2nd Connecticut Sharpshooters

The 2nd Connecticut is a regiment in the Union Army, 1st Division, 2nd "Eagle" Brigade, with the role of light infantry and sharpshooters. We have one event at Saturday 9pm GMT (4pm EST) with the Union Army.

History

The 2nd Connecticut was mustered in 1862 with an approximate of 815 enlisted and
L.W. Wessels as colonel. Wessels resigned from his position as colonel while the regiment was
still in training and the lieutenant colonel, Elisha S. Kellog, was promoted to colonel.

The regiments first battle was the battle of Cold Harbor, where 323 men died, including Kellog.
Ranald S. Mackenzie was promoted to colonel and the 2nd Connecticut participated
in the Appamatox Campaign, including the siege and 3rd battle of Petersburg.

Legio VII Claudia Victrix is a new legion based in both North America and Europe and we are currently recruiting. Leave an application if you want to join (you can find it at the bottom of the post).

Legion is disbanded

Legio VII Claudia was raised alongside VIII and IX in Hispania by Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus in 65 BC. In 58 BC the 7th legion was moved to the leadership of Gaius Julius Caesar and marched with him during the entire Gallic War. Legio VII Claudia was also participating in the Venetic campaign in 56 BC. They participated in Julius Caesar's invasions of Britain and played a big role in the battle of Pharsalus in 48 BC. The legion continued to exist until the late 4th century, where they were stationed in the middle Danube.
