiment allows multiple company's then there would be more Majors as company commanders. This man asks the officers under him what is needed done and he takes it to the Lieutenant Colonel or Colonel.

Captain (Cpt)
The Captain is the Company second in command, He like the Lieutenant Colonel have some of the same duties but on a much smaller scale.

Lieutenant (Lt)
Known as a Platoon commander this person leads a company of 8-12 into battle.

Ensign (Ens)
The Ensign is an appointment usually given to the Flag Bearer or men undergoing officer training to become a Second Lieutenant.

Colour Serjeant (CSjt)
The Colour Serjeant is a prestigious appointment as the Colour Serjeant protects the Ensign that is carrying the colours into battle. This is seen as a great honour.

Serjeant (Sjt)
Controls 6 men within a company who help train the new players and ensure everyone else is properly drilled.

Corporal (Cpl)
Corporals act as a second to the Serjeant assisting in the duties given.

Lance Corporal (LCpl)
Senior soldiers who're in training to becoming Corporals.

Grenadier (Gren)
Good at melee, and are pre-lance Corporals.

Regular - (Rgl)
A Regular is above the rank of Private due to their high attendance and overall good behavior

Private (Pte)
Fresh out of training and the backbone of the regiment.

Recruit (Rec)
New members to the regiment.

Mine is the battle of lookout mountain, simply because it is the closest battle to me, and it is cool as fuck how aggressive both sides were during the battle.

Regiments (Game Clans) / Claiming a Regiment Name.

Can we elect a Community Representative for Battle Cry of Freedom and all come together to talk about name claiming? This is getting quite autistic, like I know in the War of Rights community there is no structure, but in literally every other mod for Mount & Blade that FSE runs on their forum page, we have structure and organization. Why not have organization when a new game comes out? One regiment, one name, (Unless 1 is Eu and 1 is NA and they agree since they'll never see eachother on the field)

Introduction

The 1st Foot Guards Regiment of Foot was formed by old and new players of the community, as a small number of members in April 2017. They, being veterans of other Napoleonic War Regiments, we wanted to create an atmosphere of respect, fun, and entertainment while playing NW and PF. We achieve this by focusing on using excessive teamwork and tactics while playing the game. Our prime goals are to provide that same sense of comradery in and out of PF and into our other games we play. Our rank structure promotes a meaningful, but not overdone, organisation and couples with our focus on using historical line tactics and commands in both Napoleonic Wars and Persistent Frontier. We brag over several years of experience, and over this time, the Regiment is anything but average. We are consistently welcoming new players and focus on bringing players in that mesh with our attitudes and ideals. Many of those members have stayed and remain here to this day. Rank advancement is possible, we have no set limit for any ranks, and take those that can showcase their capabilities in and out of game, and have shown dedication to the Regiment over time.

We respect and ask that all new members respect everyone in this community, and we endeavour to achieve this goal daily. In addition to our consistency in Napoleonic Wars, we play a wide variety of games and encourage members to play together. We have members that turn up multiple times zones, so in the event, you’re staying up late, we are certain that you will have someone to play with! Historical Overview

After the Jacobite rising of 1715 the British government did not have the resources or manpower to keep a standing army in the Scottish Highlands. As a result, they were forced to keep order by recruiting men from local Highland clans that had been loyal to the Whigs. This proved to be unsuccessful in deterring crime, especially cattle rustling. Therefore, Independent Highland Companies (of what would be known as the "Black Watch") were raised as a militia in 1725 by General George Wade to keep "watch" for crime. He was commissioned to build a network of roads to help in the task.The six Independent Highland Companies were recruited from local clans, with one company coming from Clan Munro, one from Clan Fraser of Lovat, one from Clan Grant and three from Clan Campbell. These companies were commonly known as Am Freiceadan Dubh, or the Black Watch, this name may well have been due to the way they dressed. Four more companies were added in 1739 to make a total of ten Independent Highland Companies.

