Title: Blood and Iron - Age of Imperialism [3.1 Patch]

The 1870's was an exciting time period of the world! The French and the Prussians went to war over German unification. The British Empire was in it's prime. The American Civil War (https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/index.php?topic=31121.0) left the US Army in turmoil as regiments were disbanded, and the country pushed West, expanding their boarders and swallowing land. And Japan was struggling with the recent overthrow of the Shogun and the increasing Western influence.

Blood and Iron Age of Imperialism focuses on these five factions and their position during this time period.

The mod developers recommend using Large Address Aware (https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-address-aware.112556/) to improve your Warband experience, and to enjoy this mod at its fullest! Simply download the program, run it on warband.exe and select the check box to allow warband.exe to use more than 2GB of memory.

If you downloaded and played the beta, delete your Blood and Iron Age of Imperialism folder, download this release version, and reinstall the mod. This is required to benefit from the optimisation that was done to the mod post beta testing!

  • increase your graphics settings (HDR to medium and above)
  • run Large Address Aware (https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-address-aware.112556/) on Warband.exe
  • replace "postfx.fx" with "postfx - normal.fx" or with the same file from NW

Runtime errors are mostly caused by shity PCs. The mod requires more then 4GB of RAM for example.

Wonderful Job Lads!

There is just one thing missing... I am sure it was unintentional. You forgot do implement the Austro-Hungarian Faction.. However since this mod has always been one of my favorites I will look over that ^^


Will there still be an official EU-Event like there was one hosted on sundays in 2013/14?

I want to let you know that my regiments are eager to Play this mod in events and that there will be atleast 30 men maybe even more than 40 who want to use some Kruppstahl crushing enemies of the crown. I am really really looking Forward to it.

One more Thing:
I have found an issue when it Comes to character-creation. Some of the new beard elements cannot be saved that´s a shame since some nice victorian beards can be found there.

Also please consider to configure the official Server more properly. I am talking about a proper map Rotation as there are so many beautiful maps and I would also suggest you to turn down time to a Maximum of 11 minutes. We do not appreciate Campers that much do we?

Lovely it is you also put in the Music from the enhancement package, this jazz-tune somehow fits in so well and it makes this game (mixed with all the other bits and Bytes) so great.

I HOPE you will make an Official Event, otherwhise I Need to create my own for you all ^^

Congrats on your successfull release and I can tell you my regiments and our allied regiments from the german community will be rushing your Servers soon (:

MB.warband.exe crashes, really long loading times, less performance. These has been implanted in the new version, from beta. I don't know how though. Beta was fine in those. I did that program you asked Parrot, still. I can run NaS fine, beta was running well too.

navy had discovered a fix for it, he's going to post it soon if he hasn't already. i'm going to check out his hard work as well and add it to the next patch

Unfortunately none of those are working either, still getting stuck on "Loading Textures".  :-\
Two of my friends have the same problem
Same problem for me I also have all those things enabled and large address aware but it still, get's stuck on loading textures. The beta worked fine though.
I have a hotfix with Parrot's permission to remedy this issue. Please let me know if it works. It did for me as stated in this post (https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/index.php?topic=32613.msg1407566#msg1407566).

Just need the Textures replaced/overwritten. 793 MB. Here's a hotfix for now, in the meantime to combat this issue.

As am I! I'm simply suggesting that if, and I don't think it's necessary, a new faction is considered to be added the time period would be perfect for Italy to be thought over.

Since the OP got updated i will post same thing again.

I think the bow units should be buffed, the accuracy is to low. No real trained (for war) archer will be so poor at using a bow.

A quick and simple patch that reduces the accuracy of bayoneted and non-bayoneted rifles (now rifles are slightly more accurate than Carbines), integrated ten fantastic maps made by FSE forum member wiener_snitzel; European Farmland, Traditional Town, Trading Port, Town Assault, American Steel, and their time/weather counterparts. To install, simply go to \...\MountBlade Warband\Modules\Blood and Iron Age of Imperialism and unpack, when prompted replace all files.

this was actually considered at one point, but the effort vs reward factor dictated otherwise. there's a dedicated hardcore group that still plays these mods, but not enough to justify investing hundreds of hours of work in our own time into something like this

Like Parrot said, it would cost hundreds of hours, even if the dedicated hardcore fans would be pleased.
Even if parts of a new patch would be ready, it would take still hundreds of hours to get it ready for the current patch and such.

This means, using the B&I code, with all the features and such, reworking it into the civil war with all maps, models, sounds from NaS.
Would cost hundreds of working hours, which might be worth for the community, but not worth the effort for such low player numbers.

because i tidied up the source code for b&i before i started working on it, it would mean a new and more stable base for NaS. you'd get the B&I medics which restore health and stop bleeding, the dynamic salute/call-for-medics animations, all the new animations i made, gatling guns, the reworked artillery meaning more options for field artillery pieces, the ammunition crates, the ammunition cart which wasn't used in B&I, the winter uniforms for snowy/rainy maps, the new post-processing effects, the lighter terrain textures, a whole host of new sound opportunities because of B&I's overhauled sound effects (i overhauled 90% of them, including the code - think the musicians and the rifle specific sound effects), the new UI and moving menus, and the restructured .brf files.

B&I is only unstable because i tried to shoehorn too many scene props into it that used some inefficient textures and poorly designed collision meshes. that would all have to be overhauled for a B&I based NaS to stabilise it. but that's not the only thing, the items list would have to be completely rewritten along with sections of the code that organises the sections in this list, the troops list would be overhauled, the scripts that handle the winter clothing and specific class clothing sets (like the french partisans) will need to be reworked, the .brfs reorganised, the meshes all renamed along with their materials and textures for a more comprehensible structure (this is what makes b&i so submod friendly - no more union cavalry named after the NW british green jackets), the textures and materials optimised and correct shaders applied, the weapons rebalanced, and this doesn't include any new things that might be created and added. the list goes on...

Two years necro bump but it is. Worth a try for overhauling your entire default NW experience. Worked really well with commander battles. And I am around if anyone should require troubleshooting for this ol' mod. Nice pfp btw. I'm not sure if Parrot is around but we former modders are still alive haha.

For a second there I thought I was on the enhancement mod thread. Fix'd.

Unfortunately it is quite bad to host events for because it is very unstable, and I mean VERY unstable. Last time we hosted on it for the mod events, people crashed when there were barely 50 people on. Even though I personally love the mod, I must say that I don't call it good whenever it gets chosen on the mod polls. It is unnerving to say the least. Not to mention the amount of people getting the black screen bug and someone having to explain to them how to fix it. Again, I really like the mod but it is really hard to host events on. And it isn't the server either. Crashes are mostly client-side not server-side.
