Well.. as we were taught it, the British Government was under a lot of debt from all the wars they had, and felt that the colonists across the ocean should share the same burden as they looted a lot from the French-Indian War.  So little by little the British Parliament tried putting ridiculous taxes on the colonies, stamp act, tea, excise, etc.. So colonists got pissed, wanted to be free from British rule for good, you know the rest..

So obviously I will side with the US... lol still not seeing point of thread  ::)

I AM 'MURICAN but I would choose Britain because of what Jelly said. Yes, taxation sucks and yes, the brits didn't really fight to protect us for any moral reason, just land. In the end though, the American revolution is just a regime change where we trade one set of rich whites for another. The true American revolution doesn't really occur until 1861 with the civil war.

Whats next? "Aliens or monsters"? "Zombies or Vampires?" Just stick to one thread, soon you would be the #1 thread maker of useless threads.

The French had no claims on the Thirteen Colonies, your argument is invalid.

US looked nicer back in the 18-19th century compared to now. Now you have skyscrapers everywhere and most of the cultural heritage is burnt. (Sorry, I might overreact a bit.)

Some taxation came from the French and Indian war, and if Britain had lost that, the colonies would've been French.

I wonder if the French would have taxed us as harshly as the UK, would we have stilled rebelled?
