The main idea behind The groupfighting Ladder is not only to create a permanant ranking system for regiments without relying on looking back at the latest tournament,
but also to give all regiments an easy way to find teams to fight at their skill level. For a long time many regiments have been put off joining NW tournaments as they either require you to play every opponent,
or get knocked out by a top reg early on. TGL will not only give the top reg's a persistant ranking system;
it will also provide aspiring regiments a place to work their way up and improve their teamwork against regiments at the same level as them throughout the leagues that TGL is split into.
Because matches could happen at any time, regiments will get a full 2 weeks to play a match, this enables them to organise around existing commitments.
Because the hope is that this ladder will be a permanant fixture, rules may be altered if multiple participating regiments put forward a good case to make a change which is then widely supported, but for now the rules that TGL will be founded under are listed below!

1.1 A regiment must be have been going for at least 3 months to join TGL. (Exceptions can be made for old regiments reforming but is at the discretion of the organisers.)
1.2 A player may only play for one regiment on the ladder.
1.3 Changing which regiment you play for is allowed during the transfer window, a request being put forward by the gaining regiment.
1.4 Each regiment must supply a list of user ID's for their members if that regiment is in, or moves into the top 5 leagues.
1.5 Each roster submitted must maintain a minimum of 15 players and never exceed 50* players.
1.6 Reigments in the challenger league do not need to submit a roster / keep it updated unless they move up into league 5.

2.1 Each regiment will join the ladder at the bottom of the challenger league in order of when they applied, if the application is accepted.
2.2 The ladder will be split into 5 leagues of 5 with a 6th challenger league.
2.3 A regiment may challenge any regiment above them in the same league providing that regiment is not immune / has not already been challenged.
2.4 In order to move up a league, the top regiment in a league must challenge the bottom regiment in the league above them, should the challengers be successful then the losing regiment will be relegated to the top of the league below.
2.5 The challenger league has no limit, e.g. it could have 3 regiments, it could have 20.
2.6 The regiment at the top of the Challenger league may challenge any regiment outside of the top 10 in an attempt to join the main ladder in that position.

3.1 Each match will be first to 15, but with a lead of 2*. For example, if the score is 15-14, then team one must then reach 16-14 to claim victory.
*This has no limit!
3.2 Each match will be a 10v10 melee / infantry musket only groupfight.
3.3 If one team turns up with less than 10, their opponents may still use 10 players.
3.4 Each team are to stay behind the white line until the round is started.
3.5 Each round will be started by the referee once each team is ready.
3.6 Each player must play as a ranker, normal line infantry class.
3.7 Each regiment may play as their preferred faction, if they both desire the same faction then the defending regiment gets priority.

4.1 Each match MUST be played on an official TGL server.
4.2 Only official TGL maps may be used.
4.3 The map is chosen by the defending regiment, confirmed by the referee when each team joins the server.
4.4 Regiments have 14 days from when the challenge was posted to play their match.
4.5 If both regiment contacts cannot agree on a match time/date, then the next Sunday after the 14 day period is up at 7:00pm UK Time will be set as default.
4.6 If a regiment does not show to their match / are more than 10 minutes late then the regiment that did show up may claim the victory.
4.7 A regiment may forfeit a match, however forfeiting too often* will lead to being removed from the ladder.
*This is decided at the discretion of the organisers, however a warning will be provided first.

5.1 Only one challenge may exist on any regiment, on a first come first served basis.
5.2 Once a match is played the participating regiments must wait until the ladder is updated IF the defending regiment lost, before either may make a new challenge.
5.3 You may challenge a regiment above(reg 1) if they have challenged another themselves or if you have already been challenged by (reg 2) below you , however the 2 weeks to set up a match begins from when (reg 1) completes their match or from after you have fought (reg 2)*.
*This is to prevent a regiment from constantly challenging as soon a match is complete to keep gaining immunity or trying to run away from a challenge rather than forfeit or fight.
5.4 If the above is the case matches MUST be played in order of when challenges were made.
5.5 Based on rules 5.3 and 5.4 - A Challenge becomes void if the regiment you challenged moves up a league before playing your match.
5.6 You MUST post your challenge both on the TGL updates thread (https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/index.php?topic=38068.msg1658649#msg1658649) AND on the defenders offical regiment thread on the same day otherwise the challenge is void.

