Introduction
The European Infantry Cup is a standard 2 stage tournament with the first stage being a Round Robin Group Stage followed by a back to back Play Offs with an upper and a lower bracket. There are 2 groups, A and B consisting of up to but not limited to 10 regiments each. The top 5 placing regiments of each group will proceed to the single elimination knockout-Upper Bracket competing for first and second place.
Group Stages: Best of 10 rounds.
Play Offs: Best of 10 rounds. In the event of a 5-5 draw, the match will continue as a Best of 4 rounds, continuously, with a side swap every 2 rounds until a regiment reaches 3 rounds.
There can be no draws in a knockout.

1. 2 Groups of upto (but not limited to) 8 regiments. 4 Advance to main bracket. Instead of the 4+ groups of 4 like before.
2. Officer Rambo Rule and Officer aim rules have had some tweaks.

It's neither my job nor my concern. As long as you prevent double-reggers according to EIC rules, between EIC-competing regiments then it's fine in 2019 - keep the others. Most regiments I know allow it anyway so.

Announcement: Sign ups & Start Dates etc.
So ladies, just like that we have reached 20 accepted regiments for EIC. Thats phenomenal seeing as though most people were doubtful if we would even get 12 or 16.
We are still waiting on 1 or 2 sign ups from a couple of regiments who are unsure, but we will go ahead and start preparations and seeding the groups. Myself, Midnight and Gi will find some time this week to go over all of the logistics.
Please expect a start date around start to mid-April. Exact dates etc. to follow later this week.
A mid April start brings us in line with the summer break to end the tournament (June). Then of course there will be more to follow from EIC after the player break this summer.
If any regiments would still like to participate, do not hesitate to sign up. Every 2 regiments we get, we will add to the groups and expand the number of regiments that advance to the play offs as needed. One thing for all regiments, we understand that obviously as NW gets late into its tenure, its hard to sustain 15 people for the smaller regiments. This is fine, but please do keep your opponents notified of this before events. Just to avoid them having to keep large amounts of people in spec at a time.

Well, yes that is kind of the job of a host of multiple tournaments and both hosts being reg leaders gives us more perspective than the latter.
Its a round robin with 5 regiments advancing from both leagues. Plenty of opportunity for all regiments to reach play offs. There is no way that is not mindblowingly autistic to seed it otherwise.

What about that: If both regiments prefer to play a gf instead of a 1vs1 versus each other they can decide. If just one regiment wants to play GF and the other one prefers 1vs1, then they play a 1vs1, as its still a 1vs1 tournament

You all signed up knowing full well that this was the format and it will not be changed now.
The groups are larger than we expected but you can't really blame the organisers for that. I thought about 3 groups but we don't have enough sign ups for that yet. We would need at least another 5.
Also Lukas, I'm not going to explain why that is a very stupid idea but I'm afraid it is. Not just this tourney just literally any. Don't mix and match formats.
You all signed up with the knowledge that you were going to play at least 8 matches, it said it on the OP. all we have done is add 2 matches ontop of that. Which actually allows us to be more flexible.
REMEMBER: You are not limited to playing 1 match a week. Organise as many as you like but obviously you can't force the other regiment to push their matches forward. We just require 1 match to be played at least eveyy week.

Because linebattles are always cancer, there will be thousands of issues with referees, some regiments will camp, there will be 1.5 hour battles or more stupid shit like that.
At least chriseh can ask regiment leaders about what they want or he can make groups smaller. Else no one would want to play 14 lbs in these conditions.

I don't like 1v1's myself. Most of the 15th doesn't like 1v1's. But we signed up to a line tournament. So, no we don't want to do groupfights instead. We have RGL/RGT for that. We want 14 lbs. :)

The whole point of EIC is to be accessible to all regiments of even mid or low skill level. That has been the sole purpose since Season 2. Season 1 was just a replacement for NWL as it died. The target regiments that the EIC is based on, I asked their leaders and literally almost all of them said "Whats the point in a GF tournament if we already know who will win". Thats why its a 1v1 tournament. Plus RGL may have been retarded but the last 1v1 tournament was EIC Season 2 not even SPRING LAST YEAR. 1 year ago.

