Hello, I'm BSM 'Shut Up' Williams, also known as baktech, I am creating a mod about the French Campaign of Mexico on 8 December 1861 – 21 June 1867.

Development Notes

Musicians will be taken away from the regiment "Choose your Rank" section to be put into the "Music Detachment" class and replaced with ranks such as the main ones like Corporal, Sergeant then Junior Officer and Senior Officer. This will allow regiments to identify their men's ranks much easier instead of having to go up to them to read their tags.

Did they have the chassepot during this war?

They didn't use the Chassepot, it was adopted in November 1867 whereas the Mexican war ended in June 1867.
They would have been using Tabatiere Rifles which is a general name for the conversion of rifled muskets into breechloaders, it's really difficult to find the specific models converted.

Just like the trapdoor springfield but the breechlock was folded sideways.

Light Infantry/Chasseurs : 1er, 7e, 18e et 20e de chasseurs à pied (with no flag, considering the 10e was the Chasseurs' flag owner)
Zouaves : 1er, 2e et 3e zouaves ;
Light Infantry :
      From the Colonies :  2e bataillon d'infanterie légère d'Afrique,  Bataillon de marche de tirailleurs algériens.
Légion Etrangère : 1e Régiment Étranger (legendary)
Light Cavalry : le 12e régiment de chasseurs à cheval ,  5e régiment de hussard
Sapper : 1er, 2e et 3e régiment de génie ;
Artillery :  1er, 3e, 4e, 5e, 6e, 7e, 9e, 11e régiment d'artillerie. Also one battery from L'artillerie montée de la Garde impériale
 
And some marines troops, Carribean volunteers and marine artillery.

French contingent was stronk of 38 493 soldiers.
I will have to add that there was 6 812 Austrians, 1 465 Belgians, 20 285 Mexicans (french auxiliaries), 424 Egyptians, 1 047 Hungrians, 472 Polish !

Well... Germany wasn't exactly in the greatest shape post-WWI. Neither was Russia.

1.) Hitler reformed Germany. Until the holocaust would Hitler have been good.
2.) France and GB got completely fucked.
3.) America didn't participate long enough to get fucked.

JDF, I've seen pictures of post WWI France. I have family who lived in post WWI France. The French were not fucked until the Great Depression, where everyone except the damn Germans got fucked.

Also, I suggest you make a havelock kepi for the FFL, instead of the blanc kepi... It' more accurate, as it was more used. FFL guy on the right in above spoilered picture...

When getting the custom maps done, be sure to have some good open and urban maps for big line battles, as well as a few good conquest and siege ones.

Late 19th century mods with conquest and siege go hand in hand in my opinion!

It's either 1er Régiment de la Légion Etrangère (1st Regiment of the Foreign Legion) or 1er Régiment étranger (1st Foreign Regiment).

I also have a question, I saw the senior officer/junior officer idea and I really like it! Perhaps you should add a complete rank system! Private - Colonel. It would be interesting and cool for regiments.

There is a limit of 5 subclasses within one regiment. So you don't have much options, to realise such a complex rank system.

Just a little note from myself, I will be continuing this mod next year, unfortunately kinda late 2016. (I know right.) I will be doing bits here and there. I will have a lot of time on my hands once I join the British army.

Hello everyone,

I'd hate to say this, but you probably already know the situation, I would have continued this mod, however, due to my laptop going FUBAR I've lost all the files and everything. At the end of this year I may have time, I have selection with the British Army in a month and looking to start training for the Light Cavalry very soon. Afterwards, I may revive this mod, and continue to play this amazing game!
