You owe it to yourself to be a role model for your teammates, both for your extraordinary melee skills and for your exemplary behaviour. But more importantly, was left to discuss the goals of the 13e as a regiment. As a wise man said, a vision without a strategy remains an illusion and it was really important for our group of players to not replicate the same mistakes we made with former regiments of ours. The beginning of such projects are always powered by a honeymoon period that inevitably stops and when it does, history showed we were never capable to maintain our regiments strong & active. Although the 85e v1 & v2 were formidable experiences that will hardly ever be matched, we failed - as a group - to exist outside of the competition we were signed-up to. The 14e coming back for an RGT, 2v2 & RGL was an enjoyable throwback for the veterans of our scene, French same as Europeans, but it was never meant to be a lasting force that would return for good. These french projects always lacked one thing: constancy. As such, this will be our keyword moving forwards with the 13e. For the durability of the scene same as for our own enjoyment, this regiment cannot apply a similar formula and although we want to always be able to dream big, we have to acknowledge from scratch that it will take time and efforts for a french regiment to establish itself at the top for the foreseeable future. If we are to become the new home for the next generation of french competitive players, we must first show we have grown as individuals and as a group and let time make its work. Because at the end of the day, that's the only factor that will help to judge the 13e's impact. Time, and what we made of it
At the end of the day, actions speak louder than words though so that's up to us to put our money where our mouths are. Nevertheless, excited to begin this new adventure with the boys. Let's see where this takes us!

During the first three weeks of the 13e, we played a total of 8 casual events for only 1 competitive and had an absolute blast doing that. It allowed us to take a chill approach for our first steps as a new regiment, while actively recruiting & promoting the 13e in the meantime. The lack of pressure that often comes with the competitive aspect was extremely beneficial for the 13e while also serving as the perfect team bonding environment. From these four events, we therefore decided to keep three within our regular weekly schedule but insisted on making these events optional for the whole regiment. With a large part of our initial roster more inclined towards regimental 1v1 LBs or group fighting and our recruitment also being orientated to make the 13e a competitive structure from scratch, we wanted these events to be a way for anyone in the regiment to relax and play without caring for results and individual performances. As such, making these events mandatory would have served the exact opposed purpose. In only one month, we already have a lot of wonderful moments to reflect on from these events and would like to take the time to thanks the staff from the AI, 19th, 1Rhein & 31e for taking the time to include us within their event, often at the very last minute and regardless of our numbers. Our recruitment was and will always remain open to everybody but we obviously knew a regiment like ours was bound to attract more NW veterans than completely new-to-the-scene players. Very quickly, we received a large number of applications and decided on recruiting a batch of British players that we knew would allow our roster to tackle with the best regiments of the scene. This was proved very quickly by the results we managed to achieve in our first practice matches, which very encouraging for such a young structure. The interest from the European scene was actually so overwhelming that one week only after we had started competitive events, we already had to refuse European players to keep the 13e's structure predominantly french. Moving forward, this will be one of the most important goals of our staff, keeping the 13e a french regiment and not turning it into a European stack like some will inevitably pretend it already is. Obviously, we can't deny that the afflux from this group of British players is what will allow us to compete with older, more established regiments and for that reason, English communication has already taken a huge role in the regiment, in groupfightings especially. But when looking at the future, we also want the 13e to remain competitive, with or without them. If they are meant to stay with us for as long as the 13e exist, we'll aim at making the regiment feels like home for them but if we are to take different routes, we can't give up on competitive ambitions simply because we no longer hold the same amount of skilled players. As such, developing the competitive french branch of the 13e (which we will start doing through our academy team) is what will make our regiment fully competitively viable on a long-term basis, and avoid repeating the break-downs similar French structures had in the past regarding these issues. |

Although only one month old, the 13e will enter its first competition in early March, the European Infantry Cup Season 4. This will be one of the first real test for the 13e as our group has always been more comfortable with groupfighting than linebattles. We won't be able to rely solely upon our melee skill but combine them with decisive lead, outmanoeuvring, shooting and team play. In our quest to finally achieve to become a complete regiment that can hold its grounds in 1v1 LB same as gfs, we'll be joined by the 31e Régiment d'Infanterie Légère who boast years of active records and will surely be of good advise when approaching a competition but also looking at the long term. Although we know people will expect us to perform from scratch, we'll have to be ready for inevitable downfalls, be it in practice or in officials. Our leadership is still young and we have much to improve in many aspects of our gameplays. Being humble and accepting to lose against regiments that we could potentially beat in gfs will be a good learning process for the regiment as a whole yet at the same time, we intend to give it our all, same as we will do for any competition we enter. Finished another busy week by fighting the 3pp in a friendly 1v1, alongside the 31e. Still a bit clumsy in the way we approach 1v1 LB, hard to find a synergy thus far between the different group of players and its showing but despite a terrible first side, we managed to edge out the victory in the second one, on the back of a massive clutch from Hertz. Lot of work ahead, but a 7-3 victory nonetheless. Props to the 3pp for the good fight nontheless and good luck to them in their first EIC match!Just doing my thing. Wp to all

