http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/13/world/europe/waterloo-coin-france-belgium-euro.html?smid=fb-share&_r=1

*sigh* Soon as the press come out with a report bashing on the French, everyone just jumps on the bandwagon, comments in FB pages these articles were posted in forced me to create this meme. I mean disagreeing with the French government is justified but the bashing of the French people themselves and generalizing them is just insulting, makes me despair I live in a country where some people still hold onto 200 year old grudges and propaganda.

Now do I like the idea of a Waterloo euro coin? It'd be ok I guess but then again I don't use the Euro so it wouldn't really effect me. Do I agree necessarily with the French government in not wanting the coin minted? Not really but I can understand and accept why the French government wouldn't want it, I mean Waterloo was one of France's greatest losses, and 200 years of being reminded that your country lost is probably a downer.
I liked the design with the Lion Mound and all, but hey, if the French government doesn't like then it shouldn't be minted. I mean if it was minted, then by all fairness all EU countries should have to have a coin minted showing their greatest defeats, I mean would Britain mint a coin commemorating Dunkirk, Fontenoy or the Raid of the Medway? Of course not!
At the end of the day the commemorations are essentially about remembering the men who died for their countries.
Sort of turned into a rant, but hey, British press sucks arse.

Germany likes to pretend Nazi-Germany was a very different Germany, so yes, they can.

To be fair though, Euro coins do look horrible compared to Pounds.

The Tsar actually offered Wellington a Russian corps to command, which would, if I'm not mistaken, more then double the size of his army. Wellington refused.

We'll just pretend the Austrians are the Berg Regiment in Prussian service.

Why refuse? To deny it would be a Russian victory?

Considering how much work Wellesley did in order to make sure everybody considered it a British victory, before a Prussian or even an Allied one, yes.

Taking the gigantic risk it would result not in an allied defeat, not a Russian defeat, not a Prussian defeat, but a British defeat.

Considering he managed to hide the fact he issued orders that would have led to his defeat, I doubt it.
