MRGL S1 | Overview & Applications - Brackets & Previews Posted
« on: September 20, 2020, 01:58:42 pm »

Welcome to the Mini-Regimental Groupfighting League Season 1! Following in the footsteps of the previous RGL and RGT, the MRGL presents the Napoleonic Wars community with the opportunity to play beloved groupfights with their regiment in a somewhat more competitive way, with having only best regiments taking part in it and in an absolutely different format. Regimental leaders will need to arrange matches in the following order and compete for the first place. The tournament format will have 8 or 10 regiments, groups stage brackets, and then playoffs with the bronze match.

On this thread, you will find all the required information about this season of the MRGL accompanied by a sign-up form which you can already fill-up.

Matches will be starting from the 6th of November 2020.

15th

Leaders: Gi & Irish
Key players - Python, Elsse, Xaartil, Mike and Gull

Throughout the years, the 15thYR has built such a strong and rich history on Napoleonic Wars that it would be impossible to do it justice in such a short showcase. We will, therefore, have to limit ourselves in some way but it's probably worth mentioning that since it's creation in 2014, the 15thYR has very quickly managed to establish itself as a strong contender for titles. Compared to many other regiments, its leadership has barely shifted throughout the years (except for when Falk took his leave) which is definitely a reason explaining the high success the 15thYR met in many competitions they entered, almost always managing to achieve a podium. In the most recent years of NW, the 15thYR went from a top competitive regiment to the undisputed champion of the regimental scene, racking-up trophies after trophies while continuing to increase its impressive durability. In this MRGL season, the 15thYR will be defending their title of the 'Best Current Regiment'. Undoubtedly the 15thYR still looks like one of the biggest favourites in the tournament. The story of the 15thYR is not like one many other. They had their share of ups and downs, disbanded in 2017 only to be reformed at the end of that year and from that point, Gi's influence over the regiment really started to bear fruits. Though it may have looked, from an outside perspective, like he was leading the regiment with an iron first, his genius probably resided in creating a friendly, relaxed atmosphere which became 15thYR's trademark over the years. Gi's regiment does not only hold the biggest longevity as NW competitive structure, it also possesses an incredibly old core of players who stayed within the same regiment for years, most certainly because they knew they would never be able to find that so particular atmosphere somewhere else. That's what made the 15thYR the powerful regiment we got to know. Though its roster never appeared like the most stacked with top players, the cohesion of its players has rarely ever been matched, especially in the most recent years.

There is something with the 15thYR that you will never truly be able to explain or understand, an aura that only its players can truly comprehend, a performance that only they can replicate, tournaments after tournaments, with that very same group of people. This is how they built this outstanding legacy and how it still reigns supreme to this day. A legacy which they will be looking to extend by the end of this tournament.

45thN

Leaders: Nova & Maskman
Key players - Lonedoge, Troister, Floris, Jerome and Snikkel

Despite its relatively recent venture into the competitive scene, the 45th Nottinghamshire Regiment of Foot is by no means a new regiment. Boasting a several years strong history, the regiment finds itself well-established within the casual community. Initially formed by Vegetarian under the tag 45th, the casual lights regiment suffered multiple coups and breakups with a cadre of different minded leaders running the show. While several companies were formed and subsequently disbanded during this period, the 45th eventually rebranded to the 45thN under now colonel Nova’s leadership, finally reaching a level of stability which allowed them to seek new heights. These new heights can be seen in the form of 45thN’s recent competitive endeavours starting November 2019 and with the creation of a third company: the grenadiers, founded by Maskman. Since then, the 45thN have been competing within the competitive scene, taking part in the most recent international tournaments.

In each of these competitions, the 45thN performed very well, beginning to make a name for themselves yet forever keeping in mind that the longevity of their regiment lied not in competitions, but an important sense of community and loyalty towards one another. That is the essence Nova took a year building which the 45thN members will have at heart to carry in this RGL. Each new player is quickly and seamlessly integrated within the community, continuously adding to the regiment’s dynamic. The equilibrium between loyalty, dedication and finally skill represents the core of what the 45thN represents and its continued maintenance as it continues the transition from casual to competitive play, they must not forget this. As it is the first RGL in the 45thN's history, Nova and his men will be looking at going for their first 'major' tournament win.

92nd

Leaders: Wolffe & Stockholm
Key players - Alatriste, R1bazz, Zenon, Steinmann and Gerher

The 92nd is fairly new to the competitive scene but in its couple of years in the competitive side of the scene it has seen fairly great success over several competitions. Its roster bosters plenty of strong players as well as a core of reasonable players who simply teamplay well. Their discipline means their weaker members rarely get struggle in the matches allowing for their stronger players to get the picks where they are needed. The regiment also features a casual side meaning that attendence should never be a problem for them. Their organisation, roster and discipline could factor in taking them to a strong finish in this seasons MRGL.

