It won't be killed by that mod as chances are multiplayer won't have artillery.

Logically people who play NW will have one or two events with it a night to get fresh blood who would hesitate in buying a over priced DLC of an old game.

Both communities will co-exist with the same numbers because we're the same messy over dramatic group of people. End of. Stop bringing it up.

I have to agree here. Similar games can coexist and not to the detriment of each other. More over, the way NW is set up really makes it difficult to 'kill' as it were. With player run dedicated servers, anyone can set up a public server for some fun, or for regular events. Years from now, even if we see few public players left, we will still have events being run by groups that simply enjoy the game.

You're kidding, right? So, when someone calls a white person "cracka," it's okay? Same fucking shit, dude. Nigger and cracker have been used for centuries, but only nigger is bad? I don't see the logic in this, and never will. It's alright for society to call a white man cracker, but once nigger is thrown out, then everyone goes berserk saying that the people who say such words are racist, bigots, whatever.

Same goes for saying nigga' or cracka'. Same shit, but once nigga' is said, it's racist.

Just because a word has very negative roots doesn't mean it's follows in the same path.  People and words can change over time.

Look at Germans, if I followed your logic I'd call every one of them a Nazi who hates Jews/Blacks/Gays etc.  Doesn't matter if that happened a long time ago, it's "in their roots".  And don't try to say, "that's completely different" bla bla bla.  It's the same thing.  A word and it's meaning can change, just like people.  It takes an educated mind to see change, and you can say "it hasn't changed it's still the same", but you'd be lying to yourself.

It's not the word that is the problem, it's ignorant people.

I know not every Nazi hated Jews/Blacks/Gays etc. It might sound like I believe they all were like that.

What do modern Germans do that in any way contribute to this conversation? Being called German was never negative or derogatory, its a nationality. Your allegory has me confused.

All my black friends say that "nigga" is almost like a bond word, which you would only say to your friend and they only get offended when you say "nig**r". I get called "cracker" a lot, I've even seen it in game and nothing happens, but my view is that you should shrug it off, if someone calls you a derogatory term on the internet, then your living up to the meaning of the word if you get offended by it.

One of those words has centuries of oppressive history tied to it, the other is a modern invention used against people who find it easy to shrug it off as they never had to deal with being a racial minority. There is a difference, and equating the two is fallacious at best.

'Nigga' is a slugged form of Negro, and the only reason I used it is because the movie character uses it.

No, no it is not. Nigga has always and ever been an eye dialectic of Nigger. Trying to argue otherwise is just crap.

I brought up homophobic slurs because both are used by vapid internet users who think that just because they can claim the word means something different now, they have free reign to use it and expect others to fall in line in accepting it. It is almost as bad as claiming you have a black or gay friend, so its totally cool to use such words.

I dunno, personally I think an admin should get involved if they person on the other side of the word is being legitimately offended.

I mean me and my buds make fun of each-other with racially charged jokes almost everyday, and we don't hate people based on things like that. We just find it satirical.

We assume automatically that such terms will offend someone on the servers. We service a large and diverse group of people from several different parts of the world, and as such understand that words and actions will affect people differently. Not only that, those who are offended by such terms will typically not actually mention the offense, because actually calling out that such shit is offensive typically gets you laughed at on the internet. It is a tyranny of the majority, and the internet has it the worst.

There it is! Just like using 'faggot' and claiming you are using it to call someone a cigarette, these words reinforce cultural norms and practices that have gone on for decades, if not centuries. You don't have to personally think Black Americans or LGBT individuals are subhuman, by deciding to use such language you have made the decision to perpetuate such opinions.

Now that the lengthy trial period has come to an end, I am happy to announce that we have ended the application process for the north American server. If you did not recieve an acceptance letter, and wish to know why you did not make the cut, please PM me and I will look into it. Otherwise, feel free to re apply under this post for consideration next acceptance cycle. If you are applying for EU, do not worry about reapplying, this is only addressed for those interested in applying for the North American Server. If you want to apply for the next NA cycle of administration recruitment, post your updated application after this post.

1. I (nominally) don't care where people decide to come from, and you shouldn't either. Posting about how they don't belong is counterproductive to a game with such a niche audience. Stop it.

2. No, we will not tolerate the use of summerfag, or any other form of lingo involving fag. Rejenorst posted good reasons as to why.

3. If you don't like where a group comes from, just refrain from posting in the thread.

4. People who complain about summer people are the real problem, rather than the mythical creatures they claim exist.

What I meant was I was never notified of any wrongdoings/ success. So it was basically like I was a regular admin.

Then you must have done just fine. There have been several times over the past administrative selection processes where I have had to speak to people on a one on one basis for faults made during their trial run. Honestly there is very little new administrators do that I would remove them for immediately. This is mostly because (and I think you would agree with me) the largest and most egregious faults from administrators are from those who are too comfortable with the position, and are willing to abuse the position for their own gains or pleasure.

Pets, the best advice I can give you, if you feel an admin has done something wrong, screenshot or record the date/time, and present it to Deo. I have re-presentd some of my stuff to Deo, and he has acknowledged that it is something that needs to be looked into and dealt with.

Pretty much exactly this. If you see a problem, I won't hear about it unless someone tells me. Keeping the server running smoothly is something both administrators and the community need to work towards.

Here is the administrative selection process, condensed down to readable state.

Phase 1: Deofuta groups up all the applicants and asks for certain information to make sure that the applicant is still interested in the position.
Phase 2: The Senior and Napoleonic Wars administrators are consulted to gather all the necessary opinions regarding said applicants.
Phase 3: Deofuta and the senior admins decide upon whom of the applicants are suitable for the job or not.
Phase 4: The selected administrators will be made known to the Napoleonic wars administrators.
Phase 5: The selected administrators will be placed on trial for two weeks. Any actions which seem inappropriate by the administrator on trail should be reported to Deofuta or a senior administrator for further evaluation.
Phase 6:  Deofuta and the senior admins decides if the person is appropriate or not depending on the trial.
Phase 7: A new administrator is welcome into the flock.

Probably seems pretty thread bare in that state, truth is in the pudding I suppose. If you want I can show the posts and forms that document each stage.
