Technical Support / Frame rate lag just appeared?
« on: April 27, 2013, 01:58:09 pm »
Ok, so my problem is that about a week ago, I was playing a linebattle in NW and the game crashed like normal. When I re-opened the game, I had terrible frame rate lag every time I looked at a line over 4 men. I recently updated my drivers for Nvidia which I have read in really old threads that could be a problem. I'll list my specs here:

I5 2500k @ 3.3GHz
Nvidia GTX 660 (2GB)
8GB RAM

It seems to be that it has a massive problem with the bright uniforms, because it does it in both North and South and Blood and Iron too. And it seems to be in just multiplayer, in a custom battle I can spawn 400 bots and I will get 120fps easily, however when playing online and looking at just 3-4 guys, I get 12 fps. Please help, it would be appreciated, thanks.

EDIT: Latest driver update is 314.22, I've looked at the 301.42 fix, that driver is not compatible with a GTX660.

Good luck :)

(and I don't want to be picky but your name should still be North Devonshire seems as our time period was before the Childers Reforms)

But then again it's up to you on what you want :)

Will there be tanks? You could use the arty horse for the speed of movemt and then texture it up :)
Given the set time and amount of work that would require. No.
Why not do it at a slow pace and add it in as an update?

Because it would have wildly varying amounts of players needed in each tank for each side. the Mk I. required just 8 men to operate it, where as the A7V required from 18-24 men to operate it, plus there would be massive balancing issues due to the different designs and different size cannons used.

Making mods that are based off history in the past 40 years, especially one as bloody and violent as The Troubles in Ireland, would be a extremely bad idea because many people both here and in general still remember what was going on during those times. The other day at my cadets we were shown a video of 2 British undercover soldiers who were caught at an Irish funeral and tried to escape, they were pulled out of the cars, beaten to death and then their bodies were dragged through the streets to the local park. Would you really want a mod like that that a. would be so vile and disgusting b. incenses people on both sides of the conflict and c. gives British people a reason to re-enact out massacres that took place. Plus this is a game engine built for events that happened 150+ years before, creating a mod like this with this engine would be near impossible, you'd be better trying with arma but I'm afraid you would receive the same reception because it is still to this day a sensitive subject. If you have been watching the news lately you would have seen that.

I fareness, your right, but, I dont understnd why it should be ignored.

Why would you use an example where the Irish were at fault? The Brits were (if anything) worse than us....

Your such a bullshitter.

The IRA killed a ridiculous amount of innocent people, those killed by the British army are very controversial as to the facts.

The IRA were nothing but murderers fighting for a useless cause. The British army were merely defending the vast majority in Northern Ireland.

It was not for a useless cause, you cocky Brits decieded to be greedy and keep Northern Ireland for thenselves. This wouldn't have had happened unless you Brits didn't come here in the first place.

And Ill give you a story to show what the British did to the innocent Irish.

There was a group of Catholic boys who were organising a dinner-dance for Catholics only. When the RUC found out, they were worried that they would start a rebellion. So, the leader of the group, was telling his Protestant friends about this, and they didn't mind it much. One day, a black car pulled up alongside the Protestant group (who were with the leader of the catholic group) and shot all 8 of them. Just because they were organising a dinner-dance. And they killed their own people, teens at that.

I am ashamed of what the IRA did, but it was for a cause, so you can cop yourself on my friend ;)

You do realise that most Irish in that section of Ireland wanted to be part of the UK, this mod would just stir up trouble between Irish Republicans and Irish Loyalists and British people in this community, I'd prefer to not have any of it and that is why I do not support this mod in any way.

EDIT: IN FACT, look at what this thread is like, there has been no progress with this mod yet people are arguing because this sort of topic is bound to stir up large amounts of unrest and trouble.

Just trying to put forward another point of view.

This conflict is very vivid and a touchy subject with some people still affected by it.
But the same could be said about any other game that involves an actual war, theres politics, nationalism etc going on, those games attract certain people with different convictions and ideas.
Just show some backbone and let these people make the mod that they want, thats their freedom.
The animosity comes with the subject, this thread strenghtens that.
So what you guys need to decide is, "Do you think people will play this and make communities, socialise etc" because if not, you might aswel try something else.

I'm not agreeing with you per sé but i acknowledge that you can do whatever you please within reason and other people should respect that whether they agree with it or not.
And maybe the Irish war of Independence would be more acceptable, you'd still get a similar crowd of mainly petty nationalists but it has never been made into a game.
On the other hand, i could be totally wrong and a mature community would play it.

But there is a difference, games that base themselves on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are acceptable because they were/are actual wars. These 'Troubles' were terrorist acts that were committed by both sides either by accident or on purpose, they were a dangerous concoction of left-right wing politics with religion and terrorism mixed in. If you've ever been to the bad side of youtube you would understand how much of a sensitive topic religion still is. Plus why would you even WANT to play a mod where all you are doing is shooting civilians because the game is telling you they are protestant or catholic?

I was giving that as an example as one of the things the Irish did, I'm not saying that the Irish WERE at fault, because we did bad things too like depicted in the movie Bloody Sunday.

Rigadoon I happen to notice that on the german blades have stripes on it's handle.
Were they part of the design or just something soldiers did to keep the 'bodycount'?

Not player created trenches, but maybe player created sapper lines that are created between the trenches, so men could avoid deadly machine gun fire (but not artillery), the only downfall with this would be the time span of how long it would take to create one of these...

I think a good siege map would be the Monte Cassino in Italy. It has (as far as I know of the area) good open areas but also close in craggy areas that would be perfect for trying to attack through. Then the main abbey in the centre of the map with the flag in the middle of the courtyard. This should have a few gate entrances around it or as close to real life as possible. I also think it should be pre bombed, so the abbey is still intact to give the defenders a better advantage and the artillery on the attacking side something to destroy. Finally it gives the game a sense of historical accuracy whilst in keep with a game mode like siege.