No more posts unless actually constructive to the current format. There will be plenty of time to host GF tournaments later. If you think back to last year I announced a GF edition to EIC however RGL was also announced afterwards so I left it to them, even if it didn't go that well. So obviously something will happen along those lines as well. But thats not what the community needs at the moment.

MarxeiL sent me a message about a week ago saying that 17th might be merging back into 96y. So we have been trying to get an answer from him for a few days so that we could move 56e in for them. When Gi messaged him yesterday, this is how it went:

We are taking alot of time out of what little we have after working all day 5 days a week to host this tournament for everyone, so if a regiment has no interest they will be replaced with one that does. In fairness I was due to referee the match, but with the whitelists messed up and only one server working it had to be done on the 18e serve as to wait would have taken too long. So it wasn't at all intentional just unlucky. :)

Quick note for the 98th as it happened several times that they complained about gaps during the shooting the rules state that Reload -> Fix -> Shoot.
In every situation you guys complained the 59th fixed there gaps after each reload, so you cant complain that if you shoot 2 guys in the middle that they have to fix straight away when they were still reloading and straight after they finished that they fixed the gap.

Its not like we are the only ones who mistakenly played with people that were to late added to our roster, why they not get 10-0 score? At the end of the day Skitty, the reason why I said you can no longer appeal, is because as a standard practice by the EIC organisers, you immediately forfeit a match when you breach the roster rules.
Ask Von Bergen, Kaide any reg leader that I have spoken to about their rosters, I have made no exceptions for these roster rules and I will not make one for the TRL either. I told you I will watch the videos etc. and speak to Lightning if I need to so it should be just left at that. As no matter what the score is not changing anymore.
It was the same last season and its the same in this one. Do not blame organisers just because you refused to read the most important rule.

There was also a random player who joined the server and attempted at teamkilling the 98th at the start of the round but he got banned instantly, then came under a fake 98th tag and got banned again (but only temporarily this time). Any regiment below 8 matches completed by this date should start playing 2 matches a week to catch up. We operate on a deadline that will be enforced strictly unless there is a good reason for postponing matches.
There will be a 1 week break in between the group stage-knockout stage so if need be any matches that had to be posponed can be done then, however the final stage should begin by latest June 17th. Any matches not played by then will be forfeited. Over 3 months is plenty of time. With 10 matches to play, this gives 3 weeks extra for all regiments.

The match was without a single incident, excellent behaviour from both sides. A few rounds came pretty close, one, in particular, was a bit long, but quite funny. Thanks to the 96y for allowing duels in a few occasions.

The match was without incidence for the most part, except for some small gaps fixing issues in a few occasions. Behaviour from both regiments was pretty good up to the 8th round where things went a bit out of control for a moment but also went back to 'normal' pretty quickly. The match itself was as tense as the score can suggest it, excellent shooting from the 59th and a very decent melee too, allowing them to give one hell of a fight to the 15thYR.

The match was without any major incident. It was a high-stake match from both regiments so there was a bit of frustration but overall really good behaviour from both sides. A few rounds came pretty close and the score reflects the intensity of the match.

Some minors FoL/RoL but nothing really important, both teams showed excellent behaviour during the match. As per usual, a few rounds came pretty close but it's fair to say the 96y was the better regiment tonight. It's also worth noting that due to M&B servers having shown issues during the day, it was a struggle for both regiments to connect, delaying the match for a good 30 minutes and causing lots of people (mostly on the 2eFusGre side) to have a constant high ping or simply not being able to show up on the server.
Well-played to both regiments, if any of the leaders wish to appeal a certain round, I will keep the recording files of the match for one week.

The match was played in a light-hearted way, the first half was serious, the second one a bit less, but overall good behaviour from both regiments. Sorry for posting that one super late, had to jump into the 7v7 tournament straight after the 1v1. That was pretty much the French derby you could expect, tense and interesting. The 2eFusGre melee made the difference in the end but props to Peponi and Toxic for clutching two amazing rounds for the 45e. There were no rule breaks in the match and an excellent behaviour was shown on both side, however, there also was a legitimate question of a FoL I slayed against the 45e in the second round which looked really close. Looking back at the recording, I zoomed back on the 45e's line to get a better angle and was under the illusion they broke the line for melee before the shot, but they actually didn't.
My apologies for that mistake. It's hard to say wherever or not it impacted the round as the 2eFusGre won it by quite a consequent margin but I will leave it up to Syrcrim to appeal that round for the 45e and will provide the evidence if required.