The ten Independent Highland Companies of "Black Watch" were officially formed into the "43rd Highland Regiment of Foot", a regiment of the line in 1739. It was first mustered in 1740, at Aberfeldy, Scotland. The Colonel was John Lindsay, 20th Earl of Crawford and the Lieutenant-Colonel was Sir Robert Munro, 6th Baronet. Among the Captains were his next brother, George Munro, 1st of Culcairn (also a Captain of an Independent Company raised in 1745) and their cousin John Munro, 4th of Newmore, who was promoted Lieutenant-Colonel in 1745 (in place of Sir Robert who went on to command the 37th (North Hampshire) Regiment of Foot). The other Captains of the 43rd were George Grant, Colin Campbell of Monzie, James Colquhoun of Luss, John Campbell of Carrick, Collin Campbell of Balliemore and Dougal Campbell of Craignish.

In March 1743, the regiment was assembled at Perth in preparation for moving to London, then Flanders to join British forces fighting in the War of the Austrian Succession. Scottish officials, including the Lord President of the Court of Session, Duncan Forbes warned the government this was contrary to a general understanding their service was restricted to Scotland. Assured the move was only because George II wanted to inspect them, they arrived in London in May and were then ordered to Gravesend for shipment to Flanders. Anger at the deception, allied to rumours they were going to the West Indies, a location notorious for high mortality rates, caused a mutiny; they set out for Scotland, led by Corporals Malcolm and Samuel MacPherson and Private Farquhar Shaw. They reached Ladywood on the outskirts of Oundle, Northamptonshire on 22 May before being intercepted. The mutineers surrendered in hope of a free pardon, but were marched back to London and incarcerated in the Tower of London. The three leaders of the mutiny were subsequently court-martialled and executed by firing squad on 18 July 1743, at Tower Green. Two hundred other members of the regiment were distributed variously to garrisons in Jamaica, Gibraltar and Menorca, with the remainder shipped to Flanders.

The regiment's first full combat was the disastrous Battle of Fontenoy in May 1745, where they surprised the French with their ferocity, and greatly impressed their commander, the Duke of Cumberland. Allowed "their own way of fighting", each time they received the French fire Colonel Sir Robert Munro ordered his men to "clap to the ground" while he himself, because of his corpulence, stood alone with the colours behind him.

When the Jacobite rising of 1745 broke out, another three companies were raised in Scotland, one being present at the Battle of Prestonpans in September 1745 where the entire company was either killed or taken prisoner. Another fought for the government under Dugald Campbell of Auchrossan at the Battle of Culloden in April 1746 where they suffered no casualties. These three companies were disbanded in 1748.

The rest of the regiment landed in England on 4 November and remained there in anticipation of a possible French invasion until after the rebellion ended. From early 1747 to the end of 1748, it was in Flanders but otherwise was stationed in Ireland until 1756. In 1749, after Oglethorpe's Regiment of Foot was disbanded and the Black Watch was re-numbered the 42nd and in 1751 formally titled the 42nd (Highland) Regiment of Foot.On the outbreak of the Seven Years' War in 1756, it was sent to North America.

Organisation of the Regiment

Within the ranks of the 42nd, we will be going Line Infantry(Scottish Highlanders of Course) almost always, unless we decide to go artillery for a fun night. Our main focus will be to expand upon our melee skill to see that we win whichever tournament we enter as a team! We will be using Historical names in game, and using a wide variety of historical military British, American, and Canadian ranks alike! The ranks will be shown in game, and in our teamspeak server as well. In order to proceed in ranking in the 42nd, you must display true loyalty and skillfuness to the rank. Additional ranks and medals, such as Grenadier and our melee 3 medal, will be given to those who show an excellent understanding of the game, and how the melee system works!

Trainings & Promotions

In the 42nd we train daily on NA Groupfighting, and we also do a lot of inter-brigade stuff with the 1KL and 7te. Our training is primarily focused on getting better at melee, as that is the hardest aspect to be better than others at on this game. In events and in 1v1's/gf's, it always comes down to the melee!
Our promotions will be conducted in a ceremonial format following Sunday nights siege!

