Little roster update

Congratulations to Lapache for getting promoted to VGren. He won last Saturday's VGren tournament and thus gets promoted straight from Kgm to VGren. Normally the VGren tournament is reserved for Grenadiers and Veterans, but Lapache was due to be promoted to Gren this weekend anyways so he was allowed to take part on Saturday. He instantly showed that he deserved his long overdue promotion by winning the VGren tournament itself, top-fragging in the GF vs 92nd and winning the 2v2 tournament with Golden. So yet again, congratulations to Lapache on a very successful weekend of NW.

Python didn't show up and thus failed to defend his title. He therefore drops back down to Gren.

Also who needs recruits lmao

You are exhausting rikkert

I think the situation has been successfully defused, you can all go home now and await inauguration day.
grow up
You're the one that won't be growing up if you keep up this ket habit
Check your facts again rikkert. You're in the wrong here. Grow up

After careful analysis and exploring both ideas I have come to the conclusion that rikkert you need to turn off your PC and write that essay. NOW. I will not ask again.

yea i would love to see u doing that out of an abandoned randomized tourny or out of regiment competitions where even my grandma wins a final having python and elsse
Oh should I join stacked teams in an attempt to get carried to finals like you then? I am in asatro, the 2nd highest rated player on my team last sunday was Cody at 67. You're in Lit, with 3 teammates (Ivan Domi Python) in tier 1 and the other (Marquez) in tier 2 and still you couldn't get to the final.

I have weighed up both arguments and I think you are in the wrong rikkert

Spoiler
Thanks to Marxeil for stepping up for bein captain
This! If you don’t have enough captains you can’t just force people like Rikkert to do it. But ofc as the tourney host you are on a different team with no problems. Any fair tourney host would have stepped in as captain. Also the seeding on how you make the teams really should get live-streamed.
the admin horses were fun tho 8)
Well realistically if there aren't enough cpt sign ups someone has to do it so either someone from the team does it or the team simply plays without a cpt in which case someone will most likely act as one anyway.
nah they should have just made the tournament a bigger format so that they required less cpts. A 7v7 with one sub and less teams would've been very possible with the amount of signups he got. Instead he went to a team full of players that quite honestly forgot they signed up for this shit and then tried to guilt trip one of us into captaining and admining.
[close]
I mean you can't really blame MarxeiL for people forgetting they signed up can you, if you sign up for something it's their own responsibility to both show up and stay updated on that. Also I believe the tournament was announced as a 5v5 for some time so again realistically that was what was signed up to so you can expect there would be quite a few teams and that the format wouldn't be 7v7. Just sayin'.  ::)
No it's not about whether we forgot we signed up or not.We all showed up, played all of our matches in time and didn't make a big deal of it on fse. Its just now that you've brought it up that I explain, that in my opinion, marxeil should have done it differently. Also the fact that the tournament is called '5v5' doesn't prevent it from changing formats. Its not uncommon for these tournaments with individual sign-ups to adapt the format to the amount of sign-ups. A bigger format would've solved a lot of problems: Everyone would have a captain, there would be less subs resulting in less people sitting spec. And it could guarantee that every team has at least 2 top players so that the teams are slightly less imbalanced. (Teams not as reliant on one person)

In the end I also partially didn't wanna captain out of sheer principle. Marxeil didn't have his shit together and tried go strong-arm one of us into fixing his mess for him.

Get a job

Well no, it's on a case-by-case basis; it's extremely clear that the round was played in full with the opposing team waiting for 3 minutes, were in the correct positions and were ready to go. Saying 'r' should be a requirement, but in a case where the round was called and 'r' wasn't said on one team, that shouldn't render it void. You absorb the knowledge gained from spectator, see how the round played out and if the round is deemed worthy, then it shouldn't be void.
You don't have to be a referee for numerous years to understand an 'outside the box' approach to a potential rule break - it's all situational, bringing it up over this other malarkey about some sensitive dude leaving over a joke, is well, completely reasonable. The real issue isn't about a guy being sensitive, it's about teams being demoralised after winning a fair round, which ultimately rolled over to the next rounds causing the teams eventual metaphorical demise. If it was all about 'respecting' the referees decisions instead of challenging it, then there would be no point in any discussion.
I meant that in the case that I described it was better to respect the decision, not in general. Of course discussion is relevant, but I feel like in this case you aren't going to be able to find a proper solution to this problem regardless of how much you discuss it. There isn't a rule that accounts for both sides or that will be able to prevent a situation such as this happening in the future. The ref made a mistake and then attempted to fix his mistake by voiding the round. Movement took the most "by the rules" approach that was available to him.

Black-and-white decisions are almost always challenged for the reason of conscious subjectivity. Movement saw the round play out and watched the round to then come up with a black-and-white decision is quite barbaric, especially when even on the video it was only questioned once 'I didn't say 'r' but ok', and then proceeded to play the round as if nothing happened.
The thing is that there are only black and white decisions in this case, there is no in between that will please either side. The ref has the option to void the round or not void the round, there is no in between. As a ref, when you get faced by a predicament such as this, you try to come to a decision that feels just to both sides. Which is why I said "it is difficult for a ref in this case", as the reality is that someone will get pissed off regardless of the decision that you take. Whatever decision he takes, it won't feel like a just decision to one of the teams. In such a case, playing it strictly by the rules is really the best option you have as a ref. Especially since you have to make a split second decision.

Sure, you could completely lie out your teeth and say your brain got overwhelmed by the sheer amount of knowledge of not saying 'r' so you ultimately died because you started licking your shoulder; but the hard truth is, the round was fair. I've been a referee for tournaments numerous times and have never once made a heat of the moment decision quite as ridiculous as this one. I was also watching the round from spectator and was confused by the incompetence.
Yes, Ryan or someone should've said "not R" or "back" immediately. But seeing as they had no official captain present I can understand that there was a moment of confusion in the team, especially as Ryan was typing to movement in internal admin chat when it happened. Certain people will run forward whilst others will stand still for a sec. In that moment they took the decision of quickly joining their team, instead of taking control and typing "not r" or "back". Can they be blamed for not that? Perhaps yes. Does that mean that they no longer have a valid reason to void the round? No it doesn't. Of course the better outcome would've been to type "back" so that the round can be called off before it even starts. But if a team doesn't type in chat in time, that doesn't void their right to void the round. If everyone "playing out the round" was a valid reason for voiding a team's right to void the round, you could break loads of rules as long as the other team just keeps playing. Again, "People playing the round anyways" doesn't mean that rules can be broken without consequence. Even thought it might make it feel slighly unjust.
If there is a rambo in a regimental 1v1, the refs often let the round play out in full and then give the team that got rambo'd the option of voiding the round. The regiment that got rambo'd doesn't suddenly stop fighting. They continue playing the round, and then get offered the option to void the round afterwards.
Movement let the round play out, then noticed his mistake, then offered the team the option to void the round. To me it makes perfect sense that when a ref makes a mistake, the team that got affected by this is offered the option to void the round.

Saying that one side wouldn't have been happy is again, completely situational - after talking to Clicken about this whole sensitive guy discussion, he agreed that the round shouldn't have been voided, the only reason it was called was because one person (Ryan) was upset about it, thus made a mountain out of a molehill and causing movement to void the round.
I'm not saying that a ref is there to please either side. It is important however as a ref to try to come to a decision, based on the rules, that both sides can live with.

Jesus rikkert stop
