The 27ème Régiment d’Infanterie de Ligne was raised in 1616. It then got renamed to the Regiment de Lyonnais in 1635. In 1791 it got renamed to the current name with Phillipe-Andre-Francois De Fezensac as Colonel. Later in 1793, 3 regiments formed the 27e demi-brigade de bataille. These regiments were: ●   1er bataillon 14e Regiment d'Infanterie ●   1er bataillon Volontaires du Pas-de-Calaise ●   11e bataillon Volontaires des Fedres Chef-de-Brigade Dehay was appointed as the leader back then. In 1796 the 27e demi-brigade d'Infanterie de Ligne was formed ,by the 1er bataillon 8e Regiment d'Infanterie and the 40e demi-brigade de bataille, which was then lead by Chef-de-Brigade Leblanc.

Eventually, in 1803, the Brigade renamed to 27ème Régiment d’Infanterie de Ligne with Colonel Martial Bardet leading it. The regiment achieved the following battle honours: ●   Fleurus 1794 ●   Hohenlinden 1800 ●   Jena 1806 The first Battle was in Weissenburg in 1793 while the last Battle was in Waterloo 1815. There are only information about one Colonel being wounded, which was Colonel Jean-Baptiste-Pierre Menne on the 14th June 1807. The regiment also had two former Colonels achieving the rank of General-de-Brigade and above. These two Colonels were Colonel Bardet and Colonel Menne which both were Commanders of the Legion d’Honneur. But Waterloo was the last battle in the Napoleonic Wars and spelt the end of the era in Europe.

27ème Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne is, as the name says, an EU based line infantry regiment. Tho it also has an Artillery detachment. Just like most regiments our aim is gather mature players in order to create an extremely friendly environment/community in which our members can enjoy playing together no matter the game although our focus is on and Napoleonic Wars, of course. Our main goal is to become a respected regiment, a force to be reckoned with so to speak, within the and Napoleonic Wars community. While sharpening our [personal] melee skills we look to improve our teamwork – to us, teamwork and harmony are above all else. We are also always ready to apply new tactics and ideas of our members, regardless of their rank, in order to help us improve as a regiment. We are here to enjoy the game and with that in mind, where others enforce “discipline” we offer good organization, realising that this is just a game not an army boot camp. When it comes to rules, every member is expected to possess common politeness meaning no racism, chauvinism or any other “Ism”. We strongly discourage political discussions since it can only lead to pretty much pointless arguments from which our team unity will suffer, though it is not forbidden. If you share our ideas (mentioned above) on what regiment should be like, if you enjoy the French uniforms and would like a taste of what it was like to be part of Napoleon’s grand army, then 27ème Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne is a perfect regiment for you. Whether you are a grizzled veteran of NW or a beginner, no matter the age, you are most welcome to join us.
