Taking a different name, okay. But why make up an entire story?

The unit want me to, I have no problem with that. Give bit more sense of authenticity. I joined a progressive unit not just some kind of mainstream unit. They have high standards and striving to be authentic.

Its just a small background to the name, i think it is a good idea.

I truly can't see how you are more authentic when you make up a fake story.

But okay, your choice.

Exactly. The demand is low, so prices drop.

Right?  ;D

Called reenacting in the 1st Person. Personalyl im not compelled to in the civil war.
Of course, I also think lines should be able to move in double rank without having emotional breakdowns.

Personally I think you are joking about the lives of the men who really served in the unit. I saw Landrik and two other guys who had made fucking Facebook profils of their characthers. How is that, in any way, helping you being historicaly correct?

In my eyes, you are re-enacting a unit. Not a specific person. You can not act like you served in the real unit, because you did not.

Once again, that's just my opinion. Do what you consider proper, I suppose. I suspect you all think I'm overreacting, so let's just let this thing be from now.

No, cos I know plenty of people doing that. But they never act like they were really there.

Its not disrespectful in any way, shape or form. They are getting immersed into their character. What about films where people play others who died or was there? Is that disrespectful? No. If they make a profile on that character then good on them. If they have a good history and help people get a better understanding of the unit in question then great, there needs to be more of it.