Before and after the 85e won the RGL Season 4, I was always writing a little something to sum-up what the regiment had done during the week. When I was in the 17e, I also regularly did recaps for the regiment. Official, scrims or regular events, I simply see as a way to promote our activity, good or bad results the same.
Some people like, some don't, most don't give a flying fuck but acting in a cynical manner by calling it an 'ego problem' whereas I simply answered to his question is nothing but yet a sad attempt at stirring the pot. Plenty of other regiments did the same in the past although out of all of those which had an FSE hread, it obviously never was an overwhelming majority. But I think it's the first time someone has an actual problem with it.

And it's not like we don't have a monthly record where all our records for the month are posted, that will include this gf, same as any other practice or official match. Obviously, it was a last minuted planned gf because we both got confused in our messages to each other but we still decided to play it with the people we had on and the outcome resulted in a decisive victory for the 55th, for which there is absolutely zero shame to have considering the 55th line-up is super solid in 10v10/12v12 especially. We kept attending the 19th & AI event we had thoroughly enjoyed for yet another week but quickly realised it did no longer fit a schedule where we had to include our EIC practice and official matches with the 31e. We kept the 31e's Thursday Conquest as lights in our regular schedule because the event was our most favourite moment of the week when it comes purely to relaxation but decided to keep Saturday as a free day and Monday as a day for competitive matches. We want to thank both the AI & the 19th for allowing us to partake in their events which we hope will continue to be ever successful. Until very recently, we didn't have a proper stable casual schedule unless for the 92nd Modded Event that started on March 15th, just after regular NW events time. This rotation event with a different module each week proved a lot of fun and a refreshing sight to avoid being stuck in the boringness of a very repetitive schedule, for which we are grateful to have received an invitation from Pieter & the 92nd. It also acted as another opportunity to increase our cohesion with the 31e members as some of them regularly attended it with us. Unfortunately, the 31e also had to stop hosting their own Thursday event a couple of weeks, to our great disappointment. We were forced to test new events as we did with the Trench Battle Thursday Event, but eventually didn't exactly find what we were looking for. The creation of a new event on Tuesday by Louaran's IVe Corps and the invitation we received for it happened to be at perfect timing and was used a sample by the 13e to see what real force we could muster for a casual event such as this. Indeed, it was a real wish from our commanding staff to increase the regimental's involvement in these sort of events who - although not mandatory - were (and still are) really important for us. Getting such a response from our members - with 17 players attending the event - was obviously a huge milestone for the 13e as a whole and the climax to a casual attendance that had never ceased to improve throughout the month. As we attempt to create a more stable casual schedule for our members, we hope to maintain such high attendance for April and why not even improve it. | Competitive Matches List
Total competitive matches played: 13 | Average attendance: 74% [close] If February was a relatively relaxed month when it came purely to competition, as we used it mostly to set the base of the 13e, March saw our competitive endeavours come to fruition as we played no less than 13 competitive matches, official & practices alike. We managed to keep a relatively decent activity across the board which - although dropped slightly compared to last month - was entirely satisfactory. Result wise, our first training matches for the EIC were difficult, the cohesion between the different groups of the 13e and the one of the 31e was not easy to find but we knew it was a necessary process to improve. Unlike in groupfighting where we knew we were already able to rival the very best regiments of the scene, the 1v1 format was more technical and required our group to work on several different aspects. Our first two EIC matches against the 1y and 5e went swimmingly as we expected it but we eventually knew the real challenge would come in the form of the 71st, the newly assembled german regiment lead by DarkTemplar and Tigere. If we knew we could easily match them in melee, the real issue was not to fall in their traps game-play wise, as their leadership and line-up were much more experienced & synergized teamplay-wise. We put time and effort into preparing this match as best we could and got rewarded for it as the 13e & 31e coalition came as a whole together the night we got to face the 71st, allowing us to take a decisive victory over our opponent, 8-2. With the arguably hardest match of our group out of the way, we acknowledged there was a real possibility to grab the first seed of Group D and therefore qualify for the quarter-finals of the EIC winner bracket. The remainder of the month wasn't necessarily as satisfactory practice-wise but eventually, we did not make a huge deal out of it as the 13e's priority will always be to perform in competitions and practice are inherently here to give room for our players to stay in form without having to constantly play with something at stake. |