You see this is the thing, I will pick up matches if I am free. but normally I am even willing to drop 18e events etc. If needed. If not, ask most leaders I will help you find one.
The problem isn't so much people asking, its just for example on a Sunday I get 10+ messages regularly. I can't deal with all that on my own and finding that many reffs is impossible on that day.
This is why I just ask for Leaders to do a little forward thinking it helps the system so much.
Also Tardet offers his 'services' up for a living so he doesn't mind doing all this work ::)

Also since you are not online on steam Chriseh and due to the EIC servers not being visible for most of us, I agreed on letting the 92nd vs Nr13 being played on the 92nd Server, since both regiments are fine with it. well.. i have respect for him and his clan but i got no respect for his judgement in "this" match. 2ndHess did more gaps and rule-breaking than us but they only get warnings for gaps in 10 rounds but we? we got like 4-5 slays and a "criticism" in forum. that's what made me laugh.

For the record, I have referred 2-3 matches with the 98th and didn't notice many rule breaks, be it gaps fixing or anything else. Not putting Aggo's judgement in question, I wasn't there and I trust him on that but just saying the 98th can obey the rules perfectly and that there have been examples in the past.

yeah we did have problems with gaps as well. no one claims that we didn't. but from my perspective you guys also had lots of problems fixing your gaps. often times you just had a large gap in the middle of your line that no one would fix.
anyways the game is over, it was fun to play, minor rulebreaks didn't throw any of us off (and didn't change the outcome I'd say). GG WP

I thought about finishing the play offs at least but due to our current circumstances I felt that it would be more fair for another regiment to take that place.

So uhm I aint online on steam atm but I am wondering the 17th is the last date matches can be played in the group stages, I have tried now several times to contact Wolffe (92nd leader) to arrange for our EIC match but the only replies I got were along the line of, we dont wanna lose 10-0 and will play you when we have played our other matches to see if we even care to face against you guys otherwise we might as well give you a 10-0 win.
My latest message to him was like we should do our EIC match in the hopes of arranging this to happen.
His reply was only ''Yea we probably should'' with nothing else added to it and then going afk again...
I did inform Gi about this but I am now wondering what the right course of action should be here?

Each match that is not completed by the 17th will be dealt with case by case.
So for example if we check steam logs etc. And we agree that 92nd did not make much effort at all to arrange the match the default will go to the 17e.
Just an example it hasn't happened yet.

Well, we can handle losing we did that 4 times in a row without problem, but we just see we can't do anything in EIC here, since our winnable matches are given 10 - 0 to us or disbanded before we played against them
EDIT: I don't need to actually explain myself, we made our decision based on what is best for our regiment and the current staff

From my opinion from a TO standpoint I obviously don't agree.
But at the end of the day its your decision for your regiment so if thats the choice you have made then so be it.

I have a question regarding the 33rd/59th match. The regiments agreed mutually that we would be unable to play this week, but would both be happy to play the match next week if allowed. In this case it isn't one regiment not trying to sort the match out, both regiments have tried and willing to work round a solution if possible.

Sorry for the delay in the start to playoffs. Unfortunately I have been on the move for work for the last week and haven't had a chance to get it all sorted out. Ask the 18e I've been dead :(

Apologizes for the double post but due to Chriseh seeming to be relatively busy as of late, I figured out I could help with updating the brackets fully and deal with the last matches. It's still Chriseh and GI's decisions as hosts of the tournament to decide when the playoffs start, the decisional power is not in my hands, just trying to help at the best I can.
- The following regiments - 13thRS, TRL, 2ndSofia, 18e, 88th, 3pp, 45thTR, K-KA, 71e - have dropped out from the competition (aka didn't complete the group stage) and therefore have been given a 0-10 loss against each of their opponents still active in the EIC. The score between each of the aforementioned dropped regiments has been adjusted to a 0-0 draw.
- The 33rd and 59th have agreed on a 5-5 draw for their match as neither of them could get it played this week. In order to avoid further delay, Chriseh has allowed such a result as both regiments will make it the playoffs anyways and neither of the 59th or 33rd is gaining an unfair advantage as this draw doesn't affect the playoffs seedings.
- The last match of the EIC is left to be played between the 32ndBL and the 92nd. Even in the scenario of a 10-0 win for the 92nd, they would still be beaten by the Nr13 for the last playoff spot, due to a weaker point difference. As the result of this match has therefore no direct influence on the rest of the competition, that neither of the 92nd or 32nd seems to have organized this match yet, and that the playoffs stage cannot be displayed without all the matches being completed, I took the liberty to put that match as a 0-0 draw. If the 32ndBL and the 92nd still want to play that match for bragging rights, pretty sure Chriseh can revert the whole process and edit the score, but as I said, in the grand scheme of things it does not really matter.