Introduction

The 8te Linien-Infanterie also known as the 8te in public events is a line infantry regiment based in the NA community. This regiment is based off of Bavarian line infantry from the Napoleonic Wars. This regiment is fairly new being founded in August of 2020. With ~20 members, but makes up for this by bringing 10-15 members per event. This regiment has many veteran players and specializes in line infantry, mostly in the competitive scene. This regiment participates in some competitive events, but tends to focus more on 1v1's than gf's. We are the reincarnation of the 104th under a different name and commander. We all come from various regiments before, but the 104th was most of our homes before this regiment.

We respect and ask that all new members respect everyone in this community, and we endeavour to achieve this goal daily. Historical Overview

The regiment received its eagle on the Field of Mars from Paris. Once again sent to the Hanover Army , the regiment was assigned to the "1er corps d'armée" (1st Army Corps) under the " Maréchal d'Empire " Jean de Bernadotte , and marched with him to Austria. It passed Munich on September 2nd, crossed the Danube on November 15th, and then turned to Bohemia where it reached Iglau on November 25th. On November 29th it received the order to march to Austerlitz where it arrived on the evening of December 1st. During the battle it was part of the reserve, but then took part in the pursuit battles. After the Peace of Pressburgit was placed in garrison at Jihlava . Marshal Bernadotte's "l e corps d'armée" moved to Bavaria and stayed there until September. Then it was marched into the Kingdom of Saxony . It was not involved in the battle of Jena and Auerstedt , but fought in the skirmishes near Halle on October 17th (the regiment was mentioned in the 11th bulletin of the "Grande Armée" for its achievements) and at Kriwitz on November 3rd . Participation in the Battle of Lübeck on November 6th under the command of Géneral Michel-Marie Pacthod . When storming the mill gate, the unit suffered heavy losses. On March 5th, the regiment suffered heavy losses in the Battle of Barrosa . So it lost its commander, its eagle and 726 of 1,468 soldiers. It then took part in the battle of Fuentes-d'Onoro on May 5th and that of Albuere on May 16th. Fighting in the Cadiz area followed in June and July.
The 8te has stuck around this entire time, even existing so long as to world war 2!
The regiment moved on May 10, 1940 from Givet on the Meuse to Godinne in Belgium. Here it repelled a German attack and inflicted heavy losses on the attackers who wanted to conquer the bridge over the Meuse. After two days of fighting, the regiment still consisting of 1,500 men withdrew because the bridge could no longer be held by the heavy artillery bombardment from Annevoie-Rouillon . The attacking Germans recognized the situation, crossed the bridge and then pushed forward several kilometers to the south.

The 8 e RI, commanded only by a lieutenant, initially remained in place, knowing that the route to the south was already cut off. Besides, there was no connection and no care. When a truck convoy of the Belgian armed forces approached on May 14, 1940, it was believed that it was the expected reinforcement. However, these trucks were already being used by the Germans who had recently confiscated them. The 8e RI fell victim to this mistake and was shot down. The rest were taken prisoner.

Organisation of the Regiment

The 8te will only be Line Infantry, but in game we may sometimes choose to go as a specialty. Our main focus will be in our melee though, and we'll try to improve our competitive scene to improve us and our counterparts in the IX Korps! We are lead by myself, Oberst Richard Sharpe, also known as Scottish. I take care of our day to day running, and I am assisted closely by my 2nd in comman, Kapitan Patrick Harper (Kay Neumark). We use the basic Prussian ranking structure, though we are a Bavarian based regiment.

Trainings & Promotions

In the 8te, we do trainings before we do our 1v1's and groupfights, and also after major events on the areas we know we need to improve on. As a regiment, we spend a lot of time on our server melee'ing one another to get better at the game. Our promotions aren't in any particular order or routine, we promote as we see fit at the moment, and promote those who are worthy of it. Eventually we will have a set rotation for our promotions.