6.1 As the matches themselves have a very simple format, it is ok for a participating ref to referee the match if a third party referee cannot be found.
6.2 Only the designated referee for a match is permitted to use admin chat.
6.3 No chat spamming, or intentionally offensive language/behavior in chat.
6.4 The referee may use his judgement to prevent delaying, or demand no use of all chat.
6.5 If rules are not respected a regiment may claim victory by posting clear evidence of rule breaks in a post using the complaint template.

Naturally the point of the roster is to make multi-regging harder;
The reason for a limit is actually related to something not in the OP yet which is my bad, but it was more for making my job of keeping the scripts updated easier - as the TGL servers will all be running a simple script that checks a users ID when they join and tells the server which roster they are on.
The limit of 30 per reg was more so to make updating easier / give the script less lines to run through. e.g. if 33rd signed up its 180 roster and so did all other reg's - it would be painful to go through updates everytime someone leaves a reg I'd be basically having to update 20, 30 etc regiments rosters each month. -- that's why I set the limit to make it easier to keep accurate.
Hopefully now it makes more sense ^^

Does city map have good fps?
I can already see players complaining about fps on that map, most of us will be fine but I know quite a few people who struggle on certain maps, some gf maps have been made before which can lower your frame rate, I hope that's not the case.
We've hosted many GF's on the map, never had any complaints, however if it does become an issue it can be replaced. Not a major issue.

Before the ladder begins, your application post can be edited up until initial sign ups close. Then all rosters will be taken as final for the start of the ladder.
Updates after that point will then have to be done through the Roster Update process.
If your application is not up to date when sign ups close, joining the ladder may get delayed! | |

Aye me too, its an idea I've had at the back of my mind since 2k15 - I tried to get MrSt3fan to help set it up but it was at the point he was losing interest in NW (#Smite). Now I feel like I have a bit more time to try it out :)

Very interesting. I hope you guys get enough sign ups to make this work to its full potential. Seeing this 2 or 3 years ago would have been fantastic! Believe it or not this was actually what EIC was originally intended to be, however due to constraints in time etc. we decided to keep it a simple league setup to satisfy everyone who was waiting for NWL to re surface as it now has.
When I clicked the link to your website, I have to admit I didn't read "Example" and thought WAT WHO CHALLENGED 5th
Only criticism I have, is the 2 week time before a match can be played, I would really like that to be just 1 week. I like the idea alot but only playing it once every 3 weeks seems like abit of a waste? Perhaps to combat this have regular season breaks? Also the snow map looks way too big.

Just for the information, when Spoons and I discussed about it and he told he'd like to have me co-host it with him; it was before I take the decision to put myself in a break with all the tournaments and regimental stuff.
I believe the idea is extremly interesting and bring something new within the competitive scene but I didn't back-off from the 7v7 GF Tournament organisation to start involving myself in another one, and also way more consequent in term of time and organisation. Does city map have good fps?
I can already see players complaining about fps on that map, most of us will be fine but I know quite a few people who struggle on certain maps, some gf maps have been made before which can lower your frame rate, I hope that's not the case.

We've hosted many GF's on the map, never had any complaints, however if it does become an issue it can be replaced. Not a major issue.

If you put it in the correct new application format (seen here (https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/index.php?topic=37803.msg1644196#msg1644196)) then ill add it before the ladder starts, also if the order was 100% accurate then no one would have to challenge :) - because of this the win/loss ratio for matches wont be recorded for the first few months.

A new feature has been added for refs - referees can now lock either the right or left team (or both) to a specific roster! For example, If I locked the left team to the 33rd and the right team to the 77y, only those on each roster can join one of those teams.