Please remember that these brackets are not final. I strongly encourage every regiment leaders to check their results to make sure a mistake hasn't slipped in and could affect the seedings for playoffs. GI and Chriseh will have to take it from here and confirm everything.
Edit: It's pretty obvious the current playoffs bracket don't make any sense, I don't know what's wrong, matches are automatically seeded once the groupstage matches are all completed so just wait for Chriseh to see this and fix everything.

The brackets will be finalised on monday 24/6/2019 and upon the updated brackets being posted, playoffs shall begin. The brackets shall be editted as to ensure both balance, and to ensure that the majority of regiments play other regiments whom they haven't played before.

For most of my guys this was their first taste of the competitive scene and it did not disappoint.

15th Yorkshire Regiment of Foot 8-2 33rd Regiment of Foot
The match was without any particular incident nor rulebreaks. Both regiments behaved well and the banter in chat was friendly. Despite a couple of close rounds, the score reflects a clear dominance from the 15thYR, especially in the melee phases, but the 33rd fought nails and tooth, making it an enjoyable encounter.
If any of the leaders wish to appeal a certain round, I will keep the recording files for a week.

Excellent quarterfinal match. Good discipline overall, few rulebreaks. The 56e had the 96y on their toes for the entirety of the first half but a combination of excellent leadership, melee and shooting gave the 96y the clear upper-hand during the second side, granting them a much-deserved victory.

I agree it taking longer than we originally wanted is annoying, but at the end of the day there are only a few matches left and it is the summer after all. We didn't expect it to be over before August honestly.
At the end of the day, the longer the regiments take to complete their matches, the worse it is for them as there are no more roster updates/moves between regiments. So if they take longer they risk losing the strength they entered the playoffs with.
If we aren't onto the next stage by week 2 of August I will set deadlines for regiments to hurry this along.

I think you miss understand and you are blowing it way out of proportion. My wording I guess could have been better but I wasn't necessarily going for a A* essay.

This is just assumption. Once the 2 semi final matches are completed within the next week, then the final will take place within a week after. Not September. Not fucking halloween, 2 weeks from now. BING 2ND WEEK OF AUGUST.

Irrelevant. This tournament and 3 matches left do not have any affect on tournaments up and coming unless there is a league outstanding that I haven't heard of, which is very rare. I am already aware of the tournament that Kaide wants to host once this is completed but as 59th are a participant in EIC anyway it doesn't really matter. Is there anything stopping people from putting up a thread and taking sign ups? No. Only their own frame of mind.
If your reason for posting this is because you are afraid it will overlap with your tournament on the 24th, thats very far fetched considering you could have looked above your post and saw the scheduling for both matches outstanding and frankly you could have messaged me on steam instead of posting this on FSE.
Anyways to summarise, people had messaged me asking about deadlines for the Semi finals and I told them first week of August. As I previously said we expected the tournament itself to be finished by the second week anyway.

I will try to see if I can dig down the thread and find mentions which suggest the contrary, but assuming you are right, then thinking it's normal to have a competition lasting for four months is showing some poor organizing skills. While it's true that the EIC is nowhere near what happened last RGL, I don't think you are the best person to call out Phoenix for his lack of involvement, considering how careless you have been in the last stage of this EIC. Credits to you if you don't intend to use you being busy as an excuse, but the point still stands.

At first when I answered your first post, I was slightly annoyed that you were taking things so carelessly and acted like everything was fine but I didn't mean to make it that big of an argument. But by the content of your answers, it seems clear that you just gonna continue with your behavior of 'I have done nothing wrong' like in past tournaments you hosted. Of course. Nobody is denying it could have been done sooner. The tournament could have been done in 3 months but if regiments agree with eachother to play in a timeframe and it doesn't cause an issue for the tournament at this stage then honestly I do not see the problem, other than your afformentioned point about it becoming an issue for future tournaments.