Re-thinking our ranking structure While being fully aware that trying to apply the same schemas as regiments did 5-6 years is not going to work, the 13e still intend to give real meaning to its ranking hierarchy. From the get-go, it was important for us to decide how many COs & NCOs ranks we were going to hand out, especially in regards to our full roster size. Even more than that, we wanted the players who join the 13e to have a real feeling of progression that could be seen through their ranks, a progression that's intrinsically connected to their implication within the regiment. We are rather satisfied with what we came up with thus far but were missing one last rank - the equivalent of Grenadier. In our mind, the rank of Grenadier rewards purely high-melee capabilities and is, therefore, to be reserved to an elite, same as the ranks of CplF & CplFoP. We wanted to have a rank that would also reward our most loyal and active SoPs who, although may not be amongst the most skilled players of the regiment, have shown how important they are to the 13e. That's where the rank of Soldat d'Honneur (SoH) comes into place. The SoHs will be, same as the Grenadiers, the very elite core that's essential to the 13e well-functioning and will have to show a certain number of qualities before being seen worthy of such rank. Once they get it, they will be expected to maintain the same amount of activity and involvement as prior to their promotion, in order to show they deserved such promotion. It will still entirely possible for an SoH to become a Grenadier later on. On NW, the rank of SoH wasn't used a lot, mostly because it is not historical but the oldest of you might remember it from Pieter's 17e that used SoH as the rank for the member of the reserve company. We, for a while, considered such a reserve company to be put in place but the majority of the staff doesn't see it fit for the time being so we decided to use the SoH rank for a different purpose. | The 13e Academy The 13e Academy players started playing their first matches last month. It was a project very dear to us as the 13e is not meant to be solely a melee stack regrouping some of the very best players of the NW scene but also a way for new and rusty players alike to either improve themselves to try and match their teammates or find their old selves through practice sessions adapted to their current form. That academy project took a lot of time to go live but once it did, we very quickly saw how important it was to help our players perform in such an environment. As our current line-up allow it, we regularly fight some of the very best regiments/regiments of the scene and it's not easy for a player relatively new to the competitive scene to not feel like a dead-weight / burden when being thrown against melee machines that will easily deal with them. Eventually, however, the 13e Academy will remain under construction for a good while till we find, through collective thinking, a way to render it fully operational with a dedicated member of the staff that can fully guide our new wave of competitive players towards a great future. But we know it's a step in the right direction to make the 13e fully operational for the months to come. |

Last Monday we also attended Mauri & Wolpi's CTF event which proved a lot of fun and our only regret is that it wasn't a weekly feature as we would have loved attending it again this week. We'll have to be content with another week of tryhard gfs, which is not all too bad as we can use all the preparation we can get.

When some members of your centre company are asking to join 13e because they’re in centre company and are only allowed to play 1v1s and barely get any chance to play in gfs, easy or not. Then you lose all credibility as far as I’m concerned.

I will make one exception to my own post above, but you never had more than 18 people, except towards the very end of the match when it was already 10-10ish when you came around and I turned down the fact to play 19v19. Not because I don't want my people to play but because it would've disrupted the general flow of the match and how people where playing together at this point.
So you literally never had anyone benched, cause you didn't have more than 19 (and I believe boboy left the server after being benched for you but I might be mistaken since there were too many specs to properly check it).
Furthermore, don't ever open your mouth on people's ability to play matches in the 13e. I have always put everyone in during praccs matches, including weaker players, including our sole NA member that spikes to 90-100 ping, even when it wasn't for our advantage, even when we were losing. When we created the 13e Academy with Dash, the point was to train and allow less skilled players to play on a regular basis in a competitive environment, on top on the regimental praccs.
So do not ever open your dirty mouth on our regimental thread again if it's to spit out your non-sense, your stupidity, lies and poison.

I would like to thank all the members of the 13e and especially Nock, Kraz, Verox, Vlad, JLB, Kadiozze, Darkk, Levis, Narrow, Herishey, Hertz, BB, Kennedy who allowed the regiment to last almost a year. When I think of the 13e, I think of them first. Without you, the regiment would have died out after barely 3 months.
We didn't manage to achieve our main objective, which was to create a long-term community, but we have achieved great things. I tried somehow to carry the regiment during the first six months, Nock then took over brilliantly.
I wish good luck to the last regiments thanks to which the community, and therefore the game, continue to exist.
It was a great experience for me, I got to know a lot of nice (and weird) people. I wish you all the best in this game and in life.

A lot of people will likely underestimate what you brought to this regiment, very much like during the 85e days. From the get-go, we knew you had important IRL commitments yet you always tried your hardest to be there whenever the regiment needed a 'father' role to hold on to. You treated everyone, legendary competitive players same as casual beginners, the very same, and in that regard, you remained true to yourself.
You never ran away from your responsibilities, especially at the very beginning when we needed someone to lead us in our first competition, being put against more experienced, less rusty top leaders and you were absolutely magnificent in that role.
I wish we could have talked out things more when the regiment faced its first issues and I regret not giving you more space & time to express yourself but while I will praise Nock for keeping this baby alive throughout the year, this was our project at the very beginning and I am beyond honoured to have been given a chance at this last dance with you.