In the majority of recent tournaments the 92nd have performed very well and they'll be looking to continue this good form with a strong finish aiming for a finish within the top 3 places.

Mid Tier

33rd

Leaders: Spoons & Odacao
Key players - Louis, Rune, Barro, Spoons and Alec

The 33rd is one of the longest standing regiments in the NW scene and has always been a regiment which can compete with the top regiments placing well in several tournaments over its long standing years. The leader of the regiment has changed a lot over the years but it's mentality of keeping a balance between both casual and competitive play has not, nor has its morals of rewarding loyalty to the regiment. Over the years the 33rd has often been seen as a dark horse in many events from the early NWL's to the more current RGT's with a roster capable of taking on the majority of the top regiments. Although it may not be the most decorated of regiments the 33rd is certainly not a battle any team should take lightly. With great teamwork from the longer standing members to solid leadership at the helm they are often a force to be reckoned with.

The 33rd has no need to make a name for themselves but they will be looking to place in at least the upper half of this event and potentially cause some upsets.

77y

Leaders: Spooky & Henkka
Key players - Blackbeard, Axiom, Henkka, Rikimaru and Kex

Over the years the 77y is one of the most decorated regiments in NW placing top 3 in every major event at least once. The 77y has always had a core of key players and strengthened further by great leadership over the majority of their years by Gaz. The 77y has again often been one to compete with the top regiments (despite a few low periods) such as knocking both the K-KA and 91st out of the 4th edition of the RGT, the latter being the favourites of the tournament.  Now with Spooky at the helm and some of their key players back in action they'll be looking to try and repeat some of their earlier triumphs in this tournament. Like the 33rd they could be a dark horse to watch.

The 77y has been a rollercoaster of emotions throughout its many years of being another one of the longest standing regiments in NW, like the 33rd this could be a dark horse to watch out for with a few older members returning recently to strengthen their ranks. This could be another regiment to cause some upsets and will certainly be aiming high.

27th

Leaders: John Price & Pluto
Key players - Shadey, Herishey, Faisan, Domi & Golden

The 27th is a much newer regiment in the scene, in-fact the newest in this edition of MRGL. Despite this the 27th is boasting a strong core of players from Price's previous regiment the 18e and was formed to bring together many stragglers from the community who were looking for an older style of regiment which were hard to come by in the NW 2020 atmosphere. The 27th haven't managed to get the results they were searching for upon starting, however are certainly still a regiment that could cause some upsets if not taken seriously in the server.

96y

Leaders: Desant & Flashkodr
Key players - Desant, Twister, Wursti, Stark and Witcher

The 96y is another regiment rich in history over its many years, being one of the only, if not the only CIS based regiment still around. Over its years it has competed in the majority of major tournaments and often placed on the podium. The regiment has a strong core of members that has remained with it over the majority of its years.

Ran by strong, loyal and experienced leadership in recent years the 96y have performed especially well and are another regiment that could be seen as a dark horse in this edition of the MRGL and will be certainly looking to cause some upsets to the favourites.

Underdogs

55th

Leaders: Anthony & Rayleigh
Key players - Zeyden, ExTaZz94, Quenouille, LuLu and Banane

On April 9th 2020 Anthony was a man both possessed and driven to see the formation of the 55th Westmorland Regiment of Foot. With the bold declaration that in three months the 55th would rise to the top of the regimental spectrum. With efficient learning techniques combined with an unmatched mindset of excellence and perfection. With no history of leading a regiment in the European scene and no base of previous members to draw from Anthony went to work using his skills and abilities that were honed and sharpened over the past 5 years in North America. In a short period of time using the connections of Smylie he was able to reel in Higen and David from the 2eFusGre with his bold and passionate declaration. Soon after the 2eFusGre defectors from the 65y led by Rayleigh, Anthony was soon bolstered with the ranks of the 2eFusGre, various North Americans, and 65y players. With single minded vision and dedication Anthony countinlly rallied his members upon the simple yet inspiring ideal of never accepting anything less than your best and fearing complacent as the root of all evil. However, at the end of the RGL the last terrible matchs bring a huge loss of morale and activity in the competitive players and slowly players like Higen, Mech, Attila, Cody and others would fade either into inactivity or from various reasons leave the regiment behind. It was during this time most would expect a newly formed regiment who rode the initial momentum and success from attracting a variety of strong meters to disband once their core melee roster was lost. Anthony during this hard time promoted Quenouille to a position of leadership in the regiment. After taking counsel from Quenouille and Rayleigh, promoting Gassics and Blitzkrieg to Sjt and with the eternal Cpl Hunteh. Those loyal NCO's and CO begin to recruit with the intent to train the weaker members.