Where are you getting this from I am confused? Like obviously I have been involved in the tournament, but what has there been that requires posts on the FSE page? The schedules are up, servers are up, everything is ready... Could I have been better? Probably. But I still feel you are making a bigger thing out of it than it actually is. Nobody has mentioned this before to me. Any reg leaders I have spoken to have been with regards to scheduling and once thats done my involvement is limited...because there is nothing to do outside of helping arrange a referee?

Well that depends on the format. Which in essence is probably a little too long however we wanted to give it a test run this season. We can't change it mid season so...heign sight 20/20 I guess.
When you think of the fact that there are 10 matchweeks alone for the group stage, then yes its going to take at least 3-4 months. Could we have done it in 3? No. Unless we rushed regiments to play multiple matches a week which wouldn't fly for alot of them.

I completely agree with you 100%. However I don't understand where this is really a fault of mine though... When Kaide brought it up to me on steam I straight up asked him not too as the community would need a post-summer break after the very long EIC season. Although I guess it is a fault of us in terms of the format but everyone signed up knowing what it was going to be. Perhaps we could have split a 3rd group though, however considering 6 teams dropped out I think we made the right choice.

At first when I answered your first post, I was slightly annoyed that you were taking things so carelessly and acted like everything was fine but I didn't mean to make it that big of an argument.
I mean.. I'm not sure if its a language breakdown or what but I just genuinly didn't understand what you were trying to get at, now I understand a little more.
But by the content of your answers, it seems clear that you just gonna continue with your behavior of 'I have done nothing wrong' like in past tournaments you hosted.
Well this is a little annoying to read honestly. Multiple times I have apologised for the issues with last season yet it still doesn't seem to satisfy people. Then people wonder why I have developed a 'who fucking cares' attitude. I guess it is the internet after all...

At the end of the day what you want Tardet is a better community and tournament and nobody can ever fault you for this. Like I said in my post if people don't critisize where we go wrong as hosts then what the fuck is the point? It becomes the blind leading the blind.
If anyone else does have an issue or complaint about how the tournament was/is being played out, it can go here or on the EIC Steam Group Chat, its what they are for. But its just appreciated by the hosts if we could discuss it on steam first as well. but at the end of the day we can't stop you. Would rather people voice their opinion (unless your name is Gatts) than not at all.

To be fair, Kaide and I were pretty much aware that we'd be waiting for the EIC to finish, and as some people had suggested waiting until September already it's not really an issue for us. Also we were taking ages to get our 15thYR match sorted. That's to be expected at this time of year though with the Summer coming around and people going on holiday though + exams/work, so I don't think it's been too bad. I mean the last version of the NWCL took ages to finish as well, and the NWL was famed for taking ages. Also as you hint Price, the reason we didn't put the sign up sheet was mainly due to regiments telling us not to due to the need for a break post EIC, which is fair enough.
The other dilemma with regards to how many regiments to sign up is an interesting one. The problem is there's no incentive really to keep playing if you are getting smashed 10-0 every week so unlike sporting tournaments where this format is used, it's easier for regiments to lose interest and tbh I don't blame them. Fair play to the regiments who did play all or most of their matches even if they lost many of them.
The three group NWL was notorious for being a bit of a regimental graveyard, particularly group 3. So three groups is by no means a solution. Then do you start excluding regiments because you 'think' they might disband? The problem with that is a number of the regiments that have disbanded or left are those which are longstanding i.e. KKA, 17e, 18e, 88th etc so that theory doesn't work and if you have a smaller number of regiments to begin with, every disband is going to hurt the tournament more. In fairness Price also tried to at least give some benchmark with the 15 man roster, but the state of the game is such that people lose interest and leave, and there aren't the same numbers of new players any more to keep the regiments going. If regiments sign up and disband, there fundamentally isn't much Price (or indeed, the regiments) can do.
On the whole I think the tournament has been pretty good fun (and for the most part drama free,) and I've been in, and refereed some really good matches. So in terms of NW tournaments I'd call it a success already tbh.

