Like the FOV thing is pure opinion it doesn’t give a mechanical advantage beyond being able to see more, but then how would you know they have a higher FOV or were just tilde keying

I’m guessing it’s either gonna have to be that WSE is banned, which can’t be proven, or you just accept that people can change their FOVsYou probably can, the settings tab in the unaltered version is different to the altered. By forcing someone to use the steam one you could ask them to take a screenshot of their options menu with the admins announcement in it to prove it.

It's definitely an advantage just like yellow muskets plus others but it's so minimal IMO it barely effects the outcomes of any rounds at all, you can't stop people using these gimmicks and they're not going to make you a better player.
You're still just gonna be just as shit even with every little giga cheat turned on.

What also got added for dedicated servers is the ability to set the maximum FPS of the server higher from its default 120 FPS setting.
with the command:
set_server_fps_limit #takes values 10-1000
Be carefull with this, it will create unnessisary high load on the server box, it is made for perhaps small clan competitive matches to have in theory slightly better server responsivness and physics acuracy... But the difirence will probably be neglectable.

I don't think anyone is saying the bad thing about WSE is the frame improvement. However, it is, by like every definition, something that would be considered a cheat in every game due to how it is put into it. Furthermore, there are literally ways in WSE to give you an advantage not intended by the game developers. So, it might be unfair for someone to play on a worse computer, but its not cheating on the end of the person who has a better one and I think you know that. Obviously, you were trying to equate the similarities related to framerate. Yet, that was never the main focus on if it should be allowed.

You’re thinking wrong, there shouldn’t be a requirement to download a third party software, normalising cheating because it’s available to everyone is the most deluded idea I’ve ever heard, cheats in all games are available to everyone, doesn’t mean it’s not cheating.
FOV in NW is different due to it being third person rather than first (allowing to see more behind you), comparing them to other competitive games makes little sense.

Optifine is basically the same thing as wse2 but for minecraft, only difference being that one allows ppl to change their fov and the other allows ppl to zoom which is basically the same thing for their respective games but it's still allowed in actual tournaments and servers like hypixel allow cause it's main purpose is boosting fps and making the game smoother which allows more people to actually play and enjoy the game

Realistically the FOV slider doesn't turn everyone into a beast, you won't see a drastic improvement in their ability with a higher FOV, especially if they decide to use 100 because that shit whack. Now it's something we all know about just use it or don't and get on with it. It's hardly like unblockable, autoblock, etc which we've basically done nothing about in most cases as much like this it's very hard to prove anything or detect it.

I think for the time being, banning WSE2 would be the best option until there's a viable fix.I don't think a competitive version is good, since that puts up accessibility barriers. The 'remote' FOV lock sounds like you just set it server side and it overrides client settings. If that's possible it's surely the best solution.
After speaking with the developer of WSE2, I'm not particularly keen in remotely locking FOV on a new client, but another option would be to have a new 'NW Competitive' version (which removes the FOV slider), install WSE2 server-side and use the kicking script to kick people who don't have the NW Competitive version, thus keeping the performance gain, but removing FOV. I don't think the current version should be normalised or used for the time being though.

Yeah, he's zoomed out using WSE (at least 90FOV); if zoomed in, the character position would be in the same place as anyone else, thus not giving any benefit. Widescreen monitors come with its own drawbacks anyways.

Well we were actually discussion to remove WSE2 from ATS, but it was too late; originally, we tried to see if we could limit FOV server-side but didn't have much success, so the alternative was to just ban WSE2 and use a version check server-side to detect who's using it and ban it.
Though we were still figuring it out by the time the last tournament came so never went through. I have hopes that EGS will also ban it, and I think that's sort of the plan.

If you're too lazy to figure out why it's running bad and want to install WSE2 to fix it for the cheat trade-off, then you're stupid. Lucky you then, doesn't mean there should be some additional FOV copium which allows to see directly behind ur character, which is outside the scope of larger monitors, larger monitors also have the drawback of actually having to move your head to see to that side, so even though you see more, you also have to look more, and it still doesn't let you see behind you.

@Fietta if there was a version of the client without an FOV slider, and the server side tools existed to determine which WSE2 version each player is using as a method of enforcement, would you have any issue with WSE2 being used?
i found out in WSE server configuration that you can select FOV for 3rd and 1st persons for your server

You don't need 'access' to FSE or TaleWorlds to install WSE2 (as you don't need an account it's there publically), you need access to the internet which everyone playing NW has. I have seen people play with 100 ping and above on the Groupfighting server and in events when WSE2 wasn't a thing or not very popular yet that people didn't really know about it. With WSE you can turn the whole M&B upside down, fuck it twice and do whatever you want, but fse community only guessed to use WSE for fps-increasing and FoV using :-\. Same time most WSE players couldnt even imagine that it can be used in client game part. That is kinda vulgar, gentlemen. If you wanna see what the real WSE is - come to PN servers on Native, if they are still alive. They were made by team of VALROY, MorDa and K700(in some points).
Where you guys have been all this time, when true gigachads just made Invasion for M&B and happily played it PvE? WSE is not the only problem for you - some morons always cried about pings on German servers, for example. CIS and Turkish community is playing on 50-100 pings and noone cares about playing on servers that are good for both sides. Noone plays half a match on FRA and half on RUS servers, if teams are from that regions. Some are even crying if they have not 10, but 20 ping lol. So I cant see the point to speak about if WSE is fair or not. If you want fair game - play LAN tournaments lol. Any other discussion is useless and idle. Play without cheats and on russian/turkish/NA/others servers. Fuck you.

Out of curiosity would people want to see a stream where I get some people from opposing viewpoints on to have an open forum/debate on the WSE2 subject? Can also transcribe it out for FSE later. Similar to what we did for Fotin v Maskman but a little more of an open forum.
Personally I think thats the only way you are going to hear legitimate pros/cons, allow people in chat to air their opinions for us to read out and also throw ideas out for possible solutions etc. if people have them. Otherwise these threads will keep on going forever. Although saying that they probably won't stop this is NW ;D But at least you won't have to read through 40+ pages of FSE autism for it.
