Hmm can't wait till I start my Soviet impression.
No. I don't buy shitty stuff. I pay good stuff I can afford, or nothing. I don't do 'temporarily solutions'. Loaner gear is different, of course.
Nah, my question was dedicated to your: "Money does not play a role!"
Sounded like you won in lotto and you are now able to buy anything you want :P

Regulation,
Whoever take high command of the regiment must sleath their sword out. Thats how guys in line know whos in command among mess of officers. Also sign of respect. "Sir i am keeping my sword hilt to pass the command to you"

Nice video though, George. Your group (guessing that's your group) looks good. Glad to see you seem to fight properly instead of doing the 'hug of death' like the vikings over here do.
yep, tis my group... never heard of that hug of death thingy ???

Some dark ages groups over here fight by pushing their shields together and trying to rub their swords against each other's backs.
It just looks like a bunch of guys hugging.
Funnily, duuring showed me a photo of 95th Shako being burnt to hell last week. The same one?(https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/t31.0-8/1979334_563258107120110_2750593722489898905_o.jpg)

Video of part of the Napoleonic battle, mainly see the 69e Voltiguers in action.Day 1 battle... a fucking piss up in a brewery! It misses the part where Donald "Doesn't know how to lead" Meulemans leads the whole of 3 Brigade across the front of the british army with our flanks exposed to a charging French force!!!! Utter muppet.

Got to see, the Voltiguers firing into the Redcoat flank at around 6:00 would've seen their officers and colour bearers dead at that range, I swear at every event that big line is they never fookin' die ;_;
Richard Delingpole sums up battles against redcoats at 4:30 "These guys don't know when to die!"
Welcome to the British Army!
This weekend it was only the brunswickers, 5/60th and 95th. Come Waterloo next year 3Bde will be massive. It's usually always the biggest on the field wherever we go. This weekend we were 2nd largest owing to us having no 42nd
Just gutted that mike Haynes is no longer commanding us as he's now commander of all British forces. Which means we've been lumbered with a self promoted twat who really can't command
You've got the 5/60 fighting as French this weekend. Don't worry about 2/95 either. They usually misfire! It's the 3/95 you need to worry about ;)This weekend it was only the brunswickers, 5/60th and 95th. Come Waterloo next year 3Bde will be massive. Ah, sucks for you chaps. Haw haw les Francais has le great leaders from the ranks instead of le nobility who buy le rank, hawhawhawhawhaw!
My next and last event (though might have a meeting or training event in November for Waterloo 2015) is at Cannon Hall this bank holiday, we're gonna be quite outnumbered with us 21e and "ten members from 85e" against the 2/95th Rifless, 33rd, 68th, the Colstreamers and the 41st :S
Still hopefully they'll die unlike them lot at Spetchley...there's always hope ::)
Still, just more redcoats to kill, bring it on! Heh heh!
Was there any powder in the barrel... ?A bit, it gradually went up as i got used to it. But that was the first time. ;)
The flashguard of the brown bess slided off. I remember it very clearly.
I've had some minor burns in my neck after Hoogstraten but really nothing major.
Oh and call me a sissy, but I always use earplugs when I go into battle.
One thing I see a lot of with people firing is them leaning back as well. For god sake lean into the shot!

Nearly everyone does it firing whatever weapon. see it a lot in archery too. Think it's a false feeling of balancing for the heavy object in your hands.
Yup, there's definitely a couple of familiar people in it.
Anyway, Vince and Duuring, you better be there at the LPLG at the end of the month.

Their German isn't accented, which is why it sounds weird. "American German" sounds gutteral and incorrect. It has to flow methodically otherwise it sounds like you're trying to force out a shit...

Oh i get it now Olaf, only voices am hearing in the video, would be my squad leader Christian. I guess Petsch could be right about american accent getting in the way of German speaking. However in the video, he was sniped and in pain. That would explain the hoarse yelling.

Also, I got back from my reenactment this weekend, and there are going to be loads of pictures and videos being thrown up by the even host Bob Collings from the Collings Foundation in Stow, Massachusetts. Can't wait to share, because I had some pretty epic deaths in three of the four battles.

Oorlog Zonder Vrienden by Evert Hartman?
Pretty much a must read for everyone in the NL, I'd say.
That's what happens if you let a bastard from the North handle the show.