In my opinion the best thing to do is to go back to the league system, keeping each group small (5-6 regiments), ensuring 1 match per week is played (with the default day to play being Sunday) with the punishment for not playing being either a draw if both sides are to blame, or a free win to the non offending team.
I don't mind elimination style tournaments, but I'd rather play a league format with high level/equal matches each week to increase enjoyment for the participants.
Competitions go on far too long to actually maintain any form of excitement or enjoyment around them, and so the emphasis now should be not only implementing short time scale tournaments, but also creating a level playing field for regiments that are not quite as gifted (multiple leagues, losers brackets etc).
I rushed this as I'm on the way to work but if anyone wants me to expand on any points I will happily do so. What I've written here is nothing to do with me being a co host of EIC and is simply my view on regimental tournaments currently.

As Chriseh said himself, the formats used with two big groups for this EIC was a bad idea, for the reasons you mentioned. Fair enough, they tried something new but it's what caused a lot of the delay and it was quite easy to see it coming.
I agree the tournament was fun and interesting Krytenn however there are several aspects which I believe could have been handled better. I try to set high standards for the competitions I host and administrate so I tend to expect the same of those I play in, and I believe that's part of the reason why you and Kaide offered me to help you guys with your upcoming league.

Problem is when we originally pitched this format there was only supposed to be 16 regiments... I have no idea why we didnt change it to add a 3rd group making it much quicker.
Well... too late now. What's key is to acknowledge the mistakes so it doesn't happen again and we can continue to improve. Rules seemed to be a lot better this season so that's a good thing at least.

About the skill, 2eFusGre was better on melee, i'm sorry but you go away of the fight because you know we were better, you run all the map, and the melee was on all the map... i never see that...

Pls, don't be such a hypocrite. Starting from the first round 2eFusGren members were broking the line in melee. If you were better than us, why you just didn't get in line to play together? All your "tactic" were to give chance to your best players to duel and u always were splitting the line to do it. I personaly asked 96y boys to play together and to forget about
best french duelists s-key athletes. And we won last two rounds without any problems,while your players were jerking on all the map sides. And you are complaining about camping, but dont you tried to do the same, on each side of map? Shooting from spawn, headgliching is normal for you? Only the reason why you sometimes tried to get closer is that you saw we are better at shooting. And even at close range you played dirty, with a lot of FoLs, rambo, without being punished by ref and we dont cry about it. It was the semifinal match and both regiments wanted to win, thats why it was a little bit dirty, but from both sides and less fun, as it could be. Anyway, good luck to you, it was a close game, but today we were better)).Last thing i want to say dont forget that it's just a game and you dont have to take it so seriously,especially when yoda was jocking with you. I understand that my regiment is salty for losing in the semifinals but the 96y was smarter, they used a cancer tactic (it's true ^^) but it's not forbidden, in addition to that you have to remember that they play on Fr servers and that therefore they have a disadvantage.
And for those who would rage for this cancer tactic, dont forget that this game is a cancer game where generally the winner is the one who best applies these cancer tactics (duel, gf or LB)