The 84e Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne "Un Contre Dix" is both an American and European based Regiment, consisting of exceedingly experienced leadership coming from the game Mount & Blade: Warband - Napoleonic Wars. 84e Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne "Un Contre Dix" is looking for mature and respectful players who are willing to take the Regiment seriously and follow our simple yet semi-strict rules. We are looking to be an extremely active, realistic, and serious Regiment with a historical drill and attending realistic linebattles. We will pride ourselves on being honourable on and off the battlefield and giving off an aura of respect to others as well to the Regimental name. However, within the 84e, we are looking to build gaming based community in which players are can be encouraged to spend time and play games with one another outside of our events and competitive matches. A friendly and mature environment will ensure that discipline and fun is assured on the battlefield. Aside from in-game professionalism, the 84e will have a set historical yet strict ranking system and much more. When joining the 84e, you will receive the rank of Cadet and from there you will be trained and made into a battle worthy veteran.

Our Goals in Napoleonic Wars

The 84e will mainly focus on participating in weekly-based linebattles and 1v1's as well as playing in Groupfights and Leagues. The Regiment will mainly focus on improving their shooting and melee to compete in future 1v1s and 2v2s against other regiments, training will also be set throughout the week to get our members to their peak performance in the game. On the other hand, we will be jumping onto public servers to have a laugh and to enjoy ourselves, other than that we will not only go as line infantry but also role-play as other units such as light infantry or artillery. Ours accomplish in Napoleonic Wars to become a fun and non-serious regiment to keep the entertainment at its highest point.

Cadet Guidebook

The individuals of the regiment are constantly cheerful when a new member joins in. We will willingly welcome all those who show interest by joining the regiment. Once joined the regiment, Cadets are expected to show great dedication and motivation towards the regiment as well as improving their melee and shooting in-game. If you are active and attend 2 events within the week, it will award you a promotion to the rank of Cadet and from there, you will slowly but surely progress through the ranks will melee skills and discipline. If you, however, encounter a problem within the regiment or your not to sure about something, then do please contact one of the Commanding Officers or a Non-Commissioned Officer as they will always be available at your disposal and would really want to help.

Historical Overview - 84e Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne "Un Contre Dix"

The 84th Line, created in 1684 was known by the Battle of Graz .On 25 and 26 June 1809, two battalions of the 84th defended a church cemetery for many hours against thousands of Austrian soldiers. In the end, the regiment broke through and escaped their enemies. In honor of the regiment's outstanding bravery on this occasion, the 84th was allowed to add the words UN CONTRE DIX (One Against Ten) on their colors.

Here are a few details about this combat. Two battalions of the 84th Line with 2 guns entered the town of Graz, seized the stable and cleared the streets, and took 450 prisoners. The Austrians held only the church and cemetery. Fierce musketry halted the 84e, but at midnight the French scaled the cemetery's walls and took the defenders by surprise. Approximately 120 Austrians surrendered. The French realized that there were more Austrians in the neighbourhood, and the 84th considered a withdrawal only to find that the whitecoats had surrounded them. The 84e put all prisoners into the church, and took cover behind cemetery wall. Although most of the Austrian forces were militia, they outnumbered the French by 10 to 1, the only first rate unit was the Simbish Infantry Regiment. In the morning the whitecoats attacked the cemetery several times. In one attack they penetrated the church to liberate their comrades, in another attack they dragged off one cannon before the French counterattacked and retook it. In one of the last attacks the whitecoats scaled the wall and captured one of 84th's eagles, but Sergeant Legouge single-handedly entered the fight to save the eagle. Running out of ammunition the French decided to use bayonets and cut their way to safety, and they escaped and met up with a relieving troops sent by Marshal Marmont.
For the loss of three officers and 31 men killed, 12 officers and 192 men wounded, and 40 captured, they inflicted an estimated 500 casualties on the Austrians.

Organisation of the Regiment

The Regiment will consist of Line Infantry for the time being. In Regimental linebattles, however, we will work with formations and try to re-enact historical line formations. These formations require high discipline and knowledge of the game and the commands. One example of this is a double firing column with line infantry and officers standing behind them. If we come to use various other units we'll be using light infantry as a flanking force with devastating firepower. We will try to bring historical 1800s fighting as realistic as possible to the battlefield in Mount & Blade: Warband - Napoleonic Wars. The Regiment will also use a wide variety of historical British military ranks. These ranks will be shown in-game, but they will be in the Teamspeak as well. Reaching higher ranks in the Enlisted section requires you to be skilful and very loyal. These ranks will be shown in-game, but they will be in the Teamspeak as well. Grenadier Company 74th Campbell's Highlanders

Introduction

The 74th was formed by Scottish early in June, and has stood as the 83rd Regiment of Foot (Royal Glasgow Volunteers) ever since. The regiment was formed after some dispute with the 33y, so Scottish and other various ex-33y members left and formed the 83rd. We formed the 83rd to have fun in our own way, and also serve each other in a very fun way. Our version of gameplay is not that of a skillful regiment, but more of a recruitment, much larger based. Here in the newly 74th(Old 83rd), we are going to strive to grow to our max potential of recruits and skill, and just have fun together.

