   2010-2013

The 1er Grenadiers were formed as a Mount & Musket regiment on 31 October 2010 by Willard who soon after gave Herlev overall command as Colonel, we started out small but eventually grew into a formidable regiment ranking among the top with a reputation for fearful melee skills and cursed marksmanship. We had frequent 1vs1 linebattles and a good record with 40+ won matches and about 6 lost, as well as hosting several of our own historical events and bigger linebattles. We also maintained a healthy rivalry with the British 51st. Eventually we joined the Imperial French Army who collected many of the best regiments into one organization with the aim to fight other such armies, which we remained a member of for over a year, until we left and then became a member of the Imperial Guard, although we didn't participate as much in that army. In the summer of 2012 a while after the release of Napoleonic Wars our Colonel Herlev announced his resignation and Maktheridon stepped up as Colonel until in the beginning of 2013 he also stepped down and Colonel Sergi took command. Throughout all of this, members have joined and left and many great friendships were forged in the heart of battle many still lasting to this day.

   2014-2016

The North American company was formed on June 21, 2012 under the command of Frederickson up until early 2014 when he stepped down and let Christopher take over. Soon thereafter he stepped down and Glukhovsky (GlukTheWalrus) took over in October of 2014. The 1er would later disband on July 2, 2015 after it's long standing 5 years in the Napoleonic Wars community. The 1er was one of the most feared regiments in the community during its reign.

The Old Guard was the elite of the elite, the creme de la creme of Napoleon's infantry. You cannot exaggerate about them. They were convinced to the point of arrogance, that they are the most ferocious fighters on earth- and the amusing thing about it is that they were. If the men of the Old Guard had the chance to fight the enemy today in a pub, they would take them to the cleaners then drive them back in a school bus sobbing like the muppets. The Emperor was proud of their reputation, appearance, and always gave them a prominent place in his great exhibitions at Paris. They occupied the barracks of the Cent-Suisse, nearest the Emperor. Over the door was carved: "The Home of the Brave". One of the commanders of the Old Guard was General Gros. Napoleon had a very particular regard for him. “Gros, he said, lives in gunpowder like fish in water: it is his element.... He is a finished trooper.” Gros was masculine, very brave but poorly educated, the way in which he expressed himself belonged only to him. With their wounds, tattoos, and golden earrings, the fearsome legionnaires inspired awe. Napoleon selected his guardsmen carefully and the requirements were not easy to meet for the candidates. In 1806 only one man from each infantry battalion was admitted to the Old Guard.

The Old Guard was disbanded by the victorious Sixth Coalition in 1814, along with the rest of the Imperial Guard. During Napoleon's 1815 return from exile, the Old Guard was reformed, and fought at the Battle of Waterloo, where the 2e Regiment de Grenadiers-à-Pied was pivotal in the defense of the village of Plancenoit against the Prussians. The 1er Regiment, charged with protecting the field position around Napoleon himself, served as a rear guard after the failure of the attack of the Middle Guard on the British center. The Old Guard cavalry was involved in the unsuccessful midday charges against the British infantry, and was unavailable at the battle's decisive moments. In August 1815, Louis XVIII ordered the Imperial Guard abolished. By December, all the Old Guard regiments were disbanded. Ex-guardsmen ended up in a variety of places after their units' disbandment. Some re-enlisted into the king's army. Most lived out their lives watched with suspicion by Bourbon police. When Napoleon's body was returned to France in 1840, many of the surviving Old Guard paraded in threadbare uniforms.