There is no denying that the 96y is the only regiment in the EIC playing that way and I have been a referee in enough of their matches to know they use these tactics of delaying the melee / running away to such an extent, only when they have to secure the win. Due to them playing that way, most regiments which simply cannot outrun them with a superior melee stack and team play or a superior shooting, are forced to engage in similar 'tactics' to stand a chance. The 2eFusGre was fully aware of it before coming in the semi-final match and we simply failed at adapting successfully. We won some rounds but eventually, it wasn't enough as the 96y are used to doing it way more than us and anything we could come up with, prepared or thought on the spot, was simply not enough to counter that.
As for the camp. The 2eFusGre came to the 96y in the first two rounds and engaged the combat on the 96y's side of the map, while the 96y had the advantage of the hill and stayed on there. Then, as we understood the 96y wouldn't come to us and wouldn't leave their hill even if we made the effort to approach them, we camped the remaining three rounds of that half at our spawn, to force the 96y in a fight at the middle of that map. During these three rounds, we attempted each time a single volley from across the map while the 96y line was moving from their spawn to the hill on their side and got very poor results from it (nothing more than a few hits in all three attempts). Needless to say that as soon as the 96y got the chance, they headed back to their hill after being forced to fight in the middle, as per allowed by the rules. On the second half, we simply came to the 96y side in each of the remaining five rounds in a desperate attempt at engaging a proper melee. From memory, not once did the 96y came to meet us, they simply waited for us at their spawn until they were forced to engage in close/mid-range manoeuvering by us getting closer.
As for the server, we were not responsible for the EIC servers being down and to be honest, even if we had been playing on an EIC server, the 96y would have been at a disadvantage ping wise anyways, like they have been for the rest of the competition. By accepting to play in a league hosted by western Europeans, with mostly western European regiments partaking in it, regiments like the 96y know they won't get to play in the fairest condition, so bringing this now as an attempt to help your case won't do it for me. Dams offered the IVe Corps as a back-up solution on that night, as he was an admin on it, and both regiments agreed to it. The 96y could have refused it and ask for another server to be found with more equal pings, but they were also aware of the possible complications/delays it could have created. That doesn't take anything away from the fact that the 96y won that match with most of their players around 70/80 pings while the 2eFusGre players had around 20/25.
On the other side, it's also fair to mention that on several occasions, the 2eFusGre could have been warned for not observing the gaps rules and this while moving out, and a couple of FoL could have been slain and were not. Both regiments did some minor rule breaks, as it is the case in most LBs, but the 2eFusGre was the one which benefited the most from Dam's flexible referring, undoubtedly. It's also true that while both regiments used a handful of new additions in the knockout stage, the 2eFusGre reinforcement seemed way more powerful with Drake, Tiberias, Bessières and myself. So I can get behind people saying that the 2eFusGre benefited from this addition rule way more than the 96y did.
For these reasons, I am not mad at the 96y for winning that match and I wish them good luck in their grand-final. I know for a fact that unless GI chokes another final, the 15thYR won't need to adapt to the 96y playstyle to beat them simply because they are a better regiment in every sense of the term and I hope this will reflect in their confrontation. I just want our beloved CIS friends to understand that while their uncharacteristic playstyle got them so far, it makes every match where they are facing a tough opposition extremely boring and unpleasant. If you do take pleasure from winning by playing that way, then lucky you.

On a serious note, I expect no less from the 96y they no their weakness they are not going to win a straight melee confrontation even with advantage of 1-3 men. So the play it smart, they run away they hide. They camp until the opponent moves close to get more shots off. To gain an advantage. All I can say is fair play. They are a CIS regiment with high pings they can't beat even average regiments in melee they need every advantage they can get. It's cancer to play against them and down right boring. BUT a truly superior regiment will beat them (15thYR). I'm sorry about what happened to the 2e, I was meant to play for you guys but was not allowed by Price thanks to the EIC rules (lol). But even so it was a close match and if the 2e held their ground a little longer and camped and played the melee perfectly they would have won. Gratz to 96y for 2nd place. ;D

From memory, not once did the 96y came to meet us, they simply waited for us at their spawn until they were forced to engage in close/mid-range manoeuvering by us getting closer.
As for the server, we were not responsible for the EIC servers being down and to be honest, even if we had been playing on an EIC server, the 96y would have been at a disadvantage ping wise anyways, like they have been for the rest of the competition. By accepting to play in a league hosted by western Europeans, with mostly western European regiments partaking in it, regiments like the 96y know they won't get to play in the fairest condition, so bringing this now as an attempt to help your case won't do it for me. Dams offered the IVe Corps as a back-up solution on that night, as he was an admin on it, and both regiments agreed to it. The 96y could have refused it and ask for another server to be found with more equal pings, but they were also aware of the possible complications/delays it could have created. That doesn't take anything away from the fact that the 96y won that match with most of their players around 70/80 pings while the 2eFusGre players had around 20/25.
On the other side, it's also fair to mention that on several occasions, the 2eFusGre could have been warned for not observing the gaps rules and this while moving out, and a couple of FoL could have been slain and were not. Both regiments did some minor rule breaks, as it is the case in most LBs, but the 2eFusGre was the one which benefited the most from Dam's flexible referring, undoubtedly. It's also true that while both regiments used a handful of new additions in the knockout stage, the 2eFusGre reinforcement seemed way more powerful with Drake, Tiberias, Bessières and myself. So I can get behind people saying that the 2eFusGre benefited from this addition rule way more than the 96y did.
For these reasons, I am not mad at the 96y for winning that match and I wish them good luck in their grand-final. I know for a fact that unless GI chokes another final, the 15thYR won't need to adapt to the 96y playstyle to beat them simply because they are a better regiment in every sense of the term and I hope this will reflect in their confrontation. I just want our beloved CIS friends to understand that while their uncharacteristic playstyle got them so far, it makes every match where they are facing a tough opposition extremely boring and unpleasant. If you do take pleasure from winning by playing that way, then lucky you.