Can't watch it from my location...damned British discrimination of foreigners....
No idea if you guys outside of the Uk can see this but it's an hour long epissode of a documentary series looking at reenactment, this episode was filmed mainly at Hunton court last year and features the 21eme a lot, with our Adjutant Chris Durkin making a great contribution."I'll Bloody Hit him next time" Good old Mr Parker showing himself in the greatest light on national tv
http://yesterday.uktv.co.uk/shows/weekend-warriors/watch-online/#3975515682001
Bit of drama at around 50 minutes, I think Durkin carried himself out superbly.
Lol, seems typical of Parker. I think he doesn't like losing.Agreed! He's not the only person featured in the programme who I wouldn't mind smacking though...

Dou the WW2 guys have to clean up the battlefield after they're done? I mean, all the shells...
What we do here, after a battle, spectators (mostly kids) will storm the field and try find shells for souvnier, it has been successful that way. Win-Win, field is clean and children are happy.
For some reason I've not seen my group on any picture of film. :-\
Was at Waterloo last Friday. Had an awesome day and recorded alot of parts of the battle.
I uploaded a couple vids on this channel, And might upload some more.

It seems the regular forum users have found us.I cracked up so hard when I saw this post. xD
They portray aides-de-camp but they don't belong to a particular regiment, they come to events and carry the army commander's orders to different units during battles, the pair of them are both very good friends of the 21eme. One's called Malcolm from Malta and he's one of the coolest guys you can ever meet. Can support that.
God Ed Parker is a nob.
"If you're British it's almost a necessity."
"We ARE that army."
"The British army is the be all end all of Napoleonic reenactment."
Fucking bollocks.

Damn the speech of the prussian nearly made me join the silesian landwehr
It depends, most Aide de Camp had a specific uniform yes especially those from the Etat-Major, but a lot of them kept their previous uniform (hussars captain for Marbot or Garde Impériale lieutenant for Coignet) and only wore a blue armband (like this one (http://images-02.delcampe-static.net/img_large/auction/000/181/426/630_004.jpg?v=2) ). Others as the famous Heymès (Ney's Aide de Camp) chose to compose their own uniform !
I've set up the 21eme Regiment de Ligne's YouTube channel, I have a lot of ideas for the future with it. Already put up several videos from previous campaigns seasons. A lot of the videos give a great insight into what it's like in our unit.

We should ban bleached cotton trousers. They are a pain to look at.
Ai, but french trousers never were made out of cotton. They were made out of unbleached linen.
Well the pantalon de route is a non regulation item, as such it can be any cloth and or colour :) Although cotton is still uncommon in Europe at that time. For the Bardin pantalons, bardin basically decided to get rid of the woolen trousers and long gaiters, as he saw that none wore those. Instead he introduced the pantalon de route as a regulation item made out of unbleached linen.
Mr. T
I am not sure. Who told you that? Where do you get your trousers from? If they are, they clearly are bleached.
I wish i lived in Europe
May not wanna live here in Europe. xdYeah go to an other continent. Choo choo.

Ah yes, I found the list of weights in the french army, for different soldiers. It does however, assume that your canteen is filled and that you still have all the issue gear + 4 days worth of bread.
Voltigeur cornetist 19.9kg
Voltigeur officer 23.9kg
Voltigeur 23.96kg
Fusilier 24.1kg
Fusilier corporal, 25.7kg
Fusilier drummer 26.2kg
Grenadier 27.35kg
Fusilier sergeant 27kg
Grenadier drummer 27.7kg
Grenadier sergeant 29.31kg
Sapper 32.975kg
This is interesting actually, thank you for this Riddlez. I am going to try some stuff out.
That's... not an awful lot...
One thing to consider would be to get this fabulous pink waistcoat though. YOU KNOW YOU WANT IT.
I am fairly sure btw. that they are not wearing gaiters, but cavalry boots without spurs. It was very common in the french navy/the navy's in general at the time. If you compare the drawing of these boots to the drawings of cavalry boots, you can see that they look exactly the same.
There's plenty of muskets still working fine after 200 years.
That's not really right either. If the Suhr drawings are accurate, soldiers wore different models, but the ones that had a guard with multiple bars, they always covered the entire hand and not just the front, like this (https://i.imgur.com/JAHxgPc). That one also clearly has only one bar. Two-bar-models can be seen though, as well as models looking very much like the French sabre-briquet.

True, but there's always the issue: does anyone actually even make those models nowadays?
I got the squarish one for Nassau voltigeurs. I'm willing to sell it for any reasonable bid :P
