Would it be possible to force the aiming reticle off through the server's files?

I know it can be done client side, but not sure about server side. I'd imagine it's not hard to do server side, but you'd have to find someone with the know-how to help you out.

It's not possible because it's client side. You could do that if the server itself was sending the reticle information to the client, but it doesn't work like that.

And the thread should be moved to modifications.

Find the crosshair file in your textures, open it with some image retouching software and cover the texture of transparency.
It is not possible to edit it via the server because it's dealt with the client.
