The 54th Regiment of Foot was an infantry regiment of the British Army.
Originally formed in 1755 as the 56th Regiment of Foot it was renumbered as the 54th when the 50th Regiment and 51st Regiment were disbanded.
Five days later, 100 men of the 54th Regiment of Foot embarked on boats to attack saw mills at Fall River, Massachusetts. The galley Pigot and some armed boats were to provide support. Pigot grounded, but the attack proceeded anyway. A sharp skirmish ensued when the troops arrived at their objective. Even so, they were able to destroy one saw mill and one grain mill, as well as a large stock of planks and boards, other buildings, some cedar boats, and so on. They then withdrew, having lost two men killed and five officers and men wounded. As the tide returned, Pigot was floated off, but as Flora towed her off, Flora lost two men killed and alieutenant severely wounded.[1]
The Regiment was renamed as 54th (West Norfolk) Regiment of Foot on 31 August 1782. As part of the Childers Reforms it was united with the 39th (Dorsetshire) Regiment of Foot, to form The Dorsetshire Regiment in 1881.(https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1222.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fdd488%2F5thmisguided%2FUntitled-1_zps2140241e.png&hash=c13e1954db63cb2716a64de4f00f368cbf21029a)The 54th 'West Norfolk' Regiment of Foot was formed out of a smaller yet successful regiment known as the 49e Regiment de Ligne led by Stox in August of 2013. Stox, known for his charismatic leadership style and near insane anecdotes soon pulled in mass amounts of new and veteran players from the community. Thus following the regiment had begun to make a name for itself. Around November of 2013 the regiment had begun to pick up steam fielding nearly 40 members per event in a goal to compete with the 29th Worcestershire for the largest regiment on the North American Side at the present time. Later on continuing the goal the regiment had amounted to fielding nearly 60 members per event by late December thus achieving the goal of the largest regiment on the North American side for at least a brief period of time. Following closely as always was the 29th. The 54th had then continued on as such until early June of 2014 and as most attention spans do they move on to other interests. The leadership had noticed a steep decline in attendance and participation from its members around late June leading up to the decision to take a hiatus from Mount & Blade all together.
Following the brief Hiatus of nearly 5 months, members had branched off into many games such as Counter Strike or World of Warcraft but soon realized that a return to Mount & Blade was evident. After a brief yet productive meeting; Becker and Vinago had come to terms on bringing the 54th 'West Norfolk' Back to the NW community thus bringing on the "New Age of the 54th".