As its the first roster update and I understand we all need to get used to how TGL works, I have done some late roster updates/changes.
I can't promise I'll do this every month though!
but whyyyyyyyyyyyy not?
Giving time to do these roster changes and keeping a permanent ladder updated is quite a commitment, which is why I want to limit it to once a month, rather than having to edit scripts every few days. (It also prevents players from hopping between reg's for every match)

About the Snow Map:
Idk if it's the map or the server but it was kinda laggy. Also the Map doesnt have any walls which makes it 10x more retarded to play on a flank and you actually get stuck if you get too close to the border. I would suggest to add a frence on the side and actually add invisible walls there since that map made us waste much time since ppl got stuck. Also it's kinda retarded if ppl fall down when the round started since it gives the enemy an advantage which wouldnt exist otherwise

First of all, I would like to apologize to both teams for the delay. There were issues setting up the server, which won't happen again. Big thanks to MightyIrishMan for helping me out with the issue. Both teams played well, the match went relatively smooth, apart from some issues with the map. Just a warning for everyone, there were some issues with the Snow Map. Avoid standing near the edges of the map as some players have managed to get themselves stuck behind an invisible wall. This issue will be dealt with, I assure you.

A new rule has been added to make it so regiments lower down the ladder dont have to keep facing strong regiments joining late.
Rule 2.6, allowing the regiment at the top of the challenger league to challenge any reg up to 11th to try and take that position.
Also the Nr12 (GER) have been added, good luck!

Nr2 & 91st still aren’t on the ladder from what I can see. Also the Nr.55 renamed into the 47e, but I’m pretty sure they’re dead now.

The no.2 and 91st have been added now rather than waiting a week for the next roster update, you are free to challenge in the normal way - anywhere above you in your league (as long as the reg isn't immune) and then the bottom of the next league if you are 1st place in your league!

It seems that something has occurred that has never been a problem before, a loophole/lack of clarity in the rules which was not intended. All matches should be played in the order of challenges - this has always been the main intent to keep things fair, before the rules only specified challenging a regiment that had already challenged above, however didn't specify what happens if you challenge a regiment, who then challenge above afterwards.
The rule before:
5.3 You may challenge a regiment (reg 1) if they have challenged another themselves, however the 2 weeks to set up a match begins from when reg 1 completes their match*.
The rule has been adjusted:
5.3 You may challenge a regiment above(reg 1) if they have challenged another themselves or if you have already been challenged by (reg 2) below you , however the 2 weeks to set up a match begins from when (reg 1) completes their match or from after you have fought (reg 2)*.
*This is to prevent a regiment from constantly challenging as soon a match is complete to keep gaining immunity or trying to run away from a challenge rather than forfeit or fight.

============= TGL ON HOLD =============
After running for 9 months straight, TGL is being put on hold due to a lack of interest. I'm not ruling out bringing it back in the future but due to one tournament straight after another this year, there is lower demand for such a ladder currently.
Thanks to all participating regiments, and especially those that kept their rosters updated, supporting TGL throughout :)

I think its just that people lost interest after a couple of months, which is to be expected.

Nah its more like those netflix series that keep running for too long and then slowly turn to shit. No matter how good the competition, it just needs a good ending at some point. This competition ran indefinitely which just means it will die off naturally at some point and get cancelled. Again, like those netflix series.
For example, If football competitions just keep running endlessly, the matches slowly start losing their importance/excitement. Which results in people losing interest.
Also, for the 15th there was only one regiment that could challenge us or that we would want to challenge. It meant an endless amount of matches vs KKA until one of us got bored and stopped challenging the other.
That being said, this competition was a good idea. And you guys put a lot of work into it, which i can only compliment you for.

There were too many reg's remaining stagnant and not challenging others unfortunately, also as about a third of the regs in this community are disbanded and reformed by the same leadership every 2 months a permanent ladder like this isn't sustainable. It was suggested at the start that TGL be done in seasons, but the main idea behind TGL was to have a permanent ranking system.
TGL might be possible with a shorter format, like 1 week to fight after challenged with less per team such as 7v7 - because then teams could also be involved. However something like that would need support from other organisers in the community.