You played to win, don't argue over formalities. Even you know how stupid you play. I lead a 1v1 vs you recently and every melee your entire regiment ran away to try and split our line up and gain 2v1s. Even running to the edge of the map. It's pathetic but it works. Fair play. But just try and beat 15thYR with that tactic they survived the one hour round after all, they have patience.

We played the group stage and the first playoff match and no one complained, is it strange?
They started running away from us and luring us to a duel, but this is not a duel tournament. And we were forced to play like that. Just to judge us you should at least SEE this match with your own eyes and not listen to the stories of others

Semi gods are not supposed to be affected by mortal concerns such as the feeling of pressure upon failure.
I didn't mean to stir a drama with my post by the way, I saw a lot of very one sided messages from both the 96y and the 2eFusGre and thought a more neutral opinion would be welcomed. At the end of the day, 96y won by the rules and that's what matters. It's also fair to mention they had a way better shooting than us at close and mid range and it obviously impacted the final result.
One last time, good luck to both regiments in the grand final.

I understand that my regiment is salty for losing in the semifinals but the 96y was smarter, they used a cancer tactic (it's true ^^) but it's not forbidden, in addition to that you have to remember that they play on Fr servers and that therefore they have a disadvantage.
And for those who would rage for this cancer tactic, dont forget that this game is a cancer game where generally the winner is the one who best applies these cancer tactics (duel, gf or LB)

Thanks man. Everyone wrote us off which surprised me. In our group match against the 15YR we lost 6-4. But two rounds were lost to duels. So the writing was on the wall for a potential upset. I mean we came back from Holdfast to win the EIC.
I mean, our regiment is 6 years old and we have a fantastic community (one of the few regs on discord). We have a strong team and great players like Hursty, Krytenn, Maurice, Hypno, Posh, Fulgent and many other great 59th heroes. So it shouldn't be too disappointing to lose against us. So I find it a shame that people like yourself Kore still harbour a resentment against the 59th. :'(
The 59th has always had a strong leadership team. Playing alongside Krytenn and Hursty is a blessing, they're really great officers.

EIC Season 3 Conclusion
Congrats to 96y for pulling out a first place victory. Well done to 59th for pulling through despite being the underdogs. The final was a pretty intense back and forth. 59th took the first half 3-2 however 96y brought it back in the 2nd half to a 5-5 draw. Before pulling out the upset win in a 8-6 win in Overtime! Pretty clean match with few rulebreaks (apart from the officer aims, looking at you CIS team >:()
Addressing the elephant in the room - The Format
So this season went by very clean mostly. However where we really dropped the ball was the format. This can obviously only be on the organisers. We were expecting a maximum of around 16 sign ups for this season. However we were taken completely by surprise when we had 25! Now where we screwed up was instead of adding these extra regiments into a 3rd group at the last minute, we carried on adding them to the main 2 groups. This extended the tournament time by an extra 3-4 weeks total. So intead of an 9 week finish on the tournament it ended up taking almost 13 weeks. Now as any tournament organiser or even regimental leader can tell you, the NW communities attention span is pretty poor. So we ended up with alot of regiments dropping out unfortunately, most 6-8 weeks in. My own regiment included.
This is a lesson that has been learned.

Its finally here. EIC Season 4 the GF edition will be starting towards the end of this year. I am also very happy to welcome Tardet to the Host/Admin team. Tardet has been posting ideas for new tournaments for the last few weeks with some very positive feedback, so it felt natural to bring him into the team to make sure we can deliver the best season possible.
The sign ups & start date of the tournament will be announced during the final week or two of Kaide's NWCL 1v1 tournament. We will try to leave some downtime to let regiments have a break but we will of course as always check with reg leaders before making the announcement.