Anyone and everyone is allowed in the 74th, and we allow anyone to have a word. Though the leaders word is the final word, we still follow a more democratic system than most regiments, that even being to rename to the 74th.

Historical Overview

The 74th was raised in 1787 by Archibald Campbell, their first colonel, and known as Campbell's Highlanders. It first saw action in India during the Mysore campaign of 1789, fighting at Bangalore and Seringapatam. It subsequently saw action under Arthur Wellesley in the Mahratta War of 1802; it also fought at Assaye in 1803. Returning to Europe, it served under Wellington again in the Peninsular campaign, and fought at Busaco, Fuentes d'Onoro, (both sieges of Badajoz), also the siege of Ciudad Rodrigo, Salamanca, Vittoria, Nivelles, Tarbes, Orthe, and Toulouse. It was then sent to garrison Ireland, and so missed the Battle of Waterloo, although it was on its way to embark for Belgium when news of the battle arrived.

It remained in Ireland until 1818, it was then in Canada and New Brunswick until 1828, Bermuda for a year, and in Ireland again from 1830 to 1834. Later in the 1830s and into the 1840s, the 74th was stationed in St. Lucia, Barbados and other islands in the West Indies; its personnel keeping remarkably healthy apart from one outbreak of fever and dysentery.

Without coming home again, it then went to Quebec in Canada. The 74th came back to Britain from Canada in March 1845 with a dreadful disembarkation from the open roadstead at Deal. Later that year it became the 74th (Highland) Regiment. It had served for its first fifteen years in India, where the kilt was considered too heavy, and although the soldiers resumed wearing it on returning to Scotland in 1806, they had lost their Highland dress in 1809, and the name “Highland” in 1816. However the commanding officer, Colonel Eyre J. Crabbe, who was about to retire after 38 years continuous service with the regiment, was able to assure the Commander-in-Chief, the Duke of Wellington, "that throughout the varied services and changes of so many years, a strong national feeling, and a connection with Scotland by recruiting, had been constantly maintained."

Memorial in St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh; The regiment then served in the Kaffir War and in the Sepoy Rebellion. In 1852 the regiment was involved in the HMS Birkenhead disaster; under their commander, Lieutenant Colonel Seaton and with men of the 73rd regiment.

They followed what became known as the "Birkenhead" Drill, enabling women and children on board to be saved. In 1881 as part of the Childers Reforms, the 74th amalgamated with the 71st (Highland) Regiment of Foot to become the 2nd battalion, Highland Light Infantry.

Organisation of the Regiment

The regiment will remain a line only regiment for the time being, but will soon go outward as far as a Skirmisher detachment, then an Artillery Battalion. We want to be able to have at least 15 active in our line before we launch any detachment, as that seems to be around the number you need to be relevant in the NA community nowadays.

As a unit, we will work in melee more than shooting, and strive to better ourselves as a team rather than individual melee. We will rely on the man to our left as much as the man to our right, and use communication to overpower the more experienced and dominate regiments alive.

Trainings & Promotions

In the 74th Regiment of Foot "Campbell's Highlanders", we will do our trainings on Thursdays at 6 PM Est, and this training will cover mostly formations and melee. Our goal is to become the best we can at efficiently following commands, and really learning how to jab someone in their ass with a bayonet.

Our promotions will be on Saturday nights after the saturday night event, and the only way to get promoted is to attend that event. It is our most attended event all week, and we would like to keep it that way. In our promotions, we require that Officers go officer, NCO's go officer, and rankers go ranker.