Now, just before the MRGL, the 55th is now ready to fight again hoping to compete with even the strongest regiments with a loyal and dedicated set of members.

IVe_45e

Leaders: Syrcrim & Exeter
Key players - Wargy, Centurion, Pirex, Ingram and Baliant

The 45e is one of the few remaining competitive French regiments left. Another extremly long-standing regiment who always has tbe potential to get some good results with their long-standing roster. The regiment has always been a character within the competitive scene, though it's leadership has changed over the years. 45e may not have reached the competitive heights that other French regiments such as 14e or 85e have but the 45e has outlived all of these and is still going strong.

56e

Leaders: Salakien & AggofanCZ
Key players - Honza, Achles, Bagetak, Gunebol and Menty

On the 1st of July 2017, the 56e Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne's came into being as a union of two pre-existing Czech and Slovakian regiments, the 66Pp and the 59e. At the time, Salakien was in charge of both the 66Pp and the 66th (among the 1st Brigade) having helped give the latter a strong reputation within the international competitive community. On the other hand, Aggofan had been leading the 59e, a more casual-oriented regiment, also having been a part of the 66Pp in the past. The common background between the leaders and the core membership of both structures helped to make this fusion possible, with Salakien taking the lead of the 56e as a supervisor (while staying as the active leader of the 66th) and Aggofan and Black both being made Lieutenant Colonels. After some months, Black resigned from his leadership position due to a lack of time. Shortly after, Salakien’s activity eventually decreased for similar reasons and though he continued to provide the 56e with full financial support and remained as it's official supervisor, Aggofan was really the only active member of this ‘triumvirate’ left at the head of the regiment. His steady hand kept charge of the 56e for a year, until the return of Salakien and the resumption of his active leadership position.

Currently several years old, the 56e is now firmly established as a regular competitive regiment while also playing an active role on the casual side of NW. It has attended numerous tournaments in which it has never faltered in putting on a show - such as the last edition of the GLBT - sometimes even punching above its perceived weight, beating theoretically stronger teams. Though the 56e has undoubtedly achieved a respectable position in multiple tournaments, it has fallen short of consistently contending with top EU regiments, but since it wasn't the aim at the groups inception, it never put the regiment's overall cohesion in danger. Salakien had already achieved such feats with the 66th and the idea with the 56e was to offer a more balanced experience to its players, between competitive and casual events. This driving philosophy of giving your best and proudly wearing the 56e colours has been extremely valued by the leadership, hardly ever needing to achieve the best possible results. This is the mindset that the 56e members will hold dear going in this MRGL. The understanding that though the fight might be a hard one, the camaraderie of playing with people who value one another will forever trump the vanity of short-lived tournament glory.

Nr13

Leaders: Faser & Nightwing
Key players - Faser, Connor, Nosswill, DarkCore and Mowoa

The Nr.13 have always been a strong regiment within the German scene with a loyal core of experienced members, lead by Faser. Although they have never won a German tournament they have always been one of the top performing regiments. The Nr.13 often compete in major NW events and easily have the ability to place well and compete with the regiments in this editions MRGL. They will be hoping to manage to qualify for the knockout stages in the first edition of MRGL.

2Lr

Leaders: DarkTemplar & Powerfighter2
Key players - DarkTemplar, felix, scrooge, leibhusar/Olympus and Phoenix

The 2Lr is an old german regiment with a newly found love to the competitive scene under the new leader of the infantry bataillion, DarkTemplar. With the last German Gf league and the RGL the 2Lr set themselves as number 1 in the german community having their peak at the RMT, where they achieved 4th place. For one year now the 2Lr competes in every major competitive tournament, stand no real chances against the 3-4 top regiments but always put on a good and even fight vs the rest of the community. With being 7th in the 7th season of RGL, the 2Lr aim to make it to knock out stages at this MRGL and qualify for the knock out-stages.

So let’s just ignore someone like Maskman who knows next to nothing about leading and the capabilities of regiments performing well in a linebattle type of event.
To state that anyone on a “good day could beat the 77y/15thYR” is just a meme of its own, if that was the case why don't you beat the 77y or 15thYR then!?

Let's go
I won lots of things, I came 2nd and 3rd in lots of things, I guess I did some other shit too........ I'm also an FSE legend, probably most commonly described as a cunt. If the shit I do doesn't make sense in your head, well fuck you because it makes sense in mine.

Which i did, against known and reputed player, some of them considered legend, such as, Mandarin, Ledger, Tiberias, Herishey, Hokej, Troister, Axiom, Evanovic, Stark, Eddie, Jammo, Bagins, Freddie, Python. I didn't had a good relationship with most of them, but i congratulate them for what they did, and i had pleasure facing them.
