MM all the way. NW has been one long bumpy ride of frustration, even though I have been quite successful in it and play at a high level now. MM felt so intuitive, a pleasure to learn and master, and moreover felt more immersive in the sense that the higher turning speed and better utilisation of chambering mechanics gave a lot more personal control to an individual in all areas of gameplay save arty (arty had a much higher skill ceiling however, which made it a lot more rewarding to succeed in). I'm not preaching for the return of MM, albeit it would be fun to have some nostalgia-driven events on it sometime, but rather acknowledging that it was a more enjoyable period for me in all my time in the community.

Well done everyone. Was chuffed to have beaten the favourites in the first round, they played well nevertheless. And no better opponent to meet in the final but good old Minions, now resurgent it seems. Finally after that long wait knicked another GFing win.

There is nothing in this. I was present and what I saw was more like antagonism towards Tavington than anything else. Tav's quotes and also seeing someone called 'Nobody', who I suspect was a 15e member, trying to provoke a response from him would put the accusers in the same boat as Tav.
 
None of the chatter is even worth mentioning though to be honest and people should not be so quick to judge, if judge at all on the matter. This isn't even regiment politics, not that admins should get involved in regiment politics anyway, just a few remarks that are being read into too much. Just a load of conjecture in here.

During the time of the final we had to switch from several servers due to problems with the UK ping. Huge ping fluctuations on the French server and problems with the German fiber network on both 15e and 91st servers that have been going on for a while now. Those fiber-network issues have never affected Germans and curiously the NL also, but has and does still affect a multitude of Finns, Danes, Brits and French. Indeed, problems manifested in the game in the manner of persistent poking and inability to kill enemies with less than 3 or even 4 hits, which was ludicrous. You can claim to have won NWEC, but I can't take a match like that seriously so it does not have my ratification, and for that matter, neither does NW competitive gameplay anymore.

I've come to the conclusion that server location has a major bearing on the outcome of matches in this game. The Germany vs UK game for instance was on a server much closer to the UK than Germany and the result reflected that. Similar applies to the final and various other matches throughout the tournament. That's why I think I'm done with competitive play in NW. I didn't get a single 1 hit kill in that match and yet I got them galore in the Germany game, my teammates having similar experiences. So I congratulate NL on their win and bid competitive play in this NW farewell.

Angry Joe loves Kickstarters and loved NW so he'd surely support the game's cause. Total Biscuit loves the up and coming melee combat games and is a great fan of Planetside 2 (it's vast scale) so he'd defintely be interested too. However, it is too early to be making promises to the masses, maybe half way in development you could start telling the YouTube giants about it.

I'm glad it's not being wiped, not because I will use it over this one, but because there is a lot of history on there that I want archived so I can refer back to it (debate threads, old tournament and event threads etc). It'll just be like the Mount and Musket forum is now, noone uses it but it's a nice place to visit at nostalgic times, so I think it'll be fine so long as people know that this is the main foru for community involvement and stuff like unbans.

Taiga had it all for me. You could enjoy every element of the game in that (Inf, Cav, Art, melee, shooting) without the map being too expansive or skewed in favour of 1 class.
 
Taiga is THE map to bring into NW if they ever decide to make more maps.
